@DreadedLeopard You would need to be given something else then because you can only be missing one variable or you can't solve for anything. The formula for the x and y direction would still be the same so you would plug in what you know and solve for what you don't. I hope this helps.
@hypeblast Just above the part on the board where we did that, you will see written Fx - Ff=ma So if you substitute numbers for each variable you get 34 - 10 = 20a (We skipped that step) When you rearrange this to bring the 20 over to the other side by dividing both sides by 20 you get (34 - 10)/20 = a
So the 20 was the mass and it needed to be brought over to the other side to solve for "a" I hope this helps, let me know if you need more clarification.

on time 4:42 why did you divide Fx-Ff/(20kg)?

yo man nice video. the acceleration which i got is 1.73m/s^2. its a lot different when u take g as 9.8 and 40 cos30 as 34.6
mozam007 1 year ago
Fg is calculated as Fg = mg. We used g = 10 instead of 9.8 so you get Fg = 200 kg X 10 N/kg = 200N.
Hope that helps.

how did Fg become 200N?

haha, 20times square root of 3 is 7... violate rules of math and physics!
