@TheDorkForest I can't agree with with the mindless torture of animals for the sake of us keeping them longer than they should be kept, but I also can't agree with giving up on animals. Veterinarians are supposed "To constantly endeavour to ensure the welfare of animals committed to his care." Yes, a veterinarian can only suggest to the owner to put the dog/cat down, but the decision is in the hands of the owners. I wouldn't want to see a healthy dog be given up on, because I have before.

I often like sarcastic & harsh humor even when it targets folk like me - harsh truths can be really funny if they *are* truthful. When one isn't, and folks wrongly take it as true, it nudges them towards harmful decisions.

This one fortunately isn't true: just as in humans, there's a lot that can be done at home to restore quality of life & treat conditions, old cats usually have at least one. If someone can't bond enough to bother, a virtual pet might be better, no offense meant!

@AkuSan10 Ask owners w/experience: vet med is parallel with ours now, even uses the same drugs for a great quality of life. It's showing love to care for them and to let go when we can't stop their pain.

They're not just animals to any that bond & know their minds -- same as how my parents didn't agree that I was 'just' a physically disabled autistic baby they should give up. Others couldn't imagine bonding, but it didn't mean it wasn't possible or worthwhile, if you see what I mean.

@TheYellowOrangeFox8D If you love your dog, then look into what vet care does make possible these days -- they can treat even heart failure so the pet can have months or years of normal, energetic, happy life with just pills mixed into food.

I was lucky. My old vet wasn't available when "B" became paralyzed, so I went to another that showed me the REAL truth. "B" got 3 more years of wonderful life w/congestive heart failure & played merrily up to his last day.
