Im going from Miami in January ... Had you been there before ? Im looking a place to spend a few days every winter , Not much to do in Miami in winter
We were three brothers from Denmark visited the 1973 with a family who lived in a round house I was out riding and fell off I would like to visit the site again Regards Henrik Skou
Stop talking politics and look at the goddammed scenery- guys! and you must be guys, taking about politics when mountains like that are going passed. I've been to Jackson Hole and its a dream, would love to live there for awhile.
Coming over that hill and seeing the Tetons laid out-wow!
@fig3372 Jackson is an awesome place, very pricey though look to spend up to 2 thousand per month for one bedroom apartment I lived there for 5 years I loved it like I said though very pricey.
The real estate market here is desperate because the economic downturn has even affected this valley in a negative way. Realtors have not had the most positive impact on Jackson Hole to say the least. Also the downtown Center for the Arts though a great facility has the most shitty architecture. The auditorium space rises over 60 feet and the outside is just bare concrete looking like an unfinished building in a construction zone.
I think it's changing hopefully for the better to the left. lots of young people move there every year so I'm sure by now the old time locals are vastly outnumbered. I lived there off & on from 1982 to 2005. I just got tired of the very cold & very long winters, including seeing it snow in july & august ,& the town is off the charts expensive to live in due mostly to the local real estate greedheads who long ago jacked up housing prices.. average home price is way over one million dollars
The "all-Republican delegation" is a holdover from the days of yore. My family used to be Republicans but most have left the party. Some have become Independents but the majority have become Democrats. My father was heavily involved with the GOP during the 70's and 80's. He passed away during the early 1990's. I know he would roll in his grave if he could see what has become of the GOP.
Actually it is an arcane system. We all need to step into the 21st century as opposed to being stuck in the past. The bigger & more powerful the huge corporations become the more we need a strong government to counter balance the tyranny that could and often does happen as a result.
What makes you think that huge corporations are doing something to hurt this country? I can think of examples of where corporations have wronged people, but the government has done far more to wrong its citizens. Free markets are good for America. You won't understand that until you've taken econ 101. I don't like to brag, but I am going into econ 2 at grade 10.
Free markets are more than good, they are crucial; however the Republican party has shifted too far to the extreme right and has begun to treat the free market concept like a dogma. They have begun to shift into the teaching that the corporations can do no wrong kind of thinking (corporate anarchy). Also the U.S. government is of the people, by the people and for the people.
I have taken plenty of Economics courses from High school, through New York University.
Also JohnRhysMusician the government isn't just about protecting our borders it is also about protecting the people from the disease and tyranny that can happen from inside of itself. President Lincoln even said that the possible destruction of this nation would happen from within. It's time our government used preventative action from inside as well as outside of itself. Balance is the key. Also this nation is far more moderate than the extremes you see on the Corporate media channels.
I first went to Jackson Hole ins 1964. Eventually, I moved there with my family to raise our children. It was paradise then, twenty five years ago. Most of the valley still is. But there is no place for the middle class. Town, once a true cowboy town, is beyond hope. Stay north of town, go up the Gros Ventre or over to Kelly and Antelope Flats. The west bank is where Dick Cheney lives. That's all you need to know. Dornan's is great, and the mountains are holy beyond description. go there.
Yea!!! More propaganda to bring more DUMBASS Californians to another part of the Country they don't belong. Keep it coming every state needs there own L.A. and the way you douche bags ruin town Jackdon Hole is well on it's way to becoming another over populated cesspool.

It is a very liberal area here in many ways but in a unique independent way.
Jacksonholenativ 2 years ago
It is pretty liberal, but so many conservatives are from there/live there. It is represented by an all-Republican delegation.
