I've also lately realized that the world will figure out for itself what to do politically. And I made a decision to be less political and, if I have something political to say, to say it through art. Some are called to engage in this monumental endeavor of changing the system. This is one approach. Another is to forget about changing the system and instead change ourselves. Awakening has a domino effect; it touches our sphere of influence. People surrounding us slowly begin to awaken. Focus on this and eventually we transform the system from the inside out. This path slowly erodes the Matrix and creates inner-peace despite the system.
I agree with this too. this is the balance. we are all "called" to do something... anything! and we all do our own thing. we just have to make sure we do the best that we can when we do make our choice.
i really like your explorations, steve, and many of the things you say parallel my experience, such as the need to wean ourselves off of approval, and what seems to be the necessary period of solitude. and i really liked at the end where you talk about being able to dip into the matrix without being affected by it.
however, even though i am all about looking within, i take serious issue with the 'look within' school of thought because:
1. would you have counseled 19th century slaves or the jews in auschwitz to "look within"? aren't those extreme forms of the matrix?

i am not trying to escape the matrix. just trying to do the best out of the situation. why do we need to escape the matrix after all? in the matrix we have all the things that we would have ouside the matrix. plus, you cannot really say that you are "free" after you pull the plug out of your head. am i free then or is it just another level of the matrix? we will never see the truth, cause the structure of our brains was formed by observing the inner side of the box we live in.

but i don't believe it's because i have a better relationship with my internal universe...i was just lucky and privilleged - so it's interesting that you bring randomness into it.

now the next step is to realize that it is not a simple click of a light switch to unplug, we are hard wired to the matrix by many, many cables. One area might be awake, but in other ways you might still be connected.

In the summer I grow my own food and something occurred to me; people are always saying how Money doesnt grow on trees but the thing is the food in which they generate the money for initially does grow on trees! Also the word Money Starts with the letter M which is the middle letter in the alphabet the unlucky 13th letter I think this is appropriate since money is the middleman in our lives.

Some are called to engage in this monumental endeavor of changing the system. This is one approach. Another is to forget about changing the system and instead change ourselves. Awakening has a domino effect; it touches our sphere of influence. People surrounding us slowly begin to awaken. Focus on this and eventually we transform the system from the inside out. This path slowly erodes the Matrix and creates inner-peace despite the system.

2. isn't telling the truth about the system being a warrior, not a victim? isn't accepting the system as "the way it is," without question, being a victim?
3. we will lose many more species if we don't do everything we can to dismantle this system. we owe it to them and to future generations. new-age "going within" is just what the powers that be want us to do.

there is the suffering that is the part of the natural cycles of life and death--and it could be argued that it is not suffering, just experience--and then there is the very real suffering that can only come about in industrial civilization, of which the death camps are an excellent example
frankl *survived* by looking within, but isn't life about more than survival? and wouldn't he have done something about ending the system he was in if he could have?

Thank you for your articulate responses. I greatly appreciate the dialogue. Of course Frankl would have ended the system if he could. Can you end the system? Please tell me the specific methods in which you propose to do so. Please don't misinterpret my responses for a do nothing approach. I support educating people, living simply, eating foods which do not increase suffering, evolving spiritually, & helping others unplug from the matrix.

2. Yes, warriors expose the system. My videos try to make the invisible visible. However be wise in how you pursue this endeavor. Many blame the system for their suffering & remain victims. Many waste their precious life energy fighting the system. You reap more fruit by creating the life you want without needing to change external forces. The system has been and will always be corrupt. Why not use your resources for self transformation?

the system we speak of has only been around for less than 1% of human existence. for 99.9% of human existence, human beings lived in harmony with the earth. it is not 'has been and will always be'--far from it.
this system is heading in only one direction--we owe it to all of life on this planet to stop it.

What books about utopia do I need to read? Human beings have not always lived in harmony. History is filled with tribal warfare, brutal occupations, slavery, religious persecution, & raping/pillaging has existed since the beginning of time. Some did live in harmony with earth because their self-preservation depended on it. You don't poop where you sleep. Industrialization has disconnected us from nature. We no longer see the consequences of our actions. How do you propose we return to utopia?

i'm not talking about utopia, i'm talking about life outside of civilization. the warfare, slavery, etc. that you list have all existed since the beginning of *civilization*, not time.
think for a moment where you got that idea--the dominant culture?
why would it be important to the dominant culture for people to think these things have *always* existed?

as i said, it is different for different people. a great deal is about awareness. the actions that work for one person may not work for another.
connect to the land. stop the harm. stop giving agreement to the system. bring it down.
many of the videos on my front page address this question in various ways.
zzz33333 has 'solutions' videos.
all i know is that if bright and aware people like you say things like 'warfare and slavery have always existed,' we're sunk. and that makes me grieve.

After all that dialogue I was hoping you would give us a more in depth solution... do you think these well meaning cliches "connect to the land. stop the harm. stop giving agreement to the system. bring it down." will bring down western civilization? The point which was missed in the impassioned discussion is that when people awaken spiritually a natural byproduct is compassion for all of life. You are preaching to the choir. also, a little antagonistic, don't you think? civilization (or, a city-based human culture) claims to be a global solution. "get civilized, and it'll be good!" global solutions are the problem. individual solutions are the answer.
now, no offense, but i don't think i know you well enough to provide some solutions for you! i don't know where you're from, how old you are, etc

"solutions," first off, have to be re-named. we're not looking for "solutions to a problem." civilization is the problem. the solution is to remove it, to live outside of it, to move beyond it.
this can be accomplished, literally, infinite ways. my favorite thing to suggest is "learn to live without a grocery store." i bet you can't do that, and until you can, you're inside civilization.
so much for not having any solutions!

Why misrepresent my words? I'm not saying "be nice to each other". I said we are on the same side. We both want to minimize suffering. What is antagonistic?... asking for specific examples on how you plan to "bring down a civilization" of 7 billion people. The reluctance to give us details discredits your argument. Do you need to individually know 7 billion peoples location, age, etc. before offering them guidance? Surely you have concrete suggestions you can disseminate to the masses.

i'm not interested in being a guru and telling people how to live their lives. i'm interested in ending civilization so that everyone can be free to live their lives their own way.
right now there is only one way to live--in service to the machine. we are all slaves to the machine of profit and production.

a lot about what pennilesscripple is saying is NOT opinion, and i bet you don't even see how minimizing and insulting it is when you call it an opinion!
for instance, civilization is objectively unhealthy for every living organism that is affected by it. that isn't an opinion!
("civilization should come down" is an opinion.)

you talk about 'realizing the truth' and 'awakening'--if you want to do that, then you'll be interested in exploring this. you read. why not read quinn's ishmael?
abraham, for example, promotes production, civilization, and wealth-building, as do many new-age thinkers. this is my main point. how can they support this system? where is the new age spiritual leader who doesn't support the culture of maximum harm?
