There's a difference between Arial and Helvetica?
No seriously ... as a graphic designer with over 15 years experience. I hate Helvetica. Arial .... forget it. I absolutely refuse to use Arial. Helvetica Bold .... maybe. These days, all caps ... with some ink splats and vector floral shapes .... you've got a brand.

@afwoods Helvetica is a little friendlier and fatter, but i have to see them side by side to know the difference. Except with the R... Ariel R is very ugly. I agree that they are over used on anything these days that wants to look modern and clever. White sheet, pink writing, and you can't tell the difference for an Ad for the Tate and an ad for an art gallery someone is running out of the boot of their car.

Arial is just a cheap copy of Helvetica embraced by Microsoft. that's what made it so famous. Helvetica is the original clean typeface.
