Bermuda beach is back to normal...we have a house down there, front row was wiped out and all gone. Bermuda beach drive is beach separated by bollards. Second row homes are now front row.
because of the 8,000 + people buried about 15 feet beneath Galveston you did. The city is nearly 13 feet higher than it was in 1900 - can you imagine the storm surge of Ike without that 13 feet - and the 1900 storm had winds twice as strong as well...
@BlueYup Yep. That was an incredible sight, was not sure what it was when it was happening. There were lots of fires on Galveston that day/night and next day.
Interesting initiative using a timelapse long! .. is remarkable the progress of the sea to inland .. I am always fascinated to note the change in the cyclonic circulation in an extensive time lapse video.
If we ever get lucky with the right hurricane, we hope to show the turning of the hurricane's center along with the surge that it pushes ashore. A lot of things have to come together at exactly the right time for that to happen. How about that fire too? Notice how the smoke streams across the shot from left to right but the clouds are coming pretty much at the camera? The winds were not aligned from the surface to the cloud ceiling. I never have seen that before.
Yes, fire is a good reference for the dominant and shifting winds .. that you mention, a timelapse video of the eyewall could apply to the best ever made .. nobody has tried, it's true, it takes many ideal circumstances. Greetings.
I'm just curious, what is the time that fire started at 10:10 ? Recording the seawall storm surge is useless since the water shoots up an extra 5 feet because of its structure. I'm going to take a look at those apartments near Olympia Grill soon.
the last time i was there i parked just about where the blue house was

Lol, right after the lightening hit that sign went out.
And where is that smoke coming from starting at 10:13?
CitricAcid 1 year ago
@CitricAcid The smoke is from the marina near the port cranes.

Obviously not a direct hit, so this all looks deceptively minor and not dangerous. The passage of the eyewall would be a hugely different situation!

You're welcome. I hope that people can see the power of a hurricane from a different perspective- and this seems to help. Keeps us safer too.
