Kilgallen's constant repetition of name-dropping, "inside" type questions was so irritating. ... If you listen closely, Tony Bennett did kind of sound like Allan Sherman there! It's not far-fetched that Anka would think so. ... Tony Bennett has always been one of the nicest guys in show biz -- and I don't think he'd have any problem with Anka's music, compared to other stuff.
@spelvin214 name-dropping inside type questions is irratating about the same inside questions they asked all mystery guest. so she asked some crazy question some of which were odd and sometime funny. i also think she got a bad rap for being so serious yet there many times when she joked around.
The first time Tony Bennett sang "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" on television was on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show debut in October, 1962. He sang it again during Johnny's last week in May 1992.
Oh my -- Anka is so gorgeous, but how could he mistake Tony Bennett for Allan Sherman? Anka appeared twice on the panel in 1964: the mystery guests were Liberace and Mr. Bennett. The audiences must have been stunned to see them together collectively on the stage. Shame they didn't do a number together on WML. Did they ever perform together anywhere?
I wonder who spent the night in that midwestern presidential suite. She asked Steve and Edie the same darned question.
Yes, one of my favorite singers in his Prime. :D

I have a feeling Bennett wouldn't have thought much of Anka's singing at that point, the teen idol stuff.

From 4:00 on, there is a lot of chatter in the background. If that's the panel talking, it sounds a little rude to me!

I would also like to know who that was (or were) that stayed in a midwestern presidential suite.
Thanks for putting this up.

I think perhaps she's trying to track down the man with whom she had a one-night stand while blind drunk.
