EQ was EPIC, up until they started putting in teleports everywhere and once that damn bazaar hit. Before all that, it was an awesome game that actually had amazing LORE and followed it until they had to put in more LORE. I would literally zone out and feel like I was in the game.

EQ = a pure 100% fantasy based MMORPG. WoW is not that, it didn't have the dragons, mountain giants, etc etc based on fantasy books.

I hope I don't sound rude here, but I used to play MMO's a lot when I was younger. I'm 30 now and Play Everquest 2 on my free time, but I can't help but notice that these guys talk as if Everquest is their whole life. It's kind of pathetic to me. There's more to life then sitting on the computer playing eq and stuffing you're face eating Cheetos, getting fat, because you are not getting any exercise.

I remember playing the original EQ on the nameless server,and the community was amazing.People actually made an effort to talk to everyone.When I played WoW,nobody ever payed attention to me...it seemed kind of lonely.I met the craziest,nicest people on this game! Days weren't always spent leveling,but just goofing off!There was so much to do!

This game laid the foundation and was the originator for what you consider a "WoW-Like" game today. Nothing will ever come close to EverQuest to. Never again will you see a game as fun, involved and with an awesome community like EverQuest did.

WoW wasn't groundbreaking. EQ was.

EQ was the first 3d MMO and almost every feature in WoW was seen in one form or another in EQ.

So EQ in my opinion contrary to yours, is better on the basis of originality and ingenuity. It was made on technology that stretched the limits, whereas WoW was conveniently made after 6-7 others had already preceded it. so gg

I like cartoony graphics, but I'm not that fond of Warcraft. Haven't really found a good outlet yet. I've tried EQ, EQOA, EQII, WoW, WAR, and various free mmo's. Nothing really suits me. I wish True Fantasy Live Online hadn't been canceled.

Oh yeah, I also played DAoC for a while. It was okay, but I could never level my character, and it felt dead. I dunno, maybe all MMO's are just dead, and me, being 18, will never see a good MMO. and with crappy games like AoC being the only shit that comes out, that's highly likely.

I've tried UO, DAOC, Asheron's Call, EQ, & WAR, I think among them, UO and EQ really are pioneers in their era, I think that no other games/ MMOs (so far) in the sense of originality, the class, the game settings, and all that stuff, are better than these 2.

sepcially EQ "forces" everybody to unite and do ONE great thing like raids, we are talking about hundreds of players hello, this is just amazing!!!!! I'll never forget that....(EQ is so hardcore though..)

I'm pretty sure WoW players look exactly the same as EQ players :) Most likely, former EQ players are recent WoW players and... well... WoW & EQ players are regular people with no extreme make-up and photoshop. Plus... WoW would be nothing without EQ. EQ is the legendary MMO; Blizzard got their basis game-play off EQ. You can tell.

Wow.. this is so interesting and a great "slice of life" view of this subculture. I'm not a gamer myself, but I can definitely see parallels between gaming addiction and Internet addiction (which I currently suffer from:P). I'm very interested in the theme of escapism and the intensity of a virtual reality..
