Your son was diagnosed at such an early age. I was diagnosed at 7.5 years, and I'll tell you this much -- most of grade school was hell for me.
My elder brother, who died in February 2000, had those same issues, but medical pros were not observant enough to watch for suicidal signs, and look what happened. He left us. But I remember my brother as a talented bassist and a socially-inclined chap.
Hello, I'm glad your son has been diagnosed early. I am 13 and only just been diagnosed. My school life is very diffucult do lots of things it said in the video. It is really hard to do most things without me getting stressed. My principle scratched me and i still have the scar. i didn't eat until I was about 4 I started when I saw my sister eating and I copied her good luck for your son.
I just sat and watched this with my 9 year old son who has Apergers and ADHD (I'm now thin he may have IEP too.) and wanted to thank you for making this video, I hope more people watch it. My son spent the duration of the film saying "Mum thats just like me, I do that!" and "I know what that feels like." SO many similarities that you could have made a video about my kid. Change the name and the face and we could be talking about the same person.
I love to go through and watch the videos about aspie's because it helps me to understand my son a little better and gives me hope for the future. My son is 10 and we have fought long and hard to get him diagnosed correctly. He is a wonderful little boy, very much like your son. Thank you for the video and may God bless you and your family.
Hey mommy, you just gotta smoke a little weed and youre mind expands to see the world like he's. I did that with my asperger boyfriend and it helped a lot!
wow... ur child is exactly like mine... i cant believe how close they are... kaiden was diagnosed with aspergers but later they changed to pddnos please email me s_kojo@yahoo.com i have so many questions and no one is helping me... ty
I have Asperger's and the people in my family don't know how to compromise. They get mad at me when I am really interested in something and that's no importance and no importance to them either. Usually because "barking up the wrong tree" could mean you don't like him or treating him unfair. Maybe he won't do that you.
I have Asperger's and the reason why he does that is because he is to smart. Usually when you say that is because you are being disrespectful and he won't that to you. I have also dealt with bad parenting but smart parent's just don't know how to compromise.
I have tears in my eyes. My 7 yr old is experiencing alot of the symptoms of the Asperger's. I have to thank god for letting me find a good school that cares about his needs. I am so sorry your son had to go through that with the principal. If they say mainly Asperger's means your different. well if the principal of a school is considered normal who wouldn't want to be different. Embrace him you have a beautiful little boy. I love his smile !

You are a wonderful parent. You really love and care for your son. I shudder to think about what would happen to Darian if he had parents like mine. My parents solved my so called "behavior problems" by spanking me all the time. I am proof that spanking doesn't work; I am a vengeful, angry adult who can trace the origins of my personality back to all of the spankings. One of my earliest memories is of my father throwing me on a couch in a crowded store and slapping the living hell out of me.
@primerodimus1 And then my father wondered why I choked him a few times when we argued during my adult years. He hated it when I said, "Well, you used to slap me around when I was small and couldn't defend myself--so now you know how it feels!" I was also constantly victimized by teachers and "peers" at school. But I believe that I have now found a healthy outlet for my anger--professional long-distance running--which may be the only path for me worth following.
@primerodimus1 Yeah, my life is fucked up and i have aspergers and probably other stuff but my moms too lazy to try any other diagnosis. I have gone through so much shhhit, with aspergers at the back of my head. Too bad really...
ik it's hard to deal with things such as this. and it depresses me thinking about the name calling i went threw. I'm now going to a school for special needs kids but they treat u like a regular person It's hard because my old school treated you like a mental patcient and i would come home angery or sad because of the way i was treated and the principal never did anything. It's even worse when some of your family member tell you your stupid. those who have this problem u have full potenticial!!
Thank you for posting this. I have a 2 year old with asperger's syndrome. It is heartbreaking what these children go through everyday. Stay stong you are a great mother!
This vidoe is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time, I know what kind of mother you have to be to be a fighter and an advocate for your son, there are many mothers likeme, that admire your strength, thank you for sharing!
Your son and my son Aidan their eyes are identical... he has that sad face. I mean no harm by saying this, our neurologist has told me that they are know linking facial features to certain forms of ASD's which I find very interesting. This is a wonderful video, too bad we don't live close Jacob and Aidan would love to have friends too. And also Jacob takes me at face value, the other day I said "It's raining cats & dogs outside" he went to the door and told me "No it isn't mom".
@raenorri - I totally agree with you! I was raging mad when he came home w/the bruise on the face & scatches on his arm from the principal. They had no idea how to handle a child like him. The principal was over 300 lbs. & he took my son to the ground & sat on him while he held his arms behind his back to restrain him. (They are not allowed to do that in public school.) Your son is adorable too! I noticed he loves numbers like my boy does! Make sure you get a good IEP when he goes to school!
@xlagirl i went to 3 schools in the 70,s for odd children they never called us aspies then just disturbed..the teachers were crap,i got bitten when i was 8 by a mail teacher, stabbed with a pencil and my leg whent black, thrown down some stares put int to a dark place.i am 48 and i still dont like the dark or small places..jeff 48..aspie.
I wish you all the luck in the world!
