For those persons who believe Lois should've played Abra, keep in mind Julie Harris was one of Kazan's favorites from the Actor's Studio. He KNEW what he was doing when casting her. The movie wouldn't have been right with any other actress. Julie Harris was marvelous as Abra and she made James Dean comfortable on and off the set. It was his first movie and she played off him perfectly.
