  • do they all take a DDR3 RAM memory? I have a acer aspire 5742s with 2gb RAM and im about to upgrade it to a 4gb ram and on the sticker it says "2gb DDR3 Memory" will a 4gb DDR3 1333 Mhz work with it??

  • @XxSnipeDatFacexX Click the link in the description to the video to go to the Crucial Memory Advisor Tool. I never guess when it comes to memory; I let the memory manufacturers TELL me what is compatible - and they guarantee it.

  • As simple as that, thanks for the help.

  • I have an HP Probook 4525s. There are no obvious screws, or ways to get to the mobo. How do I get inside this to upgrade the RAM myself?

  • @YouWantMeYouCantPay Do a Google search for a tech or service handbook for your model.

  • @FreeCompConsultant Thanks, I did and figured it out. It was little tricky at first until I realized that you have to insert the ram at an angle first.

  • @GTAxooox Changing the hard drive will not affect graphics; that's one downside to a laptop versus a desktop - there really is no way to upgrade video.

  • Is it possible to do this for Netbooks as well?

  • @Ft522 absolutely, check out eeepcupgrade(dot)com

  • ok i have a lil problem i had 512 ram i put new ram cards in there both (500) i log on and it still say 512 ram what dont get it?

  • how much memory would you recommend for someone running computer games and lots of video editing software

  • @josejalapeno117 4GB if the PC allows it; if you have Windows 7 64bit, I'd go higher than that

  • @josejalapeno117 Probably about 6gb min

  • where did he get the new chip thingy!!!

  • thank you this really helped

  • how good if I know everything about computers ..

    hehehe

  • hey can i take my ram from my old toshiba laptop and upgrade my new one with it? the old one is screwed up and i dont want to spend money on it so i desided to ungrade my new one with its parts

  • You would have to check what type of memory the old laptop uses, and what the new laptop uses. DDR memory will not fix in DDR2 slots.

  • if the old one is screwed up its useless depending on what u mean by "screwed up"

  • can you tell me please how to remove memory ram for an acer 9 ears old laptop with 198 mb ram and 64 mb video memory and a 40 gb hdd can you telll me pleaseeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks a lot .

now i will upgrade the memory of my laptop myself,

    cheers

  • dang it, i thought it was actually giving u free memory! but its actually giving u tips! dam it!

  • You cannot get free memory.

  • go to my computer- right click on the icon and go to properties then go to advanced and the first settings button then go to virtual memory then clkick change and use your hard drive as ram.

  • are u a girl?

  • my page is done!

  • blargh i need to put more ram in mine lol. i left my comp at geeksquad for fixung and they stole a stick of my ram -.-

  • i would kick their arse!!!!

  • so they scammed u?

nvr go to a store and leave ur comp there and they tell u to come back, always stay with ur comp!

  • my friend, i got a HP Compaq nx6315 notebook i want change the ram memory, when i open the memory cover, there isn't ram memory.. my system already have 256MB... where is that memory? can u help me? thanks for u help

  • Is there an empty slot?

The 256 may be on the system board with an empty slot accessible for expansion.

If you don't have a manual for it, go to HP's site and look it up - it should tell you what you need to know.

  • yes.. is empty but i found the ram memory, there are two slots on different sides in the same place on motherboard the first slot is under the keyboard (there is where is these ram memory) and the second one is on the memory cover taking the laptop upside down..

  • perfect.

Head to my website freecomputerconsultant (link in video description), click the "PC Slowing down" link on the left, then read the "memory upgrade" section.

In there is a link to my preferred memory vendor.

  • Your memory is under your keyboard. You have to remove the keyboard to get to the memory.

  • Great video...It was very helpful!

  • should we ground ourselves before replacing the RAM? How do you do that?

  • touch some metal.... like a metal table e.t.c or any metal component in your laptop.

  • nice
