  • That looks like a great time, and memories.

  • then you put the fre fry

  • I went there today. Took some pics and of course I had the Bob's big boy combo.

  • Team Conan!

  • My Mom & Dad met at the original Bob's Big Boy on Colorado, where my mom worked, around 1964-65. Several years prior, my Uncle was at Bob's Big Boy with a bunch of kids from Eagle Rock, and they got in a fight with some kids from Glendale. When the cops came, the Eagle Rock kids scattered. My Uncle would have been left alone, but the Glendale kids, who had taken to their cars, yelled "get in!" and they all got away!

  • I grew up at Bob's in Burbank. I would order their Combo with my burger DP,Divided in Portions, center out,no middle piece of bun,no relish & a suicide coke Apply named in case Coke didn't have enough sugar add cherry, vanilla & Choc syrup. Blue Cheese for my fries. It's amazing I'm still alive to tell this tale of glutteny. Bobs was where I where I cruised in my 57 green Pontiac. Our reunions start on Bob's. I order the same w/o the Coke& I now split the Burger to make up for my foody sins.

  • Bob's is 600 feet from my house !!!

  • Fries dipped in Shrimp Sauce; a burger add avocado!

  • Wow, Wednesday night after the Esquires meeting--no better memories!

  • mmmm some

fray fries sound good right now lol

  • I'm am sooooo going to the big celebration at Bobs on the 24th of September. Happy Anniversary Bobs and congratulations on going green with your new solar system.

  • Cool!!

As a frequent customer of Bob's TL as a teen and then became a carhop in the late 60's, I had to post this vid on my Burbank High class '67 blog.

Also just found out that Toluca Lake Bob's is 60 yrs old (built in '49) and went green this year - Happy BD Bob!

  • Cool video....fantastic eatery!

  • the big mac was invented by the big boy!

  • Super Big Boy Combo... heaven. And the onion rings were killer. Did I mention their famous seasoned salt? Let's see... and their chili? I want me some Big Boy!!

  • When I started a combination was .80 and it took 3 cooks to run the BB gril, we were that busy. The drive in had its own kitchen so on the weekends you had 6 people just cooking hamburgers.

    Take that MacDonalds!

  • i remember the old bob's big boy restaraunt in riverside,ca on the corner of arlington ave and van buren blvd back in the 80s. now it is a freakin' starbucks coffee.

  • Used to date the shake-maker at Bob's in Sherman Oaks (?) in the early 60s. Memories!! Frequent the Bob's in Calimesa now!

  • Going to the weekly car show at the Burbank Bob's is one of my favorite LA pastimes... Thanks for the video!

  • Great video however I hate to disappoint you. #6 was not Burbank. It was Toluca Lake. The Burbank Bobs was down town and not a drive in.

I worked at 4 different Bobs back in the early 60's.

    #1 Glendale on colorado

    #2 Eagle Rock

    #3 Montrose (I think)

    #4 ?

    #5 ?

    #6 Toluca Lake

  • My Mom began a 34 yr career with Bob's in 1952

    #1-On Colorado in Glendale

#2 On San Fernando in Burbank originally did have a drive-in & was changed to a coffee shop only (she didn't remember exactly when)

    #3 Montrose

    #4 Glendale @ Broadway & Maryland

    #5 Eagle Rock

    #6Toluca Lake

#7 VanNuys Blvd.- had just opened when my Mom was at #6

Main office was located across from #1 & original Comm/Bakery next door, later moved to a location on Sonora.

Which Bob's did you work for?

  • I worked for Bob's also, started at #2 in '76trained waitresses at the main office, how to hold plates, write-up checks, etc. Was promoted to a Svc. Mgr at Bob's Jr. in the Glendale Galleria (shortly after it opened) until I moved my family to WA in 1980.

My Mom remembers when #6 had juke boxes on the tables!

How many other former Bob's employees are out there?

  • Mom started her career at Toluca Lake in 1952 and remembers many movie stars from the 1950's who came in....that's when Bob Hope came in - he lived around the corner.

She promoted into Mgmt, then to the Main Service Dept. in Glendale who were in charge of the new restaurant openings.

Bob's was a great place to work for many reasons.

Still in WA but always a Glendale Girl at heart!

  • I started in late 1957 at #1 and only worked a few month then went to Eagle Rock then to Toluca Lake. In those days Bob still owned everything. There was a branch in Newport or Balboa and one in Phoenix. The company moved you around some. #1 & #6 were the hot spots especially after the film American Graffiti came out. Later we moved to Fresno and found a great one there.

  • Great video!

I guess I'm heading down for the Friday Night Cruise!

The '71 Stingray gets to cruise to the Big Boy!

  • I'm a regular at Bob's in Burbank .. one of my all-time favorite eateries! I just dined there with my wife and some friends last night. Many fond memories!

    FAB video!

    Paul Bunnell

  • LOVE the chili mac!! My friend worked as a carhop there back in the day. Wanna relive your glory days Cosette???

  • oh yummy I was a little kid in Glendale so i've had it. No Big Boy's in Minnesota!

  • Dang, now I'm hungry. Love those Bob's!

  • I love Bobs too. But for the best double burger ever, here in Burbank, check out Tally Rand (on Olive about a mile or two south of Victory). Tally Rand opened in the 50's and, like Bob's, has that old diner vibe/wholesomeness.

  • Ahhhh,,,, sweet memories!
