wow that's great to catch a break on the cost. sometimes you get lucky like that. with this car I didn't catch one break!!! not one... but I still loved it and will build another one one day... good luck.. like I said in another comment, if need help go read up on norotors.com... they have all the info you will ever need..
I loved my rotary engine. When it wouldn't pass emissions this year, I sold the engine to some guy for $850 and bought a 1973 350 with 50,000 on the rebuild. Pulled it out of a truck with the transmission. I bought that truck for $750. I scrapped it for $400. All in all, I have not worked for a penny of the swap. hahaha
yd you build this and what it cost what year 350 and stuff just bought a na rx7 and wanna build a cheap drift car and rotarys blow to easy and my gpa knows everything about chevy v8s so let me know your power and stuff
it's hard to make a 350 fit under the hood, however it can be done. it's impossible to make a 5.0 fit without cutting the hood. other than cutting the hood for some motors, you can use any motor you want as long as it will fit between the strut towers... there's enough room for a big block if that's your thing. go to norotors.com if you have questions about the instal. there are vendors and experts there to help..:-)
first.... you sound like a fucking idiot!! and in the future you should stick to making up random rules to your own game of house and let me worry about what my fc us called...that way, if you ever have your own car you take pride calling it whatever you like and not worry about some idiot kid on the Internet.... dig?
I agree with you 100% its your car and you can do what you like with your money but do not say this is a FC RX7 when it is not. Everyone and their mothers know that a RX7 is strictly no pistons. I'm hoping you are aware that a car is its engine, not the body. Once you change the engine then you change the name of the car to the engine you installed. when you obtain a Haynes manual do you (A) get the RX7 manual or (B) get the manual of what engine you installed. Sorry for being honest!
@kzoney That is probably THE most ignorant thing I've heard. Had a teacher in school with an older Camaro. Had the engine and transmission from an S10. Did that make it an S10? The engine does not make the car. If that was the case, a 13b swapped Mazda pickup would be an RX-7. Everything coming together to make a car that works best for your purpose is what makes the car. The FC just happens to be a good setup for basically any engine swap. And they are sexy.
@clutch23q yes I really wanted the car on the road. After my third rotary I had to do something else. @cerbera89 the motor in this vid is a first gen small block. 272 cam. x pipe duals and very good quality n1 cans..
Nice work with the swap, sounds real nice. Must be something else when its approching someone, i bet they look twice wondering what the hell is that v8 note coming out of that fc. If you don't mind answering, what gen is that 350 btw?
where the hell are you guys finding these engines to buy?? lol XD i really want a TII with tranny and intercooler. Please post a website i really want to purchase one
All these rotary guys are hilarious, I must get a hate mail once a day on my videos...everyone has a different preference, its ppl with no lives who actually surf this site and bitch at ppl who put v8s in there. Fuck em ...what can u do. Have fun with what you like. U cant please everyone.
whats wrong with originality? how many of those do you think hes ever seen? you can have a "me too" car if you want. btw im putting a 350 in my porsche 944. parts on the way. fucking VROOOOM!
maybe the guys talking shit about "oh you couldnt make it fast with the normal motor so you took the easy way out" need to shut the fuck up, just because your driving a peice of shit honda dosent mean you talk shit, and besides he can get more horse power out of this than a fucking rotary engine anyday.
prolly so OR when setting it up maybe it ran rich for a few days or something. hell ive got a gen 2 vert that the 13b sent south FAR south. to overhaul it was far more than the conversion im doing so far. not a v8, BUT a 3.8 6 cyl out of a mid 90's stang. got in the last parts i needed today actually so it goes under the knife to finish very soon. am looking forward to driving it ALOT, engine i bought also came wiht a supercharger as well so ill like it.
ummm... you can find TII's for around $800... and it'll last longer than a Ford engine... plus all the harnesses and adapters and new tranny... dunno what numbers ur pullin up but trust me... stickin with the stock engine's almost always cheaper... unless you have some old ass car with an engine that nobody else has... and the shit on the back is just karma...
it's not that I have to have rotary or nothing... I'm fine with pistons... but after driving an FC... I fell in love with the way rotary engines feel... it's something different and unique and it's fun explaining it to people... and it's funny as shit leavin someone in the dust with a 1.3L... it has no rev limit and lasts forever... easiest shit to work on... and wayyyy smoother in acceleration than a piston engine.. to each their own.. but rotaries are awesome regardless..
@jasonabsence its all good. just sucks having the purist dump in your vid, you know? i actually hate to talk bad about the rotary despite its flaws. when people give me shit about changing the motor though, its hard not to point out the obvious...
@drivinggodspeed fuck the purist, v8 or rotary so what, its your car and its your choice of what to do with it, i love FC's and i love the rotary but i wouldnt have on the v8 and say i get bored of the 13b or it fcks up on me ill just drop a V8 in it, whateva it takes to keep my car on the road.
whats funny is his car makes power now...and your just crying cause you love to read about your favvv car when he is modding one.........riiiiiiiicccccceerrrrr...............nice rx7 im doing a ls1 240(rx7 id love more)
have you ever even heard of a TII? that's all the fuckin power you need.. people get those up to 300hp easy... you can even get it over 800hp and it's no more expensive than gettin a piston engine to 800hp..
yes but as since your ignoring the reliability in the whole long tearm...im saying this i have seen 800 horse v8 last 2 years...i have seen 500rotary tuned very well last one month....i like anything fast but i like fast that last longer
why the hell does everyone think rotaries don't last long? they seriously don't die... I just bought a car with over 200k miles on it and it still ran completely fine... it had blown coolant seals which just made the low coolant buzzer go off all the time... so ya it was annoying but at least it still drove perfectly... good luck drivin an engine with a blown head gasket... can't go more than 3 miles without permanently fuckin the whole thing up...
i had a 92 rx that lasted 3 months.........and only had 94xxx on it....and have you ever blown a rotary...they cost more to fix then the cars worth if you can find someone to do it.....sooo after your asshole raping you get your car back
what the fuck did you do to it?? it has 94k on it and it blows in the 3 months you had it?? did you drive it off a cliff or somethin? you seriously musta treated the car like shit... and the engines are easy as fuck to redo... or just buy a new engine... they're only $1300 for the TII with tranny and intercooler... and what went wrong after the 3 months anyways? I HIGHLY doubt the engine just simply stopped starting.
fuck em dude. unless you have actually owned BOTH a v8 and rotary RX-7, then you have no idea. speed is speed, and the V8 is way more capable/reliable/efficient/cheap/fun than any rotary engine. the end.
btw, you can check my videos of mine when i used to have it. i soooo want to build another one :/
hey quarvis, i saw that car of yours last night. you don't even have a rotory motor!!! it's not even an rx7. how the hell are you going to race with that piece of shit???
well, it doesn't run an 11.5 now. it has an lt1 now and it's ok. its definately faster than rotaries with alot more power..even a 20b i know, but i'm building a turbo 5.3 so lots of power is coming.:)
how do you figure that the v8 is slower ?first, second ,i belive you can modify anything to be fast, including your beloved riding mower.i have both an rx7 with a v8 and one with the rotory and im sorry my v8 kills the rotory !third i could build up my rotory to keep up with the v8 ,but as a friend on mine that has been raceing rotories for a while says you spend tons of money and sometimes they only last a couple of weeks ?not me
w/e why would you want to build up a v8 they cost way more then a rotary to build up I know because I owned a chev pick up with a 350. I love rotary's for the size that the are and the power that they put out! I don't know what you've been smokin man but last time I checked v8's dont last long at the drap strip either, and if your dumb enuff to daily drive your drag car you engine desurves to explode durrrr da durrrrrrr
once again ,i dont know where you get your info but i have at least 100 passes on my v8 and im still not dont tunning it ,i have about 7500 total in my motor including all acc.carb, intake ,nos, electronics, distributer, ect.and its forge all the way,my friend with the rotory that is constantly reibuilding them, has 4500.00 just in the bottom in not to mention 10000 worth of power adders and electronics,i think it is safe to say the v8 is much cheaper!with just that i could rebuild my whole car.
man have you got some haters!dont worrie about them ,when they come rollin up in there mini vans just laugh your ass off.if that car is running 11.50 its doing fine for a 500 dollar engine .cooper is all worried about the suspention? why ?my v8 only wieghs 200lbs more than ther rotory omg thats soooo awfull lol....
lol looks like it was pushin blue when you fired it up ls1? more like 350 from a junk yard hope for your sake you rebuilt it lol cause id be even more sad if you just threw it in as is.baysnrupert racing?dennis pireno? little feild super chargers????chet herbert? all those guys make real v8's not those pieces of de tuned fuel economicle v8s they have in all the wanna be muscle cars these days. you never answered my last question from my last post about wether or not you beefed up the front sus?
I'm not going to waffle on about if this is a good idea or not. What I will say is that if my 13B-T can make 300hp with only light tune, all emissions, power steer etc, then it stands to reason that the rotary has a better power per litre ratio than the V8. It is basic mathmatics. As for the comments that you have to rebuild every 1-2 yrs is nonsense, same with the boost comments. If done right which it often isn't, a rotor can last a lot longer than people think. Respect.
a turbo rotary making any power doesn't last. it just doesn't. i hate to sound like a rotary hater because i'm not, but rotaries DIE UNDER BOOST. and how does a 13bt (that's forced induction folks) making 300 equate to rotaries having a better liter ratio and why is that relative to anything having to do with cars OR to this video? i could see if it made mpg go up...but it doesn't.
i wish mazda or somebody would imporve the design enough to change reliability or at least make it more fuel efficent so that they could build a bigger version to get power from, but until then you'll just have to swap it out!!!
Because the capacity of the 13b is so much smaller it make's more power per litre. If you need to ask what that has to do with cars you shouldnt be swinging spanner's. It's not all about how big your engine is but but how you make the power. A 13B is classed as a 1.3 litre, If I'm making 300 do the math.
It also has a lot to do with physic's. Reciprocating mass vs rotating, less energy wasted making pistons change direction.
As for not lasting, I guess I got that magical one that lasted fine
this just keeps getting harder for you guys. NO, it doesn't matter how you make the power. how you transfer energy doesn't move anything. the amount of energy transformed is what moves you and how much. not one single person driving should care how. they should however care about: how much power (rotary=less overall), cost(rotary=poor mpg, high maintenance),reliability(rotary=very poor overall), ability(rotary=higher parts, higher labor, less abundance).
also, it's not a 1.3. if you don't realize that then you don't need to be post here. there is a reason why rotaries consume more gas but than other motors with the same power, it is because they are actually cobusting more than you think. and why turbos suited for larger motors work well on rotaries. it is because rotaries take in that much air. they can't take in the air with magic. laws of physics don't change just for the rotary. with out a turbo it breaths just like a poor v6.
the "magic" is actually how you calculate cumbustion, and since the rotaries combustion cycle is different it really wouldn't be fair to use the same equation now would it??? it's more than just common sense.
If you contact me I can show you that a 13B can make more than 350 Hp with no forced induction and still be reliable. offcourse is not going to last 100,000 miles but if you can get that amount of HP per liter on any V8 it will only last about a 1/4 of the life of the rotary with this HP numbers. Anything under turbocharging is promp to brake down at any time is just a fact and this goes to all engines not just rotaries.
i don't care about what liter the motor is. it doesn't weigh enough less and it gets less MPG. its not reliable, and it cost more to fix. which part of this is hard to understand for you guys? i like to drive cars...not spend all my money feeding and fixing them....and i like to win a race every once in while as well!!
well than I guess Mazda has won more Grand Am races than any other manufactures with this unreliable motor that you are talking about.mmmm .... I guess you must know a lot about rotaries and the history begin them.
thats sweet, what kind of gas milage do you get, im assuming not too bad with the weight of the car. where did you get the motor mounts, what special stuff did you have to fab to get it all going? i might do this swap with a carb'd small block
......fifth, ...bottom line here is that this car ran 11.5 as it sits (with the bad powervalve and no timing light). the motor cost $500. not my first chioce, but it did fine until i realized that it wouldn't do fine. you can't make another rx7 as fast for the money nor on pump gas. while especially driving for very long without it blowing up...like a 13b.
fourth...powervalve blew early on ~genious~ and i didn't want to change it untill some of the more important bugs were worked out. people with no permission kept screwing with stuff is why the wires were crossed in the first place.
rotaries die under boost (fact). a three rotor(which by the way ruins the handling because it sits so far forward)makes only about 320 without turbos, and an eccentric shaft in the 4 cost nearly 20k. so i don't want to hear about how great the rotards think the rotary is.....third, you cannot tune this motor better than me or any of the people that have worked on it nor could you put such a well built car together with the budget that i've had.
this is going to take a while...so you'll have to read ABOVE!!
.....first, i'm not a kid. you on the other hand have alot of growing up to do as well as alot to learn about cars and i don't care what kind of experience you have.
.....second, rotaries do suck. for intents and purposes they are unreliable and underpowered...READ ABOVE^
give the kid a break, anyone willing to tun a wench helps keep this sport alive. let the kid shoehorh a v8 in a rice rocket, isn't that what made this sport come alive (remember the COBRA)?? KEEP IT NOT STOCK!! To all you people out there that think you can tune this better ,give the kid some advise.
thanks for the kind words...i guess!! this is kind of an old video and it's got an lt1 now. 5.3 turbo in the works...and you don't really have to shoehorn this motor. in an rx7 the sbmotors fit better than any car that they came stock in (in the last 15 or 20 yrs). plenty of room, lighter weight, stiffer chassis, better suspension. they called the fc the corvette killer and it still holds true for pretty much any vette but the c6 zo6...but not for FD's.
If you think this motor sounds bad ass in any way? Your as ignorant as the idiot that posted the video with his ignorant comments about the rotary motor. I have seen mopeds that will out run this piece of shit! I'll put money on it any day any time!!! Not worth commenting further on the subject, considering the audience.
Buy the way the briggs in the lawn tractor has the same valve designe as the boat anchor engine in your car lol.hope you din't pay more the 400$ for that 300hp and and that 500pounds you just added to the front of your car? did you modifie the front suspention to make up for all that weight in the front end or and you hopping your girlfriends ass in the trunk's gonna even it all out?
first, the rotary is not much lighter than a sb. not enough in fact to have to change the suspension. less even in fact than a 20b(less power)because that motor sits so far forward. and yes, the motor in this vid did in fact cost $500. not the motor in the car now, but it was good enough at the time to get the car converted intially. second, spelling and grammer are not your friends. third, you could only hope to have girlfriends like mine. from the look of your vid they must be wearing flannel.
hey kid!!! why the long face?? i guess you're just too much trouble. tried to keep you on here, but i don't handle obsessives very well. hope you move out of moms house and find your own place soon, and for god sake seek pro help...or get a G.E.D!!!your writing is terrible. it really does remind me of a fifth or sixth grader.
YOu basically have a Japanese Trans Am now LOL c',oom people a small light rear wheel drive car and a nasty ass Ls1 V8.were talking rollor coaster ride from HELL!you can bleet all ya wanna about the rotorys but nothings sweeter sounding than this dudes V8 RX7!
I am just wondering what mufflers you have on your car. I have summit turbo mufflers on my 350 v8 rx7 and i dont care for the sound as much out of mine. I love the sound your getting. let me know and check out my vids' thanx!
go back and read my 1st sentence, "instant power for little money." you were saying the v8 makes the 7's better, and i disagree. and when you think about it, its really not all that cheap, i'll bet once you pull a v8 out of the junk yard and have it rebuilt you'll probably have close to 3 grand invested. when you can buy a full blooded raceing 13b from mazdatrix already ported w/ emissions removed for under 2k....
right....and 2k more next year...and the next..and the next and that's if you can make a powerful 13b last more than a year. actually my motor cost 500 for the one you see. 430hp. it has an lt1 now and that was 900 for everything with 60k miles..sure it's not as powerfull...but it should still run 12.2's....try making a rotary do that for $900. hell, better yet. try making it do that on pump gas with the a/c and power steering..oh wait..YOU CAN'T!!!
Racing 13B=NO torque. V8=instantaneous power+balance(LS1 swap). LS1 engine pullout: $3200 w/tranny. I dont know where you are looking on mazdatrix, but i didnt find ANY rotary engine on there that was worth a damn for less than $4800. chalk another one up for the V8's please.
the only advantage i see in this is instant power for little money. i disagree that it improves the RX-7 when i know what rotaries are capable of...try a custom built 26b n/a w/aluminum houseings and rotors pushing well over 1,000 horses...thats impresive power not to mention a next to impossible to beat power to weight ratio...
generally i would just delete this kind of thing...but its so retarded that i just have to reply. first, what does a 26b have to do with everyone here.....on the planet earth? the shaft alone cost 20k... why don't you just say something else stupid like "why don't you put a rocket on it instead of one of those stupid gasoline engines?"
iam in the progress of doing the same, but iam gonna run ricer mufflers, but i will have the staight pipe baffle plate too, haha you would except to see a truck or old mucsle car coming down the road when you here this bad boy
Rotary engines are insanely gay with their wabbling triangle, they have nothing on a chevy v8. If 100hp per liter is 100% efficiency, what about the 5.7 liter engines with like 800hp are they beyond perfect like some shit NASA would use in a spaceship?
this isn't a rotor bashing site...but they are not as good overall of a motor....and they are 2.6 liters. you guys that are too retarded to post automatically get deleted...faux..whateverthefuck can suck a nut.
ill do u one better, ill give you a 2.6L engine with half the cylinders; a bored&stroked SRT-4 engine. even that engine would shit all over any Rotary engine.
I think the word you're looking for is "radial", not rotary. OH, and most propellor driven aircraft are powered by a flat engine (with the exception being turboprop aircrafts)
the total volume between the rotor and the rotor housing is 2.6L. the actual volume of air/fuel that is COMBUSTED is 1.3L; but im sure that you already knew that. bottom line is this; being a previous owner of both rotary equipped and V8-equipped RX-7's, V8 FTMFW. there isnt a rotary, no matter how modded, that can hang with an equally modded V8. the end.
first off, there are fuckin motorcycles (R1 in specific) that are smaller in displacement, have more horsepower and have WAY more potential than a 1.3L rotard engine. second, it is physically impossible for any combustion engine to attain 100% efficiency. if you want to argue, i will write you an email explaining the fundamentals of combustion engine mechanics & physics. third, saying that a rotary engine is a 1.3L is like saying that an LS1 is actually a .7L .
first, rotaries are 2.6...saying that you can get more than 100% effiency just proves how stupid you are. wake up!!! rotaries suck... get over it and move out of the parents house!!!!
last post i swear....regaurdless, every version of the rx7 is improved with a v8 in every way. more power potential for less money, more reliably controlls that power, better milage, and with an aluminum block.....BETTER WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION...
A small block w/steel heads weighs a little more up front. it's not bad though and the car still drives great. lt1, a little better. my friend w/ an lt1 10ae actually said his car was rear weight bias (go figure). an aluminum LS motor in an rx7 weighs the same as turbo versions with a BETTER weight distribution....did you hear what i said...BETTER WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION..
has everyone smoked crack today before logging in? i doubt either of you cracksmokers have had both a rotary and v8 rx7....most of you probably haven't even owned both in different cars. furthermore, i don't see anyone here quailified to argue either way, but let me break it down for you....a v8 rx7 is better. READ ON TO MY NEXT POST!!
before i get started.....inline 6's are perfectly balance piston engines....v8's are only one coupling away from being perfectly balanced. the reason rotories do so well is because they reside inside the rx7...give the car a little credit. it wins even with an inferior motor.
For those of you who don't have a rotory engine, or have never had one should shut the hell up and go play with your pistons. rotor is deffently more powerful than pistons. if you think its nothing more than a spinning triangle then you should read up on it. the rotory can be made into one of the best engine's smoke v-8s bro smoke v-8s
People should keep comments to themselves. Rotaries are cool, but I'd rather have pistons, valves and a cam rather than just some pretty unreliable pieces of iron with seals spinning really fast.
yeah, i don't want to give you guys the impression that i hate rotaries. i love n/a 3rotors actually, but i'm not a fan of "purist" who don't know what they are talking about. even the ones who sound like they know don't really know if they think that the rotary is a better motor. it's not. it's just a cool motor with the best japanese chassy to date wrapped around it. nothing more...
yea i like rotaries too, and purists are pretty gay. i've seen some different swaps on here like a 2JZ swapped in a S2000, some people were like that's gay. Even though everyone knows the Supra motors are pretty pissed off.
Yea but see the rotary engine is way better than your pistons. SOrry its true. And in a few yrs from now your pistons will be no good cuz theres a new rotary engine thats comming out. More fule efficient less less less vibration. and it dosnt make so much noise.
No one really builds the Rotary. There's a good reason. Alot of people swap in 2JZ's or some kind of small block V8. The day the rotary is better than pistons is the day Michael Jackson will become black again. No rotary will ever touch let's say the LS7, in reliability, efficiency, and power.
HAha well we'll see in about 5 more years. Oh and the reason ppl over here in the states dont touch rotary gins that much is because most americans dont understand how they work. Think about what makes more power a piston that goes up and down which vibrates the engine so much or a rotor that keeps spining and evens every thing out. I mean a 13B Rew is known as the V-8 killer. a 20B kills the V12. and the 20B Rew matches the V16
are you joking??? B16's only rev fast in neutral..LOL! an truth be known, with a different exhaust (i have neighbors), mine is far more responsive....but without, it is still three times more powerfull (without a power adder)...haha "rotaries are more capable"...who told you that? that's the most assenine thing i've ever heard!!
Well, if your speaking in terms of being more cost affective, I think you made the right choice. To upgrade a rotory engine, it cost more than the car itself, so from that perspective cool, but the rotory is more capable (i own 2nd gen N/A). There's no replacement for displacement, but the smaller the engine, the quicker the response.. B16A for example ;)
Im not gonna talk shit IM going to tell you thats badass right there mang! good show upload more videos of that ride of yours. I have a 95 BMW 318i Supercharged
no,...what i should have done was sell my house and invested in xm satalite radio. what the hell do you know about what i should or shouldn't do? FTW, all of you rotary guys that don't know anything about this conversion that just want to talk shit, go somewhere else or i'll just use my magic powers and delete your stupid ass remarks..;)
My dad sold a 74 RX4 with a 70 LT1 in it. Shit was scary, but if we we're smarter 3 yrs ago and actually put on some slicks or drags radials, at triple digit speeds it'd actually have traction lol. For the last couple years, I've been trying to find the RX4 he sold. I guess there isn't alot around..Badass car though man.
wow that's great to catch a break on the cost. sometimes you get lucky like that. with this car I didn't catch one break!!! not one... but I still loved it and will build another one one day... good luck.. like I said in another comment, if need help go read up on norotors.com... they have all the info you will ever need..

I loved my rotary engine. When it wouldn't pass emissions this year, I sold the engine to some guy for $850 and bought a 1973 350 with 50,000 on the rebuild. Pulled it out of a truck with the transmission. I bought that truck for $750. I scrapped it for $400. All in all, I have not worked for a penny of the swap. hahaha

yd you build this and what it cost what year 350 and stuff just bought a na rx7 and wanna build a cheap drift car and rotarys blow to easy and my gpa knows everything about chevy v8s so let me know your power and stuff

it's hard to make a 350 fit under the hood, however it can be done. it's impossible to make a 5.0 fit without cutting the hood. other than cutting the hood for some motors, you can use any motor you want as long as it will fit between the strut towers... there's enough room for a big block if that's your thing. go to norotors.com if you have questions about the instal. there are vendors and experts there to help..:-)

i was thinking of doing this but i dont really know to much about american engines
does it matter what year 350 i use?
my rx has a blown engine i already pulled id really like to try this just to have some fun

@clutch23q yes I really wanted the car on the road. After my third rotary I had to do something else. @cerbera89 the motor in this vid is a first gen small block. 272 cam. x pipe duals and very good quality n1 cans..

FOR LESS MONEY too. i gotta ask though. whassup with teh carbon staining on the back right above the exhaust exits?
yamahonkawazuki 2 years ago
probably didn't push the exhaust tips far enough from under the car.
chevyhs 2 years ago
prolly so OR when setting it up maybe it ran rich for a few days or something. hell ive got a gen 2 vert that the 13b sent south FAR south. to overhaul it was far more than the conversion im doing so far. not a v8, BUT a 3.8 6 cyl out of a mid 90's stang. got in the last parts i needed today actually so it goes under the knife to finish very soon. am looking forward to driving it ALOT, engine i bought also came wiht a supercharger as well so ill like it.
yamahonkawazuki 2 years ago
ummm... you can find TII's for around $800... and it'll last longer than a Ford engine... plus all the harnesses and adapters and new tranny... dunno what numbers ur pullin up but trust me... stickin with the stock engine's almost always cheaper... unless you have some old ass car with an engine that nobody else has... and the shit on the back is just karma...
GeRmAnIaNhAcKeR 2 years ago
it's not that I have to have rotary or nothing...
GeRmAnIaNhAcKeR 2 years ago

@drivinggodspeed fuck the purist, v8 or rotary so what, its your car and its your choice of what to do with it, i love FC's and i love the rotary but i wouldnt have on the v8 and say i get bored of the 13b or it fcks up on me ill just drop a V8 in it, whateva it takes to keep my car on the road.

dectrone 3 years ago
have you ever even heard of a TII? that's all the fuckin power you need.. people get those up to 300hp easy... you can even get it over 800hp and it's no more expensive than gettin a piston engine to 800hp..
GeRmAnIaNhAcKeR 2 years ago
yes but as since your ignoring the reliability in the whole long tearm...im saying this i have seen 800 horse v8 last 2 years...i have seen 500rotary tuned very well last one month....i like anything fast but i like fast that last longer
dectrone 2 years ago
why the hell does everyone think rotaries don't last long? they seriously don't die...
GeRmAnIaNhAcKeR 2 years ago
i had a 92 rx that lasted 3 months.........and only had 94xxx on it....and have you ever blown a rotary...they cost more to fix then the cars worth if you can find someone to do it.....sooo after your asshole raping you get your car back
dectrone 2 years ago
what the fuck did you do to it?? it has 94k on it and it blows in the 3 months you had it?? did you drive it off a cliff or somethin? you seriously musta treated the car like shit... and the engines are easy as fuck to redo... or just buy a new engine... they're only $1300 for the TII with tranny and intercooler... and what went wrong after the 3 months anyways? I HIGHLY doubt the engine just simply stopped starting.
GeRmAnIaNhAcKeR 2 years ago
some seal blew, then it over heated and died.......simple fact is the car wasnt that great....if i stil had it i would swap a ls1 ino it right away

drivinggodspeed 3 years ago
fuck em dude. unless you have actually owned BOTH a v8 and rotary RX-7, then you have no idea. speed is speed, and the V8 is way more capable/reliable/efficient/cheap/fun than any rotary engine. the end.
btw, you can check my videos of mine when i used to have it. i soooo want to build another one :/
rugbyguitargod 3 years ago
hey quarvis, i saw that car of yours last night. you don't even have a rotory motor!!! it's not even an rx7. how the hell are you going to race with that piece of shit???

well, it doesn't run an 11.5 now. it has an lt1 now and it's ok. its definately faster than rotaries with alot more power..even a 20b i know, but i'm building a turbo 5.3 so lots of power is coming.:)
drivinggodspeed 3 years ago
ahahahahaha faster dream on
coopersuperfastguy 3 years ago
how do you figure that the v8 is slower ?first, second ,i belive you can modify anything to be fast, including your beloved riding mower.i have both an rx7 with a v8 and one with the rotory and im sorry my v8 kills the rotory !third i could build up my rotory to keep up with the v8 ,but as a friend on mine that has been raceing rotories for a while says you spend tons of money and sometimes they only last a couple of weeks ?not me
ccelectric 3 years ago
w/e why would you want to build up a v8 they cost way more then a rotary to build up I know because I owned a chev pick up with a 350. I love rotary's for the size that the are and the power that they put out! I don't know what you've been smokin man but last time I checked v8's dont last long at the drap strip either, and if your dumb enuff to daily drive your drag car you engine desurves to explode durrrr da durrrrrrr
coopersuperfastguy 3 years ago
once again ,i dont know where you get your info but i have at least 100 passes on my v8 and im still not dont tunning it ,i have about 7500 total in my motor including all acc.carb, intake ,nos, electronics, distributer, ect.and its forge all the way,my friend with the rotory that is constantly reibuilding them, has 4500.00 just in the bottom in not to mention 10000 worth of power adders and electronics,i think it is safe to say the v8 is much cheaper!with just that i could rebuild my whole car.
ccelectric 3 years ago
man have you got some haters!dont worrie about them ,when they come rollin up in there mini vans just laugh your ass off.if that car is running 11.50 its doing fine for a 500 dollar engine .cooper is all worried about the suspention? why ?my v8 only wieghs 200lbs more than ther rotory omg thats soooo awfull lol....
ccelectric 3 years ago
200 pounds? lol that brutal
coopersuperfastguy 3 years ago
mine weighs that same as a turboII. but it drives better than a turboII or one converted with a 20b.
drivinggodspeed 3 years ago
yeah but still isnt the same without a rotary
coopersuperfastguy 3 years ago
why not it has tq. readily availible instead of only when the turbo if fully pressureised?
ccelectric 3 years ago
that's the point!!!
drivinggodspeed 3 years ago
lol looks like it was pushin blue when you fired it up ls1? more like 350 from a junk yard hope for your sake you rebuilt it lol cause id be even more sad if you just threw it in as is.baysnrupert racing?dennis pireno? little feild super chargers????chet herbert? all those guys make real v8's not those pieces of de tuned fuel economicle v8s they have in all the wanna be muscle cars these days. you never answered my last question from my last post about wether or not you beefed up the front sus?
coopersuperfastguy 3 years ago
I'm not going to waffle on about if this is a good idea or not. What I will say is that if my 13B-T can make 300hp with only light tune, all emissions, power steer etc, then it stands to reason that the rotary has a better power per litre ratio than the V8. It is basic mathmatics. As for the comments that you have to rebuild every 1-2 yrs is nonsense, same with the boost comments. If done right which it often isn't, a rotor can last a lot longer than people think. Respect.
blyndrotor 4 years ago
a turbo rotary making any power doesn't last. it just doesn't. i hate to sound like a rotary hater because i'm not, but rotaries DIE UNDER BOOST. and how does a 13bt (that's forced induction folks) making 300 equate to rotaries having a better liter ratio and why is that relative to anything having to do with cars OR to this video? i could see if it made mpg go up...but it doesn't.
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
i wish mazda or somebody would imporve the design enough to change reliability or at least make it more fuel efficent so that they could build a bigger version to get power from, but until then you'll just have to swap it out!!!
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
Because the capacity of the 13b is so much smaller it make's more power per litre. If you need to ask what that has to do with cars you shouldnt be swinging spanner's. It's not all about how big your engine is but but how you make the power. A 13B is classed as a 1.3 litre, If I'm making 300 do the math.
It also has a lot to do with physic's. Reciprocating mass vs rotating, less energy wasted making pistons change direction.
As for not lasting, I guess I got that magical one that lasted fine
blyndrotor 4 years ago
this just keeps getting harder for you guys. NO, it doesn't matter how you make the power. how you transfer energy doesn't move anything. the amount of energy transformed is what moves you and how much. not one single person driving should care how. they should however care about: how much power (rotary=less overall), cost(rotary=poor mpg, high maintenance),reliability(rotary=very poor overall), ability(rotary=higher parts, higher labor, less abundance).
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
also, it's not a 1.3. if you don't realize that then you don't need to be post here. there is a reason why rotaries consume more gas but than other motors with the same power, it is because they are actually cobusting more than you think. and why turbos suited for larger motors work well on rotaries. it is because rotaries take in that much air. they can't take in the air with magic. laws of physics don't change just for the rotary. with out a turbo it breaths just like a poor v6.
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
the "magic" is actually how you calculate cumbustion, and since the rotaries combustion cycle is different it really wouldn't be fair to use the same equation now would it??? it's more than just common sense.
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
If you contact me I can show you that a 13B can make more than 350 Hp with no forced induction and still be reliable. offcourse is not going to last 100,000 miles but if you can get that amount of HP per liter on any V8 it will only last about a 1/4 of the life of the rotary with this HP numbers. Anything under turbocharging is promp to brake down at any time is just a fact and this goes to all engines not just rotaries.
sa22see 3 years ago
i don't care about what liter the motor is. it doesn't weigh enough less and it gets less MPG. its not reliable, and it cost more to fix. which part of this is hard to understand for you guys? i like to drive cars...not spend all my money feeding and fixing them....and i like to win a race every once in while as well!!
imrickjames292929 3 years ago
well than I guess Mazda has won more Grand Am races than any other manufactures with this unreliable motor that you are talking about.mmmm .... I guess you must know a lot about rotaries and the history begin them.
sa22see 3 years ago
thats sweet, what kind of gas milage do you get, im assuming not too bad with the weight of the car. where did you get the motor mounts, what special stuff did you have to fab to get it all going? i might do this swap with a carb'd small block
space9888 4 years ago
......fifth, ...bottom line here is that this car ran 11.5 as it sits (with the bad powervalve and no timing light). the motor cost $500. not my first chioce, but it did fine until i realized that it wouldn't do fine. you can't make another rx7 as fast for the money nor on pump gas. while especially driving for very long without it blowing up...like a 13b.
go fark yourself kiddo!!
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
fourth...powervalve blew early on ~genious~ and i didn't want to change it untill some of the more important bugs were worked out. people with no permission kept screwing with stuff is why the wires were crossed in the first place.
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
rotaries die under boost (fact). a three rotor(which by the way ruins the handling because it sits so far forward)makes only about 320 without turbos, and an eccentric shaft in the 4 cost nearly 20k. so i don't want to hear about how great the rotards think the rotary is.....third, you cannot tune this motor better than me or any of the people that have worked on it nor could you put such a well built car together with the budget that i've had.
.....fourth,

671blown289 4 years ago
thanks for the kind words...i guess!! this is kind of an old video and it's got an lt1 now. 5.3 turbo in the works...and you don't really have to shoehorn this motor. in an rx7 the sbmotors fit better than any car that they came stock in (in the last 15 or 20 yrs). plenty of room, lighter weight, stiffer chassis, better suspension. they called the fc the corvette killer and it still holds true for pretty much any vette but the c6 zo6...but not for FD's.
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago

coopersuperfastguy 3 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
first, the rotary is not much lighter than a sb. not enough in fact to have to change the suspension. less even in fact than a 20b(less power)because that motor sits so far forward. and yes, the motor in this vid did in fact cost $500. not the motor in the car now, but it was good enough at the time to get the car converted intially. second, spelling and grammer are not your friends. third, you could only hope to have girlfriends like mine. from the look of your vid they must be wearing flannel.

mkelly1983 4 years ago
go back and read my 1st sentence, "instant power for little money." you were saying the v8 makes the 7's better, and i disagree. and when you think about it, its really not all that cheap, i'll bet once you pull a v8 out of the junk yard and have it rebuilt you'll probably have close to 3 grand invested. when you can buy a full blooded raceing 13b from mazdatrix already ported w/ emissions removed for under 2k....
rotaryoutlaw 4 years ago
right....and 2k more next year...and the next..and the next and that's if you can make a powerful 13b last more than a year. actually my motor cost 500 for the one you see. 430hp. it has an lt1 now and that was 900 for everything with 60k miles..sure it's not as powerfull...but it should still run 12.2's....try making a rotary do that for $900. hell, better yet. try making it do that on pump gas with the a/c and power steering..oh wait..YOU CAN'T!!!
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
Racing 13B=NO torque. V8=instantaneous power+balance(LS1 swap). LS1 engine pullout: $3200 w/tranny. I dont know where you are looking on mazdatrix, but i didnt find ANY rotary engine on there that was worth a damn for less than $4800. chalk another one up for the V8's please.
xeones21 4 years ago
the only advantage i see in this is instant power for little money. i disagree that it improves the RX-7 when i know what rotaries are capable of...try a custom built 26b n/a w/aluminum houseings and rotors pushing well over 1,000 horses...thats impresive power not to mention a next to impossible to beat power to weight ratio...
rotaryoutlaw 4 years ago
generally i would just delete this kind of thing...but its so retarded that i just have to reply. first, what does a 26b have to do with everyone here.....on the planet earth? the shaft alone cost 20k... why don't you just say something else stupid like "why don't you put a rocket on it instead of one of those stupid gasoline engines?"
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
fuck that sounds nice =P
soft spot for V8's but i still love the rotors =]

Rotary engines are insanely gay with their wabbling triangle, they have nothing on a chevy v8. If 100hp per liter is 100% efficiency, what about the 5.7 liter engines with like 800hp are they beyond perfect like some shit NASA would use in a spaceship?
balla740 4 years ago
this isn't a rotor bashing site...but they are not as good overall of a motor....and they are 2.6 liters. you guys that are too retarded to post automatically get deleted...faux..whateverthefuck can suck a nut.
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
ill do u one better, ill give you a 2.6L engine with half the cylinders; a bored&stroked SRT-4 engine. even that engine would shit all over any Rotary engine.
rugbyguitargod 4 years ago
rotary engines are used in aircraft... think about it
grkmeat 4 years ago
I think the word you're looking for is "radial", not rotary. OH, and most propellor driven aircraft are powered by a flat engine (with the exception being turboprop aircrafts)
nogitsune9 4 years ago
the total volume between the rotor and the rotor housing is 2.6L. the actual volume of air/fuel that is COMBUSTED is 1.3L; but im sure that you already knew that. bottom line is this; being a previous owner of both rotary equipped and V8-equipped RX-7's, V8 FTMFW. there isnt a rotary, no matter how modded, that can hang with an equally modded V8. the end.
rugbyguitargod 4 years ago
first off, there are fuckin motorcycles (R1 in specific) that are smaller in displacement, have more horsepower and have WAY more potential than a 1.3L rotard engine. second, it is physically impossible for any combustion engine to attain 100% efficiency. if you want to argue, i will write you an email explaining the fundamentals of combustion engine mechanics & physics. third, saying that a rotary engine is a 1.3L is like saying that an LS1 is actually a .7L .
rugbyguitargod 4 years ago
first, rotaries are 2.6...saying that you can get more than 100% effiency just proves how stupid you are. wake up!!! rotaries suck... get over it and move out of the parents house!!!!
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
last post i swear....regaurdless, every version of the rx7 is improved with a v8 in every way. more power potential for less money, more reliably controlls that power, better milage, and with an aluminum block.....BETTER WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION...
enough said.
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
A small block w/steel heads weighs a little more up front. it's not bad though and the car still drives great. lt1, a little better. my friend w/ an lt1 10ae actually said his car was rear weight bias (go figure). an aluminum LS motor in an rx7 weighs the same as turbo versions with a BETTER weight distribution....did you hear what i said...BETTER WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION..
next post...
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
has everyone smoked crack today before logging in? i doubt either of you cracksmokers have had both a rotary and v8 rx7....most of you probably haven't even owned both in different cars. furthermore, i don't see anyone here quailified to argue either way, but let me break it down for you....a v8 rx7 is better. READ ON TO MY NEXT POST!!
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
before i get started.....inline 6's are perfectly balance piston engines....v8's are only one coupling away from being perfectly balanced. the reason rotories do so well is because they reside inside the rx7...give the car a little credit. it wins even with an inferior motor.
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
For those of you who don't have a rotory engine, or have never had one should shut the hell up and go play with your pistons. rotor is deffently more powerful than pistons. if you think its nothing more than a spinning triangle then you should read up on it. the rotory can be made into one of the best engine's smoke v-8s bro smoke v-8s
mrpeepswoot07 4 years ago
People should keep comments to themselves. Rotaries are cool, but I'd rather have pistons, valves and a cam rather than just some pretty unreliable pieces of iron with seals spinning really fast.
Paulyw86 4 years ago
yeah, i don't want to give you guys the impression that i hate rotaries. i love n/a 3rotors actually, but i'm not a fan of "purist" who don't know what they are talking about. even the ones who sound like they know don't really know if they think that the rotary is a better motor. it's not. it's just a cool motor with the best japanese chassy to date wrapped around it. nothing more...
drivinggodspeed 4 years ago
yea i like rotaries too, and purists are pretty gay. i've seen some different swaps on here like a 2JZ swapped in a S2000, some people were like that's gay. Even though everyone knows the Supra motors are pretty pissed off.
Paulyw86 4 years ago
Yea but see the rotary engine is way better than your pistons. SOrry its true. And in a few yrs from now your pistons will be no good cuz theres a new rotary engine thats comming out. More fule efficient less less less vibration. and it dosnt make so much noise.
fc3sghost 4 years ago
No one really builds the Rotary. There's a good reason. Alot of people swap in 2JZ's or some kind of small block V8. The day the rotary is better than pistons is the day Michael Jackson will become black again. No rotary will ever touch let's say the LS7, in reliability, efficiency, and power.
Paulyw86 4 years ago
HAha well we'll see in about 5 more years. Oh and the reason ppl over here in the states dont touch rotary gins that much is because most americans dont understand how they work. Think about what makes more power a piston that goes up and down which vibrates the engine so much or a rotor that keeps spining and evens every thing out. I mean a 13B Rew is known as the V-8 killer. a 20B kills the V12. and the 20B Rew matches the V16
