I think that the key is not with the collapsing of the wave function by observing but more about Wave~form = Choice and Particle = No choice. We are solid (particle form) so what choice do we have? Only the illusion of choice. Did we choose to be here? I wonder..........
When you observe, you realize. When you realize, you make real and solidify the probablility distribution. Our consciousness is part of the experiment. This resonates with the age old notion that consciousness is the source of reality.
So love is the "nature" of a low entropy being? I think I get where this is leading in terms of reality but I think I'll get the book tomorrow to fill in the gaps. I need a booster seat for this ; )
I'm with him until that point. We cannot be certain or say that it's utterly unlikely that we're in some sort of a simulation, because we cannot know it until we're out of it (and I'm assuming it's not easy to leave the simulation without leaving it permanently)
BUT how does that leave you with the words "certainly almost all of us are living in a simulation"? Isn't it more honest to say "I don't know"?
@ArthurKVerusan Yes, we dont really know for sure. It is a kind of assumption. But I suppose if you leave tyhe system you can come back to it, and draw that information down into the simulation, or maybe its the idea to leave the simulation and not be bound to it.,..
im not a scientist i know nothing about pysics except that what goes up must come doonwn and for every action there is a opposite and equal reaction, but i find what he is saying very intresting; my question is are these people in the room future scientist?
@VOLightPortal However, if that was true then how could we have ever known of it without some "other"-ly being telling us? But that being wouldn't know unless told by one outside of his/her reality, the idea in itself goes on forever, and thus is impossible to proove, and no theory is considered correct unless prooven, therefor, that theory can not be true, or, atleast possibly not true.
What/Who has no location, no space, no time, no wavelength? YOU!!! :-)
Static located, unlocated, co-existence of static. Static has the ability to mock-up or invent "stuff", the ability to split, and the ability to merge. Static has ideas and postulates and apparentlly seeks experiences. I can say this because I have re-connected with myself as one of these Statics and processed some of my original compulsions/fixed polarities that came out of that early quest for experience.
TC's revolutionary 'backdoor hack' approach to understanding reality. Folks, there IS a front door. Read the first two chapters of the Letter to Corinthians, the 7th book of the New Testament. The Apostle Paul describes the front door approach and more.
If you are having difficulty understanding the experiment and the hypothesis of it then you might want to try watching a clip of the 'What the bleep - Quantum physics' video. You can find it on youtube.
I think he didn't thoroughly explain the experiment because of the time constraint in that University lecture.
I found that extremely moving. That atoms behave differently when observed.
THis is what i would call "consciousnessism"...it's stil idealism...probably it's latest variation...it is also reductionism, as it reduces physical reality to data interpretation--physics is merely "the rules of how our consciousness filter and perceive data of the physical world, and from which it derives meaning of the physical world"..... it is reductionistic however it is really fascinating...revolutionary....Thomas is a genius...
Sounds like he's heading towards saying a 'larger metaphysical reality' will do the impossible and make qm into something elegant, no more patchworks, simultaneously showing metaphysics to be necessary to a complete conception of reality.
"with your thoughts you make the world"...Dammapada.

ok but who created our reality?

@TotalGameMaster Why do you need a creator?

@spiffCalvin Because we create so we would like to know the origin of us.

our universe is non-physical anyway, 99% of an atom is just empty space.
our universe is computed in another universe, which is computed in another universe, which is computed in another universe, ad infinitum
Since we cannot test or make observations of that assumption, this belongs in the realm of non-science aka metaphysics.

@bane7667 nothing is ever really proved there is evidence that is then interpreted. Gather data and evidence and experience it for yourself

if you can read this your part of this reality.
as much a i like the idea of many world every being abel to read this proves we live on the same page, and that we share one past.

But there is also a reality in which you wrote this and I didn't see it.
In fact, I almost went to bed but I read this comment. A bunch of parallel me's are sleeping right now and will never read your comment.

Put it in this dimension:
Time never had a beginning, therefore space (whatever that may be) never had a beginning. Therefore reality never had a beginning.
Therefore anything is possible, even the impossible.
