Hmm... Why did apple leave out the Clock app, The calculator app, the stocks app, or the weather app? I used calculator quite often, along with weather. Didn't really use stocks-- and I used Clock app for a stopwatch, timer, and an alarm. I planned to replace my iPod touch with an iPad, but am now skeptical, however.

What else is apple leaving out?

Actually not having flash on the iPad is not a huge deal. The world will be slowly moving away from the crap that flash is to HTML5 because flash is not only a huge computer resource hog but also a security risk so I think Apple is doing its part to force a move away from flash. Youtube is already in testing HTML5 and it too will be phasing it out.

flash is something i miss. you do save battery but there is absoloutly huge amounts of the web that you just cant access. specially when your thinking about gaming and video. sure you can get some soloution but simply you will never get the amount of video on the web without flash. daily motion, hulu, the majority of channel websites that havent made an app for the iphone/ipad

You seem to be enjoying your new iPad, which is great. But, do you think it's worth it paying extra for the same app in iPad compared to iPod Touch/iPhone [e.g. Field runners for iPhone is $2.99 and $7.99 on iPad, or Flight control - $0.99 on iPhone, and $4.99 on iPad]. I know it doesn't seem like much, but if you purchase a lot of apps on iPad, the total could be much more than on iPhone. Just a thought.

i don't care who you are, nobody is going to be able to read an "ibook" for longer than an hour at a time, because your eyes are going to be hurting by then. books are meant to be read on paper and not led screens. and don't say that the kindle doesn't work either because i've used one and they are very easy on the eyes

@thecreativeone that's because this generation of add riddled kids grew up glued to these screens 24/7. most people under the age of 30 do not regularly read for pleasure, so the application being geared toward an older audience on a product like this is almost meaningless.

the fact is you can't take this thing outside to read with because it would have too much glare and the led-backlight will wear down the battery in only 10 hours of use. those are two large cons considering this is supposed to be a PORTABLE device.

And to clarify whether reading an iBook hurts your eyes, in my case it doesn't. I'm on my computer many hours of the day reading and browsing the web but my eyes don't hurt. Yes, the iPad screen and the software is to die for, but it is too heavy, too big, too bright for reading for two to three hours. iPad is not a Kindle-killer IMO. BTW - I went with Sony's Reader b/c Kindle is also a heavy brick. I think iPad should have used OLED, smaller screen for a Goldilocks formfactor between the iPhone/iTouch and netbooks.

from what i have read, the iPad uses iPhone 3.2 OS, therefore when iPhone 3.2 comes out, i am sure the YouTube videos will load in Safari and i'm sure there will be a few other tweaks, however, iPhone 4.0 OS is coming out soon and April 8th they will be showing a preview of it as well.

If this used full mac OS but with the app store and such, it would be much better and worth the price. And they could have gotten a faster processor... the Nexus One has a processor of the same speed and it is much smaller. They could have atleast bumped it up to 1.5 ghz.
