Big Brown never lost to a filly. Curlin did last year, to Rags to Riches in the Belmont.

Secretariat (might want to spell that correctly) raced in 1972-73. Ruffian raced from 1974-75.

I think they meant that Ruffian beat them as in the lengths they won by or something like that....okay, so that really doesn't make sense, but oh well....

Don't even post Big Brownstain in the same sentence as Secretariat. Sec was a horse who beat very fast 3 year olds (much faster than this years terribly slow crop) and he did it on the lead, from behind with dirt in his face, stalking and closing fashion. The times he ran in his races were insanely fast, something Big Brown has never done, not even once. So BB drew off against horses who are mostly running their final 1/4 mile in 27-28 seconds - slow! Big deal! This horse got exposed today!

I'm not going to give away the mathematical formula--but it goes like this. Take each horse's G2 races (1 1/8th Mile and greater) and G1 races. Adjust them for distance (requires cross-multiplication) and weight or grade breaks that result in position being held as well as reward their close over the last 1/4 Mile. Only a win by Big Brown could deliver the Triple Crown, however.

We have been blessed with so many great horses this millenium...Ghostzapper, Dubai Millenium, Rags to Riches, Point Given, Smarty Jones, Lost in the Fog, Barbaro, Bernardini, and Invasor. They have made history, but two horses are going for immortality this year. Let's hope that both Curlin and Big Brown stay healthy, and pray that they meet towards the end of the year. Great video. "Odds are no,something will happen as always,hopefully nothing fatal..." So go put on a pair of 6 inch heals, put a 90lb monkey on your back and run in the sand. It might not be fatal but at least you'll know how ridicuals it is. Even in the Special Olympics someone wins. Derby Officials change the age of horses to 5 years olds-it's not the first time this has been requested in the 200 years of American Derby racing.

I'm not that fan of the Kentucky Derby winner this year Big Brown, so sad that Eight Belles had to be put down, but maybe it will be a Triple Crown winner this year!

This year's 3 year old crop is the weakest I have ever seen. I am only 23 years so that isn't saying much. But I don't see any Victory Gallop's, or Empire Maker's, or even a Birdstone type of horse to deny Big Brown. I sure hope he gets it. Yet, somehow I think that if he does win it all, it will be tarnish by Eight Belles tragedy :(
