the fire alarm went off durin gmy bat mitzvah and the party. 17 times (my friends counted not me). apparently they had rigged it so it went off it someone opened the back door.

Correct they can't disable it but they could've temporarily covered the detectors in the area either for the duration of the wedding or until the fire part of the ceremony was over. They will cover smoke detectors when a construction job is being done as well because the dirt, dust, and debris can set them off as well.

That was probably when the Fire Department Checked it out and cleared it.. and Brown Guy, they are not allowed to Disable the Alarm system unless it is being worked on.. its Illegal for an Establishment to shut it off without the Alarm Company and FD's Permission

that happened on my sisters wedding... you'd have thought they'd disable the detection where the wedding is. In indian weddings a small fire is part of it and the smoke set the alarms off, and they said they disabled the detectors in that room
