  • An old number, even Jimi did it (Monterey, other recordings). Johnny already had been doing this number for about 20 years {see comments}. A powerhouse! Almost effortless it seems. He was simply so good in these years on guitar. Wasn't always good to himself. Great to see him clean in January 2012. Put on a little weight. Should be in the Rock Hall, but I guess he made people mad. I don't think he cares anymore--The Blues have honored him.

  • Many years ago I bought Second Winter out of curiosity bout the 4th side bein blank - never heard of JW before that. Was blown away when I listened to it and still am every time I hear the guy play now

    For the record, surprisingly, in "second winter" 69 original vinyl with three faces treated for two disks

  • @keefym1 It fit on 2 sides, but it would have lost volume, he felt it was important for the listeners to be able to play it as loud as possible.

  • great work But for those who think JW and Stevie RV are the only Texas Blues men check out Eric Sardinas  Bad ass they come..... JW was his Idol...and now he sets the standard for Blues slide guitar the Texas way !

  • Thus once again proving....Johnny was THE guitar slinger of Texas...looooooonnnnngggg before anyone else.....Sadly, he is now forgotton by Texas radio, U.S. radio and tv...and only SRV will be remembered as the fevered guitarist from Texas....
