Hadn't heard this song by them in about 30 years. Thanks much. Some groups have sung five or ten songs that sound great. In the case of Tommy and Liam--and with Paddy and Tommy--the number is about 100. Like so many others, I love their stuff. And will never tire of listening to them.
OK. Kruschev was the leader of the Soviet Union, and "Holy Moly" is an abbreviation for "Holy Mother of God!", so basically the lad is saying his dad is a communist sympathiser, which is about as bad as it could get in Ireland in the sixties! But it's just a fun song about the joy of life and cavorting on the beach.
this is some song, it has to be said that those two sang some shite songs when they toured together but they were absolutely amazing at it nobody else could ever have done it
well this is hardly a stirring ballad like the town i loved so well or seven drunken nights is it? Who else could sing this type of song and make it sound good?
The most notable thing about this version of the song is that Donal Lunny had nothing to do with it.

I love this song, as with all of their songs. I find it hard to believe they are both gone, both age 74 too, when they died. They will be missed.

i love the verses but don't like the chorus, it's way out of place

What do the lyrics have to do with the chorus?...
