The ARC is definitely not 'stupid' as someone said here, it's unique and actually something of a revolution, particularly on higher track-count projects. Being able to interrogate any channel in your project in the blink of an eye and rearranging channel orders on the fly while mixing, as well as copying eq's or sends or pan etc to multiple channels in less than a heart beat means you don't even have to think about mixing while using the console. I have a C|24 and a Smart Console E48 and for mi
So, basically it is a big control surface, no actual audio I/O like a real console. I think I would rather have an SSL AWS900+SE; that is ergonomic and will actually have an effect on your sound.
No i have not, but its still the same concept, no matter what you're going to be in a chair hanging over a desk, it isnt any more ergonomic than say a D-Control. Even then if you dont want something with lots of knobs then buy a fader port its literally this except very compact the whole running fingers down a board is stupid, theres a reason why industry stadard consoles are the was they are, its because they're keeping it the traditional way of mixing.
Sorry mate, but not the same concept as a D-Control at all. With all due respect, you can't really comment unless you have used it. Until you sit in front of one and use it yourself, the best you can do is speculate.
I've been doing a GREAT deal of research on both consoles (especially the Tango) & these are well worth the money to help you mix using your "ears" & not "eyes".
1.) $6,500.00 US Smart AV Tango
2.) Still waiting on a price for both the Smart AV 8 & 24 Mix
This solution along w/ Euphonix is far better than being locked into a Digidesign controller
Its funny that people compare this to the ssl AWS900,

Yes, it's pretty, but ergonomic, compared with a Smart Console? Not even close...
