Altough Vitiligo is a real disease and does depigment the skin, there is also a topical medication prescribed to those who suffer from vitiligo which depigments the remaining color from the skin in order to achieve a uniform white skin tone. It is called Monobenzone. And I believe Michael abused the use of Monobenzone in his quest to appear more caucasian.
