it's not for xp.

Windows 7 is it's own operating system therefore, you will have to buy it. Then, XP mode is a feature inside of windows 7.

7 is a very powerful O.S. and, I highly recommend the upgrade.

it was created to do business obligations and stuff like that, for program files that are only supported by windows xp, in that way, the bankers etc will still be able to do that using windows 7 ^^

I don't know where you got the idea that you can't run programs in it.

The point of Windows XP Mode is to allowing Business users to use programs which they can't be without, but don't work with Windows 7. You can try Games on it, as it is it's own OS. But you have to remember that Windows XP doesn't know your PC's specifications, it's set to ownly a limited amount of everything, so the games performance etc will be awful :)

Well. I heard about virtual xp will be able to run old programs so I supposed games were there too, but some people says that it will be impossible. so I said what's the idea... I mentioned programs i dont know why, maybe a mistake lol

My concerned is about older games on W7; how they will run in it? good, bad?. Games like Age of empires 2, Max payne 1 and 2, etc.

I don't really want to format the pc right now lol, it's the reason I'm looking for some demos videos.

Windows 7 does have a Compatibility Engine, and it does allow you to run programs which were designed for older versions of Windows.

If Windows 7 doesn't work with the games, that Compatibility Engine will come and ask you some questions to help get it working :)

I could understand if people wanted compatibility with Windows 3.1 only apps, but this is just Windows XP; the LEADING OS in all major businesses, schools, and homes in the country. It was literally the most successful OS of all time. Not even half the people who use XP have even tried Vista. So compatibility with all XP applications is absolutely crucial in my opinion.

And I don't see how it would slow down Windows 7 at all. Having 2 OSes in 1 is more likely to slow down.

Vista (but ouch) , and Windows 7 is the new technology, they needed to change a lot in the core, simply you can't make backward compatibility without virtualizaiton or else you make it a bloated windows XP . so it cannot be achieved. but with XP virtual PC, and stable Windows 7, businesses and software companies will soon move to 7, and then by 1-2 years, apps for XP become too old or already get a patch. if you love old you still can run it on VPC. I think it is a good term
