@MuraKafka There are two parts here. The first part - the one with lyrics - comes from opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti ("Il dolce suono" - "oh sweet sound" which is the first part of the "mad scene"). The second, more contemporary part with the "fireworks" is called the "Diva Dance" and was written specifically for this movie.
I like to sing opera, but the hip opera part where she sings super high like 10 intervals super fast is not humanely possible!!! Thanks to the studio...
@squigglyfun27 Opera is very difficult and requires both a lot of talent and years of training, but I do hope you'll succeed. This is how the first part of this - the one that comes from an opera - looks like when it is performed in actual opera: /watch?v=Q3kzqzXHp2A The second hip part here is written for the movie. This requires a type of voice called "coloratura soprano" i.e. a soprano voice that has agility i.e. ability to hit many quick notes. Like here: /watch?v=DvuKxL4LOqc
@BadBoy0038 Usually when people think of opera, its Wagner - LONG operas, hats with horns etc. Mozart opera is a lot of fun. So far loved Don Giovanni, one of these days I'm dying to see the Magic Flute- there's a song in that one that's like an Olympic event!
@BadBoy0038 I think when people say "I don't like opera but I like this performance" it often means that they heard some opera or some singer they didn't like and decided they don't like opera. But opera is like any genre: you may find operas you don't like, you may find operas you like, you may find operas in which you like some parts. Just like opera singers - some people may call a singer "best ever" and someone else may hate this same singer. 1st 3 minutes here is from an opera.
@doroula1411 Not sure. They might not like the second part, but I don't know. The first part comes from opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti - first 3 minutes of a 20-minute scene, so maybe someone doesn't like how it's used here - while the last part is added specificallly for the movie. But who knows, tastes vary, every video has likes and dislikes.
@jewelmarkess Thank you for the information, I really appreciate them! I do not listent to this kind of music and I heard this kind because of the movie and I was shocked and appauled from the beauty of this song!! I agree with you though that tastes vary. I will search the full song!! Thank you again!!! :)
@doroula1411 No problem. There are many beautiful interpretations, but most are in parts. These is a complete scene with English subtitles from the Met: /watch?v=Q3kzqzXHp2A But there are different singers and different stagings (this one updates action a bit).
my mums just asked a really good question: how did the artifacts get in her abdomen not talking movie prop wise i mean story plot it was never really explained
@89deadlock The sort of big buddhas saving the earth gave it to her because they trusted her more than the humans. And her body apparently can really "get" them, not human bodies. That's why.
@jcz1996 Actually, it is sung by human entirely. It was mentioned many times in movie reviews, by producers, etc. that Inva Mula did sing it. For people who aren't familiar with what opera singers can do with their voices it sounds impossible, but listen to some coloratura arias like Queen of the Night aria from the Magic Flute or the Doll Song from Lakme and you'll here a lot of very difficult quick notes, leaps and runs.
@jewelmarkess Ok, but listen to some moments, for example around 4.15 there is very fast run, where you can clearly hear the change of the voice color, which is somehow unnatural, at least for me. Of course, I may be wrong cause I'm not really into opera singing
@jcz1996 There is a change - maybe a few notes added there. There is a video here of a girl who isn't even an opera singer (for that reason she omits the first part, she finds it more difficult) who sings this last part (search Laura sings Diva Dance), but I don't remember if there notes are there. Some vocal acrobatics in real opera arias performed live: /watch?v=DvuKxL4LOqc - especially starting at 2:49. Also here: /watch?v=JkCVXXRRgEY
@keepinlow in case you're new to opera, Lucia di Lamermoor was written by Donizetti in 1835. The fast part from 3:43 has been written for this movie - I love it too. You can check the original opera as interpreted live in 1958 by Leyla Gencer, the end to the " mad scene" as of "ardon gl'incensi"
listen to the vocalizing from 3:18 onwards, it is the most common version, but there are other variations too.
The woman who is dressed up as the Blue Alien is called: Maïwenn Le Besco. Shes just a French actress she is not the singer. The singer is a woman called: Inva Mulla (Tchako). Except the is a part that she doesnt sing and it is actually a piece of machinary that is making the noise lol But still sounds f**king awesome. And i LOVE the film!
