  • Lauryn Hill's the best

  • Alicia Keys is awesome !!!!

  • perfectly beautiful, sings very well

  • I've been hearing to this song for decades, since I was a kid. I always hated it. I keep hoping it will go away and never bother me again. Then Alicia Keys had to go and resurrect its ugly carcass. I don't understand why anyone likes this song. :(

  • She is so much more than beyonce to me she too under rated

  • why compare alicia with lauryn? both are beautiful and they have wonderful voices! and that's it...

two covers for a great song...

    lets enjoy the music! ♪♫

  • @jm1814 i really agree with you the best is enjoy two great voices

  • NICE COVER... BUT AS MUCH AS I LOVE A.K. ROBERTAS AND L BOOGIE HAD THE BEST

  • I love Lauryn's, Roberta's, and now Alicia's all for different reasons. Why do I have to pick just one. This is beautiful. Now I can't choose which one to go to next.

  • In that last pic she looks like Aalyah!

  • NO NO NO NO NO WAY!!!! ATROCIOUS, PAINFUL, HORRIBLE, AWFUL.... COVER!!! No feeling at all

  • i think everyone know this song's original from Roberta Flack, but as far as a cover goes the Lauryn Hill's one was the best.

  • @whywhykk what the hell its her verson of the song you stupid asshole

  • @whywhykk never heard that insult before...u must be funny

  • I think its just the quality of the video cause I KNOW Alicia has an amazing voice and do a great job doing any song

  • ok i am getting emotional . . next video

    Slayer - Angel of Death

  • @ALDabbagh1988 Try Unleashed for songs that get your emotions numb.

  • oh my good ! , you sing very very very very good *-*

  • if you cant make it sound better dont touch it.

  • damn she spoilt the whole thing ... bring some Lauryn Hill home yall

  • Anyone know this keys in piano? ;p

  • i still think the original is better

  • she looks like aaliyah at 1:43

  • I got chills. Wow...

  • hi

  • Roberta Flack was and is the original best for this one...the covers are good, but without Ms. Flack we wouldn't be hearing these great covers.......

  • @katirlp I was about to mention that... Sadly people do not know of the original original.

  • @katirlp Actually it was Lori Lieberman who did the original recording of this song. The lyrics are her feelings after seeing Don McLean in concert.

  • @katirlp just because flack sang the original, doesnt mean she has the best version

  • @katirlp i dont think roberta did the original. I think it may have been frank sinatra or perry como. but I am not absolutely certain. I like most versions though. Its a great song in its various interpritations. Wonder what it would sound like in metal or rock.

  • pretty good but aint got none on the fugees

  • I like Alicia keys, I love her music. But she should not have tried this. Don't lose our respect alicia, stay with what you can do.

  • stay in your lane keys. this song sounds bad when she song it,

  • the song is not Lauryn Hill's... it's Roberta Flack's in the 70's....

  • @panasiviri only the chorus though you fucking idiot

  • @panasiviri It's not Roberta Flack's, either. The original singer was Lori Liebermann. The music was composed by Charles Fox. Give that version a listen, I personally like it best.

  • @Articorse oh really?? interesting! let me check it out! thank you! :D

  • @panasiviri No problem, dude. :)

  • @Articorse Wow, man. I just listened to the original version. I always thought that Roberta's was the original one. I just have to say THANK YOU. It's very beautiful!

  • @panasiviri

It's really funny. People are so quick to use words like original, and apply ownership to a song. I like Roberta Flack's the most, but it's an opinion, and every artist is entitled to interpreting a song as their own. And, guess what, Roberta Flack has nothing to do with the creation of this song. It was a girl named Lori Lieberman who wrote a poem inspired by seeing Don Mclean in concert. Two men helped turn it into a song, and Lori, the writer, recorded it first.

  • nice version , u cant really compare the orignal its goin to sound better as it was written for that person

  • This sounds like a church version!

  • Wow people chill! We can agree that they're both incredible singers. I still however, like Lauryn's version better, it's more soothing and the feeling is stronger.

  • i disagree.. thats 2 totally different styles of voices & da way this song was sang.. i perfer lauryns version simply cuz ets soulful & chilled..alicia is an amazing singer true enough i luv da both of them. lauryn hill ALSO did an acopello version & ets just as good as her studio voice so that has nothing 2 do wit y hers is more recommended by ppl... in my opinion this song isnt made 4 everybody & lauryn hill just prosecuted et better. just listen 2 Roberta Flack version. u'll see..

  • dope! can't touch Laurens swag though :) Not about the voice ONLY.

  • rifa mas lauryn

  • i luv alica keys, but artist like whitney houston, mariah carey, michael jackson and lauryn hill...you cant really remake their songs! they are too distinguished in sound and RAW talent.....

  • it started well but then she screams, she didn't killed it softly. Instead to hard

  • Oh A l i c i a you are killing me .....

  • she will killing me is so sweet

  • sorry only roberta!

  • melanie fionas version is amazing

  • she is beyond beautiful.

  • the fact od the matter is this is laurns song

  • Ok to be realists, Τhere can be NO comparison. Lauren is an authority.

  • she sound okay but its nothing like sitting in your room listening to some Lauryn Hill

  • Roberta Flack did 5 million times better ;)

  • Alicia plz dont do mess wit this Lauren did it the best

  • @MzCnajohnson Roberta Flack did it the best

  • Alicia keys is so damn gorgeous!

  • I am sorry but this did not do it for me AT ALL!!! And I adore AK!!!!

  • @mercyojwang i agree!

  • Do you Have In Instrumentle Version of This Egsaclyy !!??

  • her voice is the best!

  • shit quality

  • With all my respect, I feel she doesn't deserve to sing this song, because she cannot feel this song. She is a girl of a rich neighborhood.

  • @joselinbogarra if you think a being raised by a single mother in Hell's Kitchen is "of a rich neighbourhood"

  • beautiful, she mad it her own. you go alicia!

  • 22 PPL are killing me softly

  • Alicia is a great singer, but this doesnt even come close to Lauryns version, not even the original, Roberta, Luther, any modern or industry legend can make this song sound and feel as good as the Fugees.

  • very good she can sing anything

  • She did a great job.

  • if you live in La come this thursday to the @ElevenNightclub you'll see an amazing talent......her name is allison iraheta

  • bohat aala. background paino aur bhi aala. wah wah.

  • @MrBdean52 No she doesn't you fool. She sings very well. I bet you look and sound like a duck! You don't have any knowledge in music I bet. Her voice is very beautiful, don't be a hater!

  • Alicia's voice is amazing

  • i feel like alicia did better with the chourus, but lauren still owned the versers

  • Alicia takes any song and just makes it her own. Gosh I love the way she puts "soul" into anything she does. =)

  • roberta flack all the way

  • Comment removed

  • very very true and im a big unconditional fan of alicia keys

  • Roberta Flack's version is awesome, Alicia's version is soulful but I must say Lauren Hill's version is my favorite

  • Everyone saying "Lauryn Hill does this song so much better" is wrong. Lauryn's version was recorded in a studio. This is live, and Alicia is playing piano while singing. She also sings it a full octave higher than Lauryn, hitting bigger notes. I'm sure that if Alicia were to record this in the studio it'd be even better than Lauryn's. By the way, I think they're both incredible.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers

i heard few live versions by lauryn hill but still think that her version is outstanding~

    that's my opinion ^^

  • @jayhwaluvv I think they're both outstanding, but personally prefer Alicia Keys' version.

  • @jayhwaluvv Um, it's actually The Fugees, not Lauryn Hill

  • @starrtwentyone yes,it is and Lauryn Hill is part of the fugees..aint it?since the comment from @SierraLorraineBowens talk about Lauryn its understanderble that i reply stating Lauryn hill instead of The fugees..right..?

  • @jayhwaluvv Yes it's understandable. Was just pointing it out that's all.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers So you just assume that everyone thinks it´s better just because the recorded studio version ? if so.

You should really listen to Lauryn Hills live sessions and i promise you she sings it so much better.

  • @MrBaerta Maybe so. I haven't heard Lauryn's live version. I was comparing the Alicia Keys version to this particular one, and I prefer Alicia's. I know Lauryn's an outstanding singer, so I'm sure her live sessions are great, but I like the way Alicia takes the song up an octave and really belts out those big notes. For me, Lauryn sings this song a bit too low. That's all.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers I mean The Fugee's version to this particular one.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers Alicia Keys Had Backup Vocals. Lauryn Hill Will Forever be better. You're fuckin Delusional to think otherwise.

  • @StatisticCitations That's your opinion.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers i think you enjoy the light skinned artist better. thats what im thinking. Wont admit that a Dark Black Woman With Strong Roots Can sing better than A Light, Perfect skin? Yeah, I Know.

  • @StatisticCitations No way, you've got it all wrong. I've never heard anything so crazy in my life. I love Lauryn Hill, I just like Alicia Key's rendition of this song more than Lauryn's. There are plenty of Lauryn's songs that I prefer over Alicia's. I don't care how dark their skin is; that's ridiculous.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers fair enough.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers i think alicia does it vey good, but she hasnt thhis blessed negro voice. you'll never get annoyed of lauryn hills voice, like whitney houston.

  • @nyyyankee I agree Lauryn has a very rich, soulful voice. I love Lauryn Hill's voice. I prefer Alicia's version of this particular song, but overall I think Lauryn is the better singer. She's just got that raw, passionate voice that comes from deep down (just like Whitney Houston, who I also adore), while Alicia's voice is more throaty/raspy. Alicia's pretty good, but Lauryn's just got something that can't be touched.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers its not the fact that people sayin lauren version was better because lauren sings better than alicia. everyone with an ear can hear that alicia voice is prettier but its the style which they sing it that differs the quality. alicia's version is more on the elegant/classy style. just so happens people tend to perfer lauren's more shall i say, upbeat/roots/soulful version more. but like they say different strokes for different folk!

  • @Talisa20 Good point. Maybe their voices shouldn't even be compared. Their styles are just so different. I think they both do well in their own right. And I just love this song.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers exactly! i love them both as well :D

  • @SierraLorraineBowers You: Everyone who doesn't share my opinion is WRONG.

    Get real girl.

  • @EdMajinLee199999 You're right, I shouldn't have said it the way I did. When I said "everyone saying Lauryn Hill did this so much better is wrong" I should've said "I personally think Alicia Keys' version is better and this is why..." I'm sorry, and thank you for saying that because I didn't realize how it sounded. I'm actually embarrassed, because I didn't mean to sound like such a bitch. Lots of people prefer Lauryn's version, and that's fine with me cuz soul is soul and they both got it.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers I appreciate your honest reply. You have more courage than 90% of youtube admitting this.

  • @EdMajinLee199999 Thanks, I try to always man up when I'm wrong.

  • @SierraLorraineBowers

There are videos of Lauryn singing this live too. Lauryn Hill has a beautiful voice, Alicia Keys does too. They are completely different vocal types.

    Apples and oranges.

  • @Moonhumming totally agree with you on this one! (:

  • @SierraLorraineBowers I totally agree with what you are saying, but Keys' version is in A minor, while Hill's version is in E minor. That means a fourth, not an octave.

  • @Muthaphuckka Oh, ok. I was never any good at music theory. lol.

  • lindaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • we sang this song in school and it was terrible... But in opposite to this its the best song you ever heard!

  • I love Alicia but this song is not for her!

  • Hey back up singers are holding her up in this song.

  • SHI IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great!

  • this was a good version but seeing as people keep getting the facts wrong i'll comment as well. The original was written by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel. It was first recorded by Lori Lieberman and has been covered by multiple artists over the years. Most notable covers are from Roberta Flack in 1973 and the Fugees in 1996.

  • love it :) x

  • both good

  • lol lauren hill didnt do the original it was roberta flack.....the fugees was massive tho ive never seen an album with such a big impact to this day ..everyone was bumpin the fugeeeeeeees ;)

  • @2bigboobs01 When I 1st saw Deja Vue (I hope it's spelled correctly) I thought Paula was Alicia for a short while. lol..

  • @2bigboobs01 i knowwww lol

  • Got to see Roberta Flack as a very young musician in Washington, D.C. when she was an unknown. Snuck into the bar where she played because we heard how great she was. Glad to know that the young stars still take lessons from prior talent to keep the feeling alive.
