Its sad that working at the largest single site jail in the nation, the officers dont get oc spray. You have to be a politicly promoted Sgt to get this tool. I have been sprayed at least 10 times average a month by my non_aiming sgt's and am immune to this junk. Thank you sheriff Tom Dart, u suck!
Is there anything I can do to prepare myself for the pepper spray?? Lol I know it sounds weird, but im hoping to become a corrections officer.. And Im trying to prepare myself Now before I take my two courses in college.
Being a co. has fucked my mind up . I hear all the time how if u respect the inmates they will respect you , BULLSHIT . The inmates don't respect shit . They talk shit and most isf inmates don't back it up .
this is just mentally sick and they take it to be normal in the US. In civilized Europe this would be unthinkable. Our guard prisons hold degrees. Here the kind of scumbag you recruit are just retarded brutals.
Shittttt, this has nothing on CS Gas, lets see these people state their full name, rank, social security number, and unit, with a gas mask in a chamber billowing with CS. I was maced as a corrections officer, and it had nothing on it.

@USMC2074 no almost x inmate. a crooked drugdealind sheriff that did 25 years on prision for distrubition of 8000lb of pot and the brain dead judge tried to set me up because i was speaking out about ther drugs and breaking into homes of people that were against them. tprision is full of innosent set up people by the corrupt system.
MANSHOTS. the comment i just posted isnt directed to you personally. No harm intended. their are just alot of americans who think that, even some canadians. yah it figures americans would think this. And no they are lock down, and our prisons and prevention methods are more succesfull then the states. we have max, med, min, and super max. Minimum isnt lock down, those are low at risk. And im proud to say people think there like rent a condos. lol. it just means we actually keep them clean, we dont lock them up, throw away the key and than forget about tham. Thats why only 1% of offenders re commit the same crime when realease. Thats succes.
maybe correctional officers and jails should just stop working and shut down if they wont be respected. Than how will you feel when the murding and raping goes through the roof. than we can let the police officers deal with it.
If they wanted to they could redesign these facilities to take the corrections officers safety and security into account, but I have watched enough of these videos and Lockup on MSNBC, and I believe that they like to live dangerously, kid of like if you put a hungry bobcat and a hungry lion in the same cage, and a small piece of steak, and you tease them, and they remember the manipulation, and one day when the cage is open you get attacked.
You sound like you are still relatively young. Perhaps you should sit down and do the math. To remain with your employer through the length of an average career would mean spending more than a third of your life behind bars. This is a much longer sentence than many of the inmates you'll guard! Of course it's which side of the bars you're on but according to what you've written here, that's not much! Maybe this could be something you've done while learning to do something else.
not necessarily chronologically but emotionally, nevertheless you are referring to something called time and space, where if a prisoner has been there for twenty years he is of course going to be more powerful than a corrections officer who's there two years, that's why you always have to respect the bubbas and the bubbettes of these facilities.
people should be thanking correctional officers in any country. In many ways its more dangerous and active than being a police officer ( depending security level and where your at.) Without them look at some of the peole who would be shakeing hands with are youth and roaming our streets a free man without notice. There keeping the general public safe, just like a police officer.
I understand what you are saying, but having experienced both sides, I believe that police are in a more dangerous setting. Afterall, the Corrections Officers KNOW who the bad guy is, police on the otherhand, sometimes dont know until it is too late. They are in much more dangerous territory than anyone.
You're right and they are much more inventive when it comes to creating them. Trust me, I have binders FULL of homemade (prison-made) shanks, most of which would blow minds of those not in that line of work. However, the police never know who they are encountering on the streets--bad guy/good guy, whereas in prison......probably bad guy who might have a weapon (depending on custody level, higher levels=more likely)
With eighteen months in a community college, you could retrain for something. I think there are Associates degrees in Criminal Justice. If you couldn't find work as a Police Officer, certainly there are many possessions in private security. Don't tell any would be employer what you've been doing. Tell them you've been unemployed or you've been in school. After all, do you want to spend the rest of your working life behind bars?
It depends on what jurisdiction the police are patroling. If they're patroling the upper middle class suburbs it's like patrolling a day camp or a soccer field. If they're patrolling the ritzy neighborhoods of bedford styvesant in New York or the inner city projects of Chicago, downtown Miami then it's a little bit dangerous.
so is working in a stockroom at the mall, and you don't get $28 per hour to do that bro. And how do they keep the general public safe, they work inside the facility, the general public is outside the facility.
Really? That's your question?? Well, perhaps since they KEEP the known criminals INSIDE the facility, they somehow keep the public safe. Afterall, if they failed at their jobs, you would have reason to be quite worried!
No, this is not skilled labor except for the architects who design the facilities. and out of curiousity I'd be interested to find out who these architects are, because the stress level causes them to fight like animals in a cage.
Among the dogs are rats that nark on the dogs to avoid being devoured by the snakes and thus finally arouse a panicked survival instinct by the dogs to bark at, bite and crush the rats. Then when released by the snakes from out of the jungle, the dogs look at the cats and wonder why they did this to them, since they would bite and crush the rats without needing provocation from the snakes who also bite and crush the rats when they are hungry.
(1) the criminal justice system is similar to the animal kingdom. It's a battle between the cats, the dogs, the snakes, and the rats. The dogs try to pretend they're better than the cats because they see them as weaker animals. However cats are brighter, more independent and have a survival instinct.
So the dogs wind up in prison. There they are prosecuted, processed and guarded by the snakes who instinctively understand survival and responsibility unlike dogs.
you must be from the states. Here in canada im in college for 2 years to be a correctional officer with daily training. We learn counselling, tactics, security, have to get our gun lisence, learn lots of law with a test every week. Here in canada if your not fit, Dont get and average of 70% or higher in college, and if you dont get at least 85 % in a 3 month correctional college after you have already completed academic college, than you wont even be looked at. starting wage, 28/hour.
In Canada, do they also test your ability for disarming combatants, handcuffing and skin search techniques before and after due process and full national and provincial common law?
Your comments to likepaintball really scream that you are missing the original point, seeing how he/she addressed your original comment/question. Do they also teach syntax, decyphering codes and international terrorism profiling? Probably not, but in Corrections, I think they are ahead of the game when it comes to top-notch training of their Officers.
In your country, I heard that the prisons are not even locked down facilities. They are like rent a' condos. In the states they are tougher. However in beautiful countries like Singapore, Thailand, Bangladesh, and Malaysia, they are hell holes.
Prison Guards are people who voluntarily get up an go into prison each day! Look at the assortment of new recruits in this vid. A large number are single moms, men that couldn't meet the height requirement for the Police department, the fat, high school dropouts. They're made up largely of the type of people they guard. In many instances private security pays a better wage. Unlike police officers, they can't kill, they can only beat inmates. Perhaps that is enough.
Wow.....lemme guess.....for you to degrade and berate another profession with such disregard, you must what, be a brain surgeon, right? I mean, what makes your (unknown) profession so much better than the profession of another? Bottom line, its an honest living and these are hard working people. You couldnt BEGIN to stomach the crap they see on a daily basis.
unless its happening to them, I'm sure they eventually get over the shock of seeing they don't actually know it, being that these people personally. It's called legal responsibility.
You would be guessing. Why is the truth degradation? These are some of the few low skill jobs left in country. There isn't that many doctoral candidates going into corrections. Inmates acquire few applicable skills in prison, neither do correction officers. Deciphering the mysteries message on the toilet paper has few applications in the outside world. Its the disenfranchised guarding the disenfranchised. You can find the marijuana stash, or the popsicle stick honed to a point. Great!
Mr. RavensHalo Sir, The strength and integrity of the prison system revolves around two things, the architectural design and curiousity of the companies that build them and The ethics and political idealogy of the board that oversees probation, parol, incarceration, and onsite and offsite cheap manual labor. If this partnership is working properly then a profession within this facility is like scooping ice cream in an ice cream parlor.
yeah I bet 75 percent of our prisons are full of petty pot dealers. If pot were legal The crime element would go away, At worst you would have people beeing more laid back, but then again all those cops and prison guards would be out of jobs and prisons would close and the whole police state conversion of america wouldnt happen, and the elites wouldnt get all there tax payer money, hey you know what prison guards like to do, make you bend over and spread your cheeks to check you/jack off later.
Know your statistics before you start ranting about crap you know nothing about. You're right on one hand, most crimes are a result of drugs. Marijuana not being one of them, mostly meth. Most crimes are violent against others, homicide, sexual assault, assault, home invasions (when the occupants are there), etc. Your little pot heads are at the bottom of the law enforcement priority list, sorry.
(1) when potheads, crackheads, methheads and psychological cases bring the attention of the medical system and the legal system together, both systems join forces somewhat on legal grounds, somewhat less on moral grounds, and mostly on profiteering grounds in an attempt to crush the insurgents. Caught in this war are the young pot headed POW's that only have moral grounds to go on as their defense.
However, if the prosecution notices multiple felonious or high misdemeanor offenses then they become creative when drawing up formal charges to be presented before the grand jury, in an attempt to secure an indictment, such as finding multiple counts within the counts that the accused defendant should be charged with.
End prohibition, and stop making criminals out of potheads! No pothead should have to go to prison for possessing a harmless plant. Every prisoner that goes into prison, comes out an even harder criminal.
Harmless? How about the growers who destroy the environment to grow? How about the dealers who kill, rape, extort, and murder? Doesn't sound very harmless to me.
@xcannabiscom WORHTLESS THUG!!!!! go get locked up and stay away from our children and our neighborhoods. people who grow pod are destroying the enviroment also drug dealers are dangerous to the public and have no respect for authority and if he/she dosent get there money the entire public is going to pay. HOW DARE YOU DEFEND PEOPLE WHO ARE DANGEROUS TO OUR KIDS AND OUR EDLERY AND THE PUBLIC.
This is no different. Prohibition CREATES criminals. People are in the black market based on prohibition.
End prohibition, you end the black market, and you stop sending pot heads to prison for victimless crimes, where they come out as hardened criminals. You need to get educated. Pick up a history book.
@xcannabiscom i figure you would say somthing like that. every time someone tells it like it is the person always revert back to history or make up some kind of excuse. you will do or say anything for your silly drugs. keep lying on the couch and doing your drugs
Not all cops are bullies,if you think that your gullable,or a cops relative, cops are'nt racist.Thats your imagination+You probably think Israel bombs the Gaza strip or Lebanon from time to time,So what ?if they do,muslims are terorists,if you care 4 them then your a terrorist.Your probly misinformed,or maybe your a pinko libral.Evry1 knows all crims deserve 2 be in prison, let em wrot I say.The mystry is,How did Barack Obama get Electd Prez?Pinkos are taking over America!Lets torture more prisner
"but its ok for inmates to shank? people for no reason!"
Did I say that, you stupid fuck? There are hundreds of videos of cops pepper spraying and tasing people for no other reason than they are pissed off. Because it doesn't kill (usually), or leave any incriminating bruises, these non-lethal forms of inducing pain are a godsend to sadistic people who got into the service for the wrong reasons.
you are a complete idiot who has no clue what your talking about. theres a little thing called the 'use of force' model designed to give an officer an upper hand to prevent death or serious bodily harm.
sure, there is police brutality, but its rare and most people are quick to call police brutality when its not.
No, it's not. I was a cop for 14 years. Cops who get off on roughing people up are far too common, and the force protects it's own. You're a complete fucking idiot, with no clue what you're talking about.
If you was a cop for 14 years and speaking to that guy about police brutaility your not making a mature conversation of the way your insulting him and swearing at him its pretty hard to belive you was a cop of the way you commented on that guy
The best traiining is at Bucks County Correctional. Doylestown, PA> You're basically a mall security officer and they let the inmates run the place. White shirts are so afraid of inmates you get in trouble as an officer for writing them up. Guberdick, ur a dumbass. Deputy Warden Mitchel is a sorry ass ape and needs to go away and Giagrante needs to stop the whole italian Mafia wannabe thing..its all GAY!
what a bunch of wimps man i got hit with a fogger about 6 in from my face during my academy.and then we had to walk for about 10 min before getting water to rinse it out
"Guard" must go.(correctional officers is the new term to be used)
Guard? As corrections professionals, we rely on journalists to credibly and accurately inform the public about our field. Unfortunately, we are often disappointed and frustrated by inaccurate depictions of corrections by the news media. A disturbing example is the continued use of the word "guard" to refer to custodial or security personnel.
I like it how they say life becuase here in england, say if i got locked up for murder, life is 25 years, but then it gets reduced rapidly as you are there and go as low as 6 years.
This is a bunch of CRAP!!!!. When I was at the Sheriffs academy we got sprayed directly in the face. Yes OC clouds suck...but a direct hit is much worse.
I agree, getting hit in the face with oc sucks!!! I had that training when I was in the Marine Corps. After I got sprayed I had to wrestle two guys, then run an obstacle course and fire my 9mm. I only hit 2 out of 5 targets haha
i've gone through a gas chamber full of CS gas (as like every american solider has) and i didn't even whine like these people. Been sprayed before in the face with pepper-spray - both only hurt for like 15 minutes and than your fine. This people are fucking weak.
killerinakage: try being locked in a chowhall with 80 inmates and someone shooting a 37mm scat round of CS in there with you and a rubber ball cs grenade at the same time.
The gas chamber stuff is weak. Get in there and fight people in a real life or death situation with CS gas everywhere then you can talk =D
so you're saying that being sprayed with pepper spray is kind of like being punched in a face for cussing someone out because you braved the gas chamber full of CS gas as a test pilot during training.
plicketypow..... lol thats funny say that cause im not to sure what ya know bout the state of ohio but the state prison system had to teach sheriffs how to hand cuff people the right way lol sorry but look into cert teams or srt teams in corrections fields... o and ask 90% of the force about a real state pen. they probably would never step foot into 1 lol
when i was training in my police academy, we had to get sprayed with the stream straight in the eyes, and had to visually track an attacker with our weapon, and then negotiate a course of defensive tactics including: open hand defensive strikes on a bag, a thirty yard run to the next obstacle, baton strikes on a bag, thirty yard run to the next, and finally we had to take down an attacker and cuff them, then we got some relief. What a bunch of Poofs.
dude...why stop there? put it on national TV! every week theres a show called ''the mentally ill'' or something like that.and there you have it! dropping crime rates!!
I remember when I was like, 5 i got my hands on my mums pepper spray and since I say some dude spray somebody else with it, I thought, 'why not?' then I sprayed it into my open left eye.
a year ago i worked at mcdonalds and someone sprayed pepper spray throught the window at a guy working there he got lit up but he was back that night, ok
just the little blast made the whole kitchen hard to breath and they put me were he was so my eyes were hella watery about 45 a min after he got hit
I hope this isn't it for them cause the criminals these days are pretty hardcore. They need to get sprayed in the face and then some defensive tactics training.
What a joke. I got blasted straight in the face, had to fight off a "fake" fighter, radio for help, then pick the guy out of a crowd of people....what a JOKE of a training mechanism. How many times in the jail are these guys gonna walk into a small room and have to write their name under a farm animal? I haven't done it it..train for the real thing
ya they pepper spray them to show that isis scerios, and correction officer dont have guns unless their gunners on shoot towers. they do hold guns to police recruts heads out of noweare to show the feeling of the gun and its power
damn, at the police academy my bro went to the only time they were around real guns was when they had to go to the range, other times they carried big red plastic guns, like in class and around the academy

If pot were legal The crime element would go away, At worst you would have people beeing more laid back, but then again all those cops and prison guards would be out of jobs and prisons would close and the whole police state conversion of america wouldnt happen, and the elites wouldnt get all there tax payer money, hey you know what prison guards like to do, make you bend over and spread your cheeks to check you/jack off later.
serpentinear86 2 years ago
Know your statistics before you start ranting about crap you know nothing about. You're right on one hand, most crimes are a result of drugs. Marijuana not being one of them, mostly meth. Most crimes are violent against others, homicide, sexual assault, assault, home invasions (when the occupants are there), etc. Your little pot heads are at the bottom of the law enforcement priority list, sorry.
RavensHalo 2 years ago
(1) when potheads, crackheads, methheads and psychological cases bring the attention of the medical system and the legal system together, both systems join forces somewhat on legal grounds, somewhat less on moral grounds, and mostly on profiteering grounds in an attempt to crush the insurgents. Caught in this war are the young pot headed POW's that only have moral grounds to go on as their defense.
MANSHOTS 2 years ago
(2)
However, if the prosecution notices multiple felonious or high misdemeanor offenses then they become creative when drawing up formal charges to be presented before the grand jury, in an attempt to secure an indictment, such as finding multiple counts within the counts that the accused defendant should be charged with.

End prohibition, and stop making criminals out of potheads! No pothead should have to go to prison for possessing a harmless plant. Every prisoner that goes into prison, comes out an even harder criminal.

@medicalterrylove2 Remember prohibition? Why do you think we ended it?
This is no different. Prohibition CREATES criminals. People are in the black market based on prohibition.
End prohibition, you end the black market, and you stop sending pot heads to prison for victimless crimes, where they come out as hardened criminals. You need to get educated. Pick up a history book.
xcannabiscom 8 months ago
@xcannabiscom i figure you would say somthing like that. every time someone tells it like it is the person always revert back to history or make up some kind of excuse. you will do or say anything for your silly drugs. keep lying on the couch and doing your drugs

ReductioAdAbsurdum 2 years ago
you are a complete idiot who has no clue what your talking about. theres a little thing called the 'use of force' model designed to give an officer an upper hand to prevent death or serious bodily harm.
sure, there is police brutality, but its rare and most people are quick to call police brutality when its not.
matthewperry1212 2 years ago
"there is police brutality, but its rare"
No, it's not. I was a cop for 14 years. Cops who get off on roughing people up are far too common, and the force protects it's own. You're a complete fucking idiot, with no clue what you're talking about.

If you was a cop for 14 years and speaking to that guy about police brutaility your not making a mature conversation of the way your insulting him and swearing at him its pretty hard to belive you was a cop of the way you commented on that guy

I agree, getting hit in the face with oc sucks!!! I had that training when I was in the Marine Corps. After I got sprayed I had to wrestle two guys, then run an obstacle course and fire my 9mm. I only hit 2 out of 5 targets haha

Yes, with a direct hit your face feels like it's burning hours later. Even after constant flushing with water.

i've gone through a gas chamber full of CS gas (as like every american solider has) and i didn't even whine like these people. Been sprayed before in the face with pepper-spray - both only hurt for like 15 minutes and than your fine. This people are fucking weak.
killerinakage 2 years ago

alonelychild 2 years ago
killerinakage: try being locked in a chowhall with 80 inmates and someone shooting a 37mm scat round of CS in there with you and a rubber ball cs grenade at the same time.
The gas chamber stuff is weak. Get in there and fight people in a real life or death situation with CS gas everywhere then you can talk =D
kaastle 2 years ago
so you're saying that being sprayed with pepper spray is kind of like being punched in a face for cussing someone out because you braved the gas chamber full of CS gas as a test pilot during training.

when i was training in my police academy, we had to get sprayed with the stream straight in the eyes, and had to visually track an attacker with our weapon, and then negotiate a course of defensive tactics including: open hand defensive strikes on a bag, a thirty yard run to the next obstacle, baton strikes on a bag, thirty yard run to the next, and finally we had to take down an attacker and cuff them, then we got some relief. What a bunch of Poofs.
