Barbara... just got my long-neck cittern from Bill (Petersen) and it is knocking my socks off!
IT makes my OM sound thin and un-interesting.
I'll have to really build up some new muscles to play this -as it really takes some power to push those strings all down in chords. Hugs from another happy Petersen customer!
Actually, this is the bigger brother to an octave mandolin. The cittern has 5 double courses, for a total of 10 strings. It's tuned GG DD AA EE AA, like an OM with an extra set of higher A strings.
with the first few notes of your beautiful sounding instrument I was taken away to somewhere nice and peaceful where I want to be always.

I like it. The cittern really sustains well and sounds surprisingly full when it's strummed. I didn't realise it could sound quite as beefy as that!
