  • fedor send u a hug

  • 2:56 HE OWNED

  • his mma debut was not convincing... Kind of anticipated more from him. Does anybody know if he sticks to mma or goes back to judo?

  • his striking is actually ridiculous and in mma for his takedowns he can not rely on the gi..in his weight class he would probably be murdered by guys like mir, fedor, lesnar and couture as well..

  • @talos1510 the transition from gi to no-gi, whether it is takedowns or matwork, is not difficult regardless of what Eddie Bravo might want you to think. Just ask Karo Parisyan, or guys who trained in judo and pulled off judo throws at wrestling tournaments(just search "judo throws wrestling" on youtube).

  • @SakoYo I think if your a higher caliber athlete it becomes easier, but shit I mean it's just common sense that if you fight without a Gi you should train without one. Although for basic Judo training I withhold this opinion because the Gi lets you get more of a feel for momentum

  • @Jade3liphant I never said you should never train without the gi, what I meant was that you shouldn't stop training with the gi just because you started competing in mma or in no-gi competitions. the main difference between gi and no-gi IMO is that you have to pull off the moves you learned with the gi a lot faster if you are rolling no-gi. It doesn't matter how tight your clinch is, slow movement will get you killed in mma.

  • @SakoYo You know what will help you pull off no-gi moves faster? Training without a Gi.

If you really have to use a Gi, supplement your No-GI training with Gi training, not the other way around. And thats still an extreme situation.

  • @Jade3liphant A gi practitioner would already be moving faster than the no-gi guy who never trained in the gi in that he would be beating him to punch with more accurate movements and transitions. The moves you learn slowly enough to perfect will get fast on their own, but not the other way around.

  • @SakoYo What exactly about Gi training makes a person faster, more fluid, and whatnot? And is that speed worth the lost training time that could be used to train no-gi, in which everything is applicable.(in the field of no-gi)

  • @Jade3liphant Consider playing music for example, you can be hit a lot of notes real fast and just make noise or you can learn how to play music properly by going through the steps, learning how to play the songs slowly and gradually speeding up with the help of a metronome. Jiujitsu isn't that different, it is about going through the proper progression and gradually speeding up your game. Fast garbage movements will never beat equally fast refined technique.

  • they have japanese in brazil???

  • @jchavista89 a million of em ;)

  • @jchavista89 actually, the largest Japanese population outside Japan is in Brazil. It's the third largest volume of immigrants after Portuguese and Italians

  • the speed at 2:54 ... but he is in an awkard weight, at 240 he might be able to out wrestle and dominate people at that weigh, but some people will be 270 pound at fighting, and if you got wrestling backround he wont be able to do his "judo throws".

  • Satoshi has great potential. Machida is also one of my top 5 favorite.

  • he looks pretty solid

  • This is great for machida and ishii. they both of a lot to learn from each other.

  • what's the meaning of "valeu"?? all I know is that It can mean different things..

  • could mean: good job, thank you, it's all good, like you said it, it has different meanings. It's basically an acknowledgment for someone's behalf.

  • machira comanda

  • haha 2:52 "...Ippon!"

  • It's fantastic!!! south and north american talking...is the mma power...and the heroes is ours...GO MACHIDA!!!

    Valeu, Tks! Arigatô!

  • did they (machida and ishii) practice newaza(ground game)? If yes,how was it?

  • i would assume they did, although newaza and bjj are already very very similar. lyoto doesnt need help with his bjj.

its safe to say that he was going to try to focus on getting his clinch in tip top shape... if he DOES have a weakness, it would be in the clinch. imo he wanted to have some throws he could use against wrestlers.

  • what is the difference btwn newaza and bjj?

  • nothing much really! just different names for moves; but I also think that bjj allows leg breaks!

  • Where coming for you BJJ

  • Lyoto proves that shotokan karate can be a very valuable addition in MMA.

  • Anderson Silva 10+ years, Gina Carano 10+ years, Mauricio Rua 10+ years practicing Muay Thai.

  • lyoto the beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    master karatê shotokan in world!

  • You're welcome. If you ever need help to understand videos in portuguese, just let me know.

  • i will :-D

there was another video, quite a while back.. I asked for translation if anyone could help me... & all i got was a sh*tload of insults... (most of which I could understand because of the little Spanish I know)... 'gringo' this and 'gringo' that..

...all while I'm not even a gringo or from the US at all!!!!

  • hello, excuse the lack of education from my fellow countrymen.

Its saying basically that the judo olympic champion is now trainning with Lyoto Machida. At age 22 to Satoshi Ishi is treated like a national hero os Japan. after being persuading to not leaving judo, he didn't give up his idea of becoming a MMA fighter.

He says ''when i was 13 years old I saw Rickson Gracie win MMA championships and thats my fight''.

  • muito obrigado!

    it's all good, my friend!

Ishii to SenGoKu... to build up his name & get some experience over there for the next few years before eventually ...God-willing, fingers-crossed,, making a debut in the octagon as an experienced fighter from Japan!

  • what's your point?? u wanna cookie?? tell me were is the video I maight be able to help u.. if u are a easy goin dude or you got titties..

  • that includes me?? I need help once in a while..

  • Sure dude. I`m glad to provide info and translation to anyone who has some kind of interest in Brazil.

  • no, Its not Shinzo, Lyoto's bro who broadcast, this guy is not even japanese and great 'kataguruma' like said Aleawill, nobody wins an olimpic gold medal just with luck.

  • 2:52

    awesome kataguruma!

  • hopefully he's not another nakamura from the yoshida camp..

  • i pray he has naks chin and striking. Nak did very good standing against a prime Shogun and Wand. As long as he has the good sense not to wear a gi then take it off during a fight and fight in a weight class that suits him.

  • Does anyone know who that announcer is at the beginning of the clip? Is that Machida's brother? I know he works as a newscaster in Brazil.

  • Satoshi Ishii has HUGE potential specially considering the fact that he's taking his incursion into MMA seriously. Having already trained with Couture and now Machida you know he's trying hard to be as well rounded as he possibly could. By the way 2:52 ... Bad ass.

  • Sweet!

  • 2:53 Lyoto gets owned.

  • Eu sou pesaroso que eu nao falo o portuguesa bem.

    Translation, Por favor?

    Obrigado.

  • Summary of the video:

    - Ishii is in Brazil for about 20 days practicing with Machida to become an MMA fighter

-Machida talks about his own MMA background. He says his main strengh is karate (3rd Dan), but he is also a 2nd dan in sumo and a jiu jitsu black belt.

-In judo, Ishii is still the authority around here (they say it just before that flawless kata guruma)

After that, the reporter says that in judo, the authority around here is still Ishii (just before that flawless kata-guruma).

  • Tudo Bem! & Muito obrigado.

    Thanks a lot, my friend.

  • Thank you for upload.

    do-nannokana-

  • Nice! If satoshi ends up training with Lyoto, then he's bound at some point to be training with Noguiera and Anderson as well. He's found himself a great camp and a good trainer right off the bat.

  • He's already signed with ATT and trains there but he dropped in to bask in Machida's glory. :P

  • Wow, Satoshi training with Machida is awesome news! I bet he came to Lyoto because of his Japanese father. If Satoshi learns some of Lyoto's sharp and accurate striking in addition to his legendary Judo skill he will be very dangerous in the cage.

    War Ishii!!!
