@Tadddius Shinobi is the highest ranking for a ninja. Shinobi is not his name, it's what he is. Other than that. The game was fun and awesome to play. I have all the originals on sega genisis. Not very much of a storyline there just playing it really. But stil awesome.
It is pretty certain he dies at the end of the game.
As Hiroku is defeated, the golden palace crumbles under Hotsuma.
He doesn't even try to save himself.
I think his only determination was to avenge his brother and his clan, only to be united with them in death. I love this game for its story line, gameplay, music and art style. One of my favourites of all time. Hotsuma is the perfect tragic hero. The last ninja in the modern world.
This game lacked a good story. But it was an okay game. I feel that maybe a Ninja would have been able to spice up his fighting style. Guess the creators didn't. I gave it a 7/10
The woman at the end is Kagari Ubusuna (産土 篝, Ubusuna Kagari), she was a Shrine Maiden who was kidnapped by Hiruko who needed to sacrifice her in order to resurrect his ultimate weapon, the long-forgotten evil known as Yatsurao. Hibana is not mentioned, seen or referenced to in Shinobi.
Bloody love this game, but for all the fun I had on it there is just some things you can't forget - mainly the DOGSWITHFUCKINGKNIFESAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH
I wonder what happen to Hotsuma after when he won this battle.. All I know for sure he disappear and left the Akujiki behind then in part 2 of Nightshade. the Akujiki got shatter into pieces..
this game is too annoyingly hard. i give up, its sitting in the corner with my old ps2 games. sits in the category, "Never to be played agin." music is really nice though i gotta admit
i traded in this game not too long ago with the last amount of strength in my hands. honestly, this game is difficult. I never defeated hiruko, but if i ever played again, i'd defeated him. I might get bayonetta.
"THOUGH I MUST LIVE IN THE DARKNESS SERVING THE WEAK AND DEFEATING EVIL. THIS IS THE FATE OF THE LONE WOLF SHINOBI MASTER." ...and damn that final battle took a lot out of me, my ps2 controller was sizzling. AND THIS WAS JUST IN NORMAL MODE.
God damn ninjas! I got all the way to the final boss, before I got too damn frustrated trying to cause even significant damage, but dying every time, and I had to return the game to Shlockbuster.
Woulda fucking helped if they included the blasted manual with the games, like they used to, but nooooooooooooooooo. Like I didn't figure out the Thunder Kick untill the boss with the giant metal frisbee.
Something i never figured out..did hotsuma actually survive? I know they split akujiki up in nightshade and used it as a barrier against hellspawn but. I don't think they ever explained if hotsuma made it out alive..
But this ending is so sad! Cos he's the last of his kind, and probably has no more reason to continue living on, having already taken revenge.

It wasnt that hard. quite easy really if your into speedy/skill games, plus the controls are easy. Play Ninja Gaiden, thats much more harder.
