To get them a little more internet publicity, I'm trying to round up people to like their Facebook page, help 'em out a little. I did so already along with (hopefully) many to come.
They did some songs with Slash last year not sure why or what became of them. Reggie doing comedy and parodies is fine, but I hope he doesn't lose track of his music. It would be a crying shame.
If anyone has this album can you upload some of their songs? I remember my friend found the album online. Showed me the song Motherfucker and a couple. I really don't want to miss out on this majesty.
Far and away my favorite new band in ages. Soulful lyrics & vocals, incredible swelling keys, nice guitar lics and some of the best hooks going today! Amazing someone like these guys can stay under the radar while recycled gimicks and dance pop divas like lady gagme have the full support of MTV & their corporate dictated cool!
Anyone that likes this group would most likely enjoy the group TV on the Radio which is similar to Maktub or the band Lee Fields and the Expressions. Lee Fields has a similar pronounce voice and incredible band backing him up. Lee Fields music is a little more soul-ish though.
maktub are truly indie artitsts. by looking for free torrents, you are really harming the artists not some faceless company. They're cd's aren't that expensive and they are currently available on iTunes and Amazon. This song is off of Khronos.
They released they're current cd, FIVE, last July as a thank you to we fans for free. If you don't want to pay for their music, go to their site and look for FIVE.
i first heard of them when i was in seattle in 2003 and they were the rage . there was a big article written on them in this seattle music paper . Seattle a cool place to have a good time .
I hate to burst your bubble, but Maktub is not only still together, but they are working on a new album. Go to their site and sign up to their mailing list.
I know maktub personally, theyre a cool group. I first met them at a festival called "Womad".. im sad that it doesnt exist anymore... but back to the point, they're sound is pretty diverse (which is good), man, i miss those days
I can't for the life of me understand why this band has flown under the radar for so long. I first saw them in Seattle in 2003, and have caught them in SF 3 times since (including at the Tongue & Groove show, diveflix!)
that's a good band! Love reggie's voice and the band is tight. My first night out in San Francisco they rocked at the Tongue & Groove. Good times! Keep on fighting the good fight, Maktub. The girl is eye-candy, BTW ;-)
Yeah and it makes me sad too. He did a solo record a few years ago that was very commercial R&B. It was kinda deliberate in trying to nab a hit but it was really really good. Went totally unnoticed. Maybe he figures Jamie Foxx was ignored as a musician but made it in comedy so....
Maktub is amazing just like their name. Maktub is destiny in some middle eastern language.

The album Khronos (which this song is from) is absolutely fantastic! Go and buy it if you like this song. There are better tracks on the album.

Reggie is with serj tankian and jack black the most talented singer. in my oppinion:
1. serj tankian
2. reggie watts
3. jack black

You have to add Gnarls Barkley to that list bro...
