It depends on how big and professional the show is but it's rare to find a techy who can only do one thing. For example on the last show I worked on I ended up as ASM, 2nd Sound and occaisonal follow spot. And for my next show I'll be SM, lighting designer and by the sounds of things, everything else!
I'm tech crew at a university in London, we are about ten strong. In our last production (just finished), I was in set construction, lighting configuration and follow spot operator. I was just wondering whether this multiplicity of roles is normal in a larger crew, or whether people tend to stick to one role only. Ta in advance.
