There are many versions reffering the etymology of the word "devil". one can acommodate a version to whatever belief needed to be justified.

DEVIL, in spanish DIABLO comes from the greek DIÁBOLOS, which means "adversary" or "enemy".

DEMON comes from greek DIAMON: a spiritual reallity that can be good & harmless (Agatos diamon) or evil and harmful (Cacos diamon). in conclusion: both satanists and christians use the definition that fits them most. That's primitive thinking one way or another.
