  • anyone who says couP instead of coupÉ is an freaking moron

  • 2 cars draining hondas money :the element, and the cr-z they need to bring back the cr-x. gas powered, fast, fun, young. that will make them billions of dollars.

  • My 1991 CRX SI got avg 40 mpg and around 45 on hwy as well was much faster car. and handled much much better than the CRZ

  • compare to hyundai veloster...

    it has only 2 seat,

    smaller,

    slower,

    more expensive,

    worse mpg in manual transmission,

    barely little better in cvt,

    poor performance

    short warranty

who the hell would buy this car...

  • If my friends and I get a ball, field and goal, we can play a game of soccer. We're not professional athletes, and we'll probably break a few rules, but we'll have fun playing the sport.

The same principle applies to sports cars: A great chassis, slick gearbox and predictable handling can make up for average performance #'s.

After all, the Mazda Miata is the best selling sports car of all time and is unanimously loved by every car-reviewing organization on the planet for its sheer fun-factor.

  • Hyundai Veloster will crush that car...lol

  • americans are just ripping on this car, ucan even hear it on their voice tone they want to mock it, not the first time this guy does it...

  • 3:32 was answered by the ACURA INTEGRA back from 94-01. Especially the gs-r. Quick, fun, good looking (even today), and efficient for sure!

  • EcoSport cars are the future of the automobile, the beginning of fun and cool hybrids

only thing I dislike is that is a two seater they should have a two door four seater too

  • the front looks sporty but the back looks like it got raped by a prius...

  • loool look at those dislikes...man you need to understand that sporty does not mean Corvette ZR1 performance idiots

  • I've had one for a month now, traded an 09 WRX and have not looked back. The Honda is actually more fun to drive than the Subie.... yeah there is a large gap in HP between the two, but honestly I dont miss it. The EPA numbers are off too, real world driving I get 35 city and around 47 highway. Love this car!

  • I think Honda is marketing this car wrong. The guy in this video has it right - a sporty 1st generation insight that has the looks of a CR-X. The people who what more emphasis on the sporty part should look at the Hyundai Veloster. And it has more techie stuff too. Also, comparable gas mileage without the cost of the hybrid parts. The CR-Z does have more hypermiling potential than the Veloster (rubs against sport marketg), but the Hyundai Veloster is better in just about every other aspect.

  • still gotta faster 0-60 than my v6 94 lex

  • It looks like a sporty car, but the underlying foundation isn't. That's what's missing.

  • you suck

  • i test one yesterday and wasnt nice to it i had it in eco mode and had the a/c on full blast and averaged 43 mpg at 70 mph down highway99 running along with trafficgreat lil car and still 33mpg in sport mode and it actually hallls ass i dont like rice rockets but this one is fun as hell

  • sportish look and nothing else...

  • The CR-Z: Mediocre performance and dismal (for a hybrid) MPG. Sorry, but just because it's a hybrid doesn't make it suddenly economical. It -is- comparable to a Mustang I'm afraid. An increase of only 7 MPG over the V6 doesn't compensate for the lack of power, or seating, in the CR-Z. Want a real fuel-efficient hatch? Wait for the hyundai veloster. Thanks.

  • Well of course it doesn't live up to the CR-X!! It's "based" on it, it's not a revival of it.

  • Im thinking about getting one of these in a 6speed, so I can take my time building my S2000... I think it would be a great car for daily driving. It feels a little sharper than your standard civic... but below a Si... besides the Si doesn't get very good gas mileage for a 2.0 FWD car (now 2.4)... and this would be much cheaper to own overall.

  • CR-Z = looks cool

    CR-Z with k20 conversion = SFdjFASF AWESOME!

  • They failed to mention the CRX HF = 50mpg vehicle back in the mid 80s. No dumb hybrid either, so no toxic batteries that will leak out and do far more pollution than gasoline burning does.

  • @oldtwins my mate owns one you can flog it for hours on end and the fuel gauge never moved

  • Honda, stop playing games and bring back the CRX---seriously !

  • i think with this car you have fun and do something for the environment...

  • 31/37? that's weak my 86 Subaru XT gets better. and is probably more reliable and more fun...

  • Peace of Shit!!!!! Don't ever combine speed and gas saving...........

  • @Eugene2636 I fail to see where in this video it said this car is fast.

  • Do want

  • WHY THEW FUCK ARE YOU DISLIKENKING THIS SHIT

  • It doesnt really get 31 mpg. I have a 10 civic and they say its suppose to get 20 something mpg but it actually gets round 35 mpg. So i expect this too get around 40 or 41 mpg. And if you dont like the hp on it then get a type r that gets around same gas mileage but with alil over 200 hp.

  • @TheM4master YMMV. My car is rated 26/30 and I AVERAGE at least 33 in the summer...

  • "Not so legendary" first gen insight? The first production hybrid in the world, which still beats today's hybrids in fuel economy ... And is still sought after... With models in good condition still fetching half as much as they did new ... You need to do research before you make claims if you want to build credit with your viewers.

  • First time watching this channel's videos... Magrath is one boring monotonous guy.

  • Honda is definitely dedicated to making fugly cars . . .

  • Just test drove it

Liked the handling and bolt-action shifter

    Loved the seats and styling

Hated the constant Honda engine noise and entry (hit my head twice)

Also hated the odd rear seating that aren't seats

If it got 40 MPG, ok

Since it really gets you around 34-35, I'll keep shopping

  • All they've got to do is make a crz SI W/ the 200hp 2.0.. Then it would be a hit.

  • @bliglum I drive an '08 Si and I would trade it for a CR-Z Si in a heartbeat. I love the looks, style and electronics of the CR-Z, but I'm not willing to give up 75hp to gain ~10mpg.

  • @bliglum that's exactly what they have to do!

  • MANY things to like about this car Mags seems hot to compare it to Prius and CRX Not trying to be either Great styling! Low price ($20k) Many owners are getting around 40 MPG Still lightweight EX manual 2650 lbs Better looking/driving/more fun than Prius Faster/MoreFun/Cost less than Civic Hybrid Hate the door handles, and I would put an aftermarket bumper on But if you want to get 35-40MPG, have fun, look good, and not break the bank They WILL offer 2012 Civic Si engine next year!
  • i love the styling of this car my lease on my jetta is up in may definantly considering looking into this

  • @Convenient8765 Go for it! Honda'sare great quality; our family owns 3 - well 2 are Acuras...

  • Can somebody please tell me why everyone popps up the ZR-1 in every video???

  • @PL3690 Because most people here are Americans, thats the only reason

  • isn't a civic hybrid a much better alternative?

  • it cant leave the the mini van behind on a mountain

  • Your probably better off with a high performance diesel hatch.

  • This is a prius coupe

  • So does this make anyone what to buy my car now LoL

  • Hybrid = slow

  • @tubegangsta electrical motor's have more torque then gasoline engine

  • @znuos More torque, at the expense of HP, is still slow once the car gets moving.

  • @tubegangsta The honda is slow because there is a weak gasoline engine in it.(after 50Km/h or 35m/h it will switch on his gasoline engine. and loss of speed.) combine an electrical motor with a strong gasoline engine and it will smoke a corvette.

  • @znuos Still, there is no replacement for displacement.

  • Six gears nice!

  • the are working on a 1.6 turbo for this car at honda with 160 and 200 bhp

  • hybrid suck period.

  • @mr3ggroll ... In what sense?

  • honda said there will be no Si trim...i want the person who decided that in the face...and bludgen them to death. why make a good looking car and then NEGLECT IT! AND NOT GIVE THE PUBLIC WHAT WE WANT!!!

  • look at that side look same as hyundai gc

    honda=bye bye!~~~

  • needs a k20 motor for a model

  • I would have bought one if it had the civic engine in it .

  • These guys are tards. they are expecting muscle car performance from a experimental sporty hybrid.

    you cant have a 300+hp car with a 2 sec 0-60 while getting 50mpg?

these amerifags just dont understand cars

  • @101PROTIPS nice comment! you are 100% right

  • this would be an awesome third or second car, in my opinion

  • bad design

  • This is an exciting car to me. Edmunds does not even go over all the nifty stuff in the cockpit of this 2 seater. It is "Sporty" sure, but its the over all experience that excites me. I also think it is very well priced for what you get.

  • I'll stick with my 10 year old kia. It gets 25 mpg, which is good for a 10 yea old kia.

  • @Basscreator777 so if 5mpg was good for a 10 year old kia, would you still use it? I probably get something like that with my 98 cavalier, but sometimes it's just time for an upgrade.

  • @photog645 That's not the point at all. Point is I still get good mileage without paying too much for a car.

  • The car of my dremas

  • CR-Z?.. They got the name wrong!...This is the new 2011 Honda INSIGHT Hybrid!!! It's all Semantics! CR-Z/INSIGHT, Potato/Potato... Whahever! LoL!

  • That's one thing you've gotta love about inside line videos. They should do a little more research before they do their reviews. This car is in no way supposed to replace the Insight (obviously since there's a new Insight) nor replace the CR-X. It's supposed to be a hybrid that's a little fun to drive, not a little 4-banger that you strip down and take to a strip or auto-cross.

  • does it have second row seating??

  • @myutube988 no

  • actually really starting to like this car. Not only would u fit right in with all the other hybrids in carpool, but u can slap through some gears on a nice curvy road

  • LOl what a shitty car. Why not just buy an si civic? better in every way and it still gets great gas mileage

  • ugly piece o shit

  • i hope they make si version

  • CHICK CAR

  • What an awesome car!

  • Nothing smells better than " Cartier " Perfumes , except those brand new motor cars inside smell , mmmmhhh . they even smell better than a verging's girl pussy :)

  • lol, people who misunderstands the crz are bogus. honda is just trying to make a hybrid more fun to drive, and dont even think of comparing this to a mustang, haha, that's pretty out of this league. this is a purpose built car that aims to save gas, and bring out some fun. if you dont like this car, please dont bother commenting. by the way why would you go here if you hate this car in the 1st place?

  • @Vladmir917 no, it's perfectly acceptable to criticize a car that is marketed as sporty, when my mother's minivan is literally faster. do not market a car as sporty if it does a 0-60 in 9 seconds. that's extremely slow, even compared to minivans and grocery getters

  • @ken060693 perhaps, but remember, this is a hybrid. not some superb sporty car. if they claimed it was a sports hatchback coupe, i reckon they'd give it a turbo charged 1.6 litre straight 4 engine, which is pretty good. but it's not, and a hybrid's a hybrid, theyre just setting up a trend is all.

  • @ken060693 sporty doesn't mean going fast in a straight line, the cr-z would leave your moms minivan behind on curves

  • @rayzian and where would that be? a track? if you bring the crz to a track, i doubt it would beat anything there. i don't understand how taking a really slow hybrid, and putting a good suspension system on it makes it sporty

  • @ken060693 because any other hybrid doesn't have a good suspension or a 6-speed shifter so it's sporty in comparison lol

  • @ken060693 Some people including yourself forget that you are mixing hybrid and sport together, so it is not going to be a true 100% performance car. There is a give and take here.... And as far as beating anything on the track, the CR-Z does 8.8 secs to 60mph while the ''''sporty'''' 2010/ 2011 Scion tC does 8.3secs to 60mph. (not EVEN a full second faster than a Honda hybrid. ..AND the tC 's motor is twice as large. So if Honda really tried harder, it'll kill alot of sport-cars out there.

  • @cpwoods79 this car is neither a performance car nor a great gas mileage car. it has 2 seat, slow performance, and less than most hybrid's fuel efficiency. it seems to me like this car is a car that tries to target several groups with a car that can do many things, all though not too good at any of them

  • @rayzian You'd be surprised how sporty the new Sienna and Odyssey are. Try not to look too shocked when both leave this CR-Z in the dust on the track and windy roads.

  • @rayzian Just as long as your mom doesn't have a Honda Odyssey. IL was able to get an Odyssey to do 61.7 mph through the slalom which is just a smidge faster than a CR-Z. If you really want good handling, good MPG in this price range, buy a Mini Cooper.

  • @naarealy fuck mini it's an ugly weird looking car

  • @rayzian not exactly.........its slower then a CRV through the slalom....

  • @rayzian Did you have a bout of narcolepsy when they showed the slalom and skid pad numbers? They were disgusting. No car that preforms that poorly should use the term sporty. I would take a Focus ST, Abarth 500 or a Mini S any day over that bloated pile of engineering mess.

  • @dsmluck

if you are poor and young this car would be perfect because its not only fuel efficient but it also has the aspect of a sports car but if you are filthy rich then just get a lamborghini or something !!!

  • @Vladmir917 They're trolls

  • @Vladmir917

Who was the fool that tryed to compare this to a mustang, i am a go slap them in the face.

  • @Vladmir917 Yup, just got mine a month ago. This car is not meant for the tracks, but it's definitely a head turner in the city. It's for people who wants something more agile and better looking than family cars like Accord. At the same time you won't be crying about gas money when you are stuck in traffic.

  • @Vladmir917 except its not fun to drive at all(according to reviewers)...mpg is too low for the underpowered small 2 door coupe...not a good sports car...not a good hybrid...that makes the crz pointless

  • @effu68 You'd have to try it out yourself. These guys said the GTR was slower on the track than the ZR1 which I find difficult to believe. I think people that buy this car aren't really thinking of practicality; I know I don't when I buy a car because I don't have a family or haul anything and I like power. This is a car you buy because it's one of the best looking cars in its price range and considered green. Most buyers don't care about performance *cough (G-wiz owners).

  • @Guy9998 i actually like to have a small 2 seat 4 cyl sporty hatchback....crz has the looks/interior parts down...but the hybrid part is completely useless...new fords and hyundais get 40mpg without the extra weight of a hybrid system...i read on autoblog tht honda is planning to put a normal and a turbo four in this...i am pretty excited about tht idea...not sure if tht will happen though...as of right now crz is a big disappointment

  • @effu68 That's too bad since it's such a great looking car. I guess all looks and no trousers as Jeremy Clarkson would say lol.

  • @Vladmir917 I don't hate it..... just trying to like it and it just doesn't work. Maybe if I was 30 years younger.

  • @Vladmir917 Agreed! I actually like this car quite a lot; good for Honda for making hybrids more fun to drive...

  • @kingrezzy What fucking loser would want a gas guzzling, oversized American piece of shit like the Mustang??? Just look at the people driving it, it's mostly idiots who know shit about cars and it's slower than most cars. LMFAO!!!!

  • i'd rather buy a prius, same price but room for more people, and better mpg.

  • @kingrezzy I agree this bitch isnt worth 20k

  • screw the hybrid...PUT A K20!!

great gas mileage and wayyy faster...

    wth is honda doing?

  • @johnbuidude making a fun to drive hybrid

  • @saboobuu they apparently failed

  • @johnbuidude how? it is a fuckload better than the insight and prius

  • @saboobuu yes but rsx is still better and gets almost the same mpg

  • @johnbuidude , There is not way the RSX of any yrs got 31 City and 37 Hwy. Your fully of it. I have owned two of them and never got near that.

  • @johnbuidude ya, iguess. but still, you get more than what you pay for

  • I don't care what people say. This is still a cool looking car with ample power that's fun to drive. Stop whining all you 1980s CRX junkies.

  • @Nicktyelor3 Finally a good and smart comment !

  • @Nicktyelor3 I agree. It's a hot looking car. And still, CRXs didnt' start looking good until the late 80s.

  • just needs to be lowered with bigger wheels, then it will handle like a dream

  • it looks like a prius minus 2 doors plus a honda badge but i gotta admit the interior looks good

  • @mushimaster0323 the insight redesign was before. so you could say toyota ripped off the insight. tehy look about the same. and yes, it looks like a two door insight

  • @saboobuu

Redesigned before what? The Prius debuted 1 day after the Insight in North America. The Insight's shape looks like that of the 2nd Gen Prius (which came out years before the 2nd Gen Insight), the 3rd Gen Prius is just like an updated 2nd Gen Prius. If anything, the Insight looks more like a enhanced version of the Prius, but Toyota didn't copy the Insight. More like the other way around. The Insight looks good though.

  • it looks like a prius minus 2 doors plus a honda badge

  • It's not made for the US market....

Here in Europe it's a nice car :)

  • WTF is this, what happened to honda?

  • @RBREBAN They have to do something with a hybrid or else they won't be ahead of the game. A electric engine can produce far more torque then IC engines can so a mix between a low torque 4cyl. and a Electric works. But this is there first try so I wouldn't hold your breath.

  • Comment removed

  • I feel like Honda has lost their way

  • Although this car looks cool, you gotta love the fact that even though it's a hybrid, it only gets 37 on the highway, when the old insight got in the 60's...

  • S2000 is a better buy... and a lot more fun! CR-Z is for ECO friendly little girls

  • Kind of a funny review...you keep comparing the CRZ to both the Insight and the CRX, two cars that lie on opposite ends of the performance spectrum. Clearly, Honda was attempting to bring the best of both worlds together. I like the one-of-a-kind result.

Throw the thing in "sport" mode when you're getting up to speed and merging onto the highway, then put back to "economic." Use the "normal" setting around town.

  • Holy Crap... Honda is just saying... "fuk it, put it out, they'll buy anything now."

the Ricer Boys are gonna be all over this thing.

this thing looks like a failed 90's concept car... car of the future folks...

  • I have a crx and I get 40 mpg. So much for thus crz. Lol just wait a while someone will do a k20 swap lol jk tho that would be cool. Dame if I had the money I do it lol.

  • Comment removed

  • well it is a cr-z not a cr-x, but it is a cr-z with the bodystyle of a cr-x with a hybrid engine ill still buy it cause its cool and you save money on gas, but like montelsv6 said, you can always tuned and mod the engine to make it go faster, fix the supension to make it handle better. But overall you get what you pay for and a hybrid honda that looks this cool for 20g you cant complain!!!! ill take two!!!

  • @NitroExplosion88 will need major modding to get out of the 0-60 9 second range :(

  • Demand with your purchasing power. Buy the old one if you don't like it! Or wait until gen2 if that even happens lol.

  • Dont worry Honda and CR-X lovers. Get a stiffer suspension, mod the engine/exhaust, freee up some ponies and its good.

  • @MonteLSV6 I'd wait til 2nd generation.

  • And another thing ppl keep praising the ford fusion, and nissan altima and just about any other hybrid that is out over any of hondas current offerings. They are worthy of praise, i'll admit just based on mileage figures alone. But it tarnishes the image for me once I look under the hood and realize that these other companies brought toyotas technology to use as their own. What did Honda do, created their own, its a mild hybrid that comes close, watch out when/ if they introduce a full hybrid

  • What you guys fail to realize is that it is both quicker and as efficient as the CR-X. The only difference is this time around they did this engineering with hybrid powertrain. It is not the CR-X, if it was they would be calling it the CR-X. Everyone misses the point that Honda is introducing sportiness with good gas mileage, what other sporty car do you know can get this gas mileage, for this price. Or better yet what hybird do you know of that comes with a six speed manual?

  • wow wheres all the thumbs up for a Si version with the K20 engine pushing 200hp??? wow Hybrids suck ass and what terrible gas mileage to boot! Thumbs it up people!

  • @Niche79

    i thumbs down!

  • @ troy- Oh boy here we go with the YouTube dicks. Ok well may be my phone skipped a few seconds, he said it around :30-:31 seconds.

  • This idiot called it a Hyundai at :34 seconds

  • @JohnsonBarry ummmm no he didnt stupid ass he says "but not really weight" @ :34

  • That is a waste of a Car. THats Insulting to compare that to the CRX.. IF i looked like the CRX with a REAL motor, SHyt, Id be after it to buy it. WTF is HONDA thinking?

  • looks pretty shitty ro me

  • i really dont know wuat the fuck is going wrong with this new honda designs! damn plz keep the legendary design!!! i'd stick to me 1996 civic cx.

  • 61.4 mph slalom speed, that is just completely unacceptable, even the 1st generation CRX was faster through to slalom than that. This car is bettter in no way to the CRX. So much for a 20 year hiatus comeback.

  • 1:22-1:26 Wow, the fricking electric motor in it is pretty much a waste of weight.

  • the crz is rated for 31 mpg city (with the manual trans)

my manual trans chevy cobalt can seat five somewhat comfortably, gets 28 mpg city (real world - not from the epa tests) and cost less than $13k out the door

  • Hybrid = FAIL.

  • Why not save money and buy a civic coupe instead? You get barely worse mileage, way better power and even more seats.

  • @1dgg9h4dr6ppp8 Or you could even buy a good car unlike the overpriced civic. Honda is following the Toyota way.

  • I will stick to my challenger srt8 thanks.

  • Disappointment

  • i like that they brought back the crx but im not a fan of the rear end of this car how around the hatchback its square then the tail lights just take off in a bubbly shape..... i like it and i dont like it

  • I think that if I were to buy it I'd take out the battery and electric motor and put in an Si engine.

  • i'm a honda fan to the core. But damn this car sucks. I'll stick to my integra

  • Garbage.

  • cr-z was reviewed by 5th gear (british tv show) and they specifically state that the only FUN way to drive the cr-z is in sport mode and even then its not good enough. honda really fkd up on this one. ive read that the prius is faster, but i can't find that website anymore.....

  • @bastec666

but... the 5th gear review loved the CRZ! he said that honda had finally made a car that was a sporty hybrid!

  • CRZ sucks...

  • OMG the CR-X is back..

  • damnit honda you're soo close.. I guess it's just cost cutting/and price point that is what's limiting you..

but man, if the economy was better, and people could afford just about 5 grand more.. you could have a 4 seater, turbo, sunroof, slightly bigger engine.. on and on..

  • @ibfrdb revive the NSX, and reinvent it, as a high performance hybrid, that's what I think

  • Amazing how the concept was amazing looking, and now the real think sucks ass. Seems to be the case always.

  • That car looks awsesome!

  • It's the Insight all over again.
