Honestly, its across the board. Think about. Mayfield had contemparies like bob Dylan, Lennon, Neil Young, Carol King, Jim Croce, Marvin Gaye and a few other writers who wrote important lyrics, and powerful music. Greatness within is brought out from the greatness of others. People during that period did music to sound like their own but also be different at the same time. The mentality now is not there.
