  • One great way for a beginner to damage their face is to try using the ball as a foot rest. :P

  • you tryd to sound more manly sayn it was a red ball its pink and you no it

  • red ball :D

  • Dirty little regect in background xD

  • who else noticed the music in the background?

  • hey how much times a week should we do push?

also how much set?? please help!!

  • @chaldeansup Do 4 sets of 25 each day.

  • I can't bend all the way to the ground, I know i have to give it more practice, but this video ain't for starters!

  • Did he just spit at 0:27 ?

  • yeeuupp

  • @persiaruler no

  • so it isnt just my gym that plays terrible music

  • mine tends to play metal

  • You are a good trainer but please stop explaining push ups like building a piramide! We arn't made of sand! i'm a personal trainer to and i'm done with beware of this and that etc etc. Train hard and coach that is the key not explaining how to put your hands etc. Come with nice excersise, or training whitch is new. I'm not making a judge i think you are a good trainer. Keep up!

  • "that niggas gym is gayyy. pink lights r u kidding me".....

That was real good (for a monkey)! Let me say this: The only "gay" thing here is your faggot moniker (that's your name-you're a moron, and probably didn't know that). This guy does a pushup probably better than any 5 of you and your MONKEY friends have ever done combined. Take a basic writing class and leave the exercise critique to us. Jack ass.....LMAO! Your poor F^&king parents!

  • he's gay and he could do push up beter than you bitch

  • that guy is mad fucking awkward

  • this push ups arnt the best, just put your hands in a diamond position right uder ur chest and d them, they are the best and the quickest way to build up chest, shoulders and triceps

  • thanks man, sounds good

  • That is focusing more on the tricept though, and make sure you're not over extending your wrists. You best bet imo is to do normal push-ups with grips and a weighted rucksack.

  • actually no it's been proven that diamond push up's tear muscles that's why they discontinued them in the military

  • those focus on triceps.

  • and chest.

  • the best way to do push ups is with fists and tucked elbows because the 'traditional' way can damage your elbos and puts unneeded pressure on wrists

  • Because it's for stupidest people .. like those who play runescape at age of 28

  • why does expert village put out the stupidest shit?

  • they have like a lot of vids man. of course they'll have a lot of stupid shit. the have a lot of gud shit as well too!

  • @kdaaawwwg

you must not do them right or you would know that they do help.

  • that niggas gym is gayyy. pink lights r u kidding me

  • I CANT DO ANY Press ups has any1 got any tips lol? i need to join the army

I dunno weather its because of my technique Muscel or just my bone strenth?

  • looks like we're both screwed haha. same exact problem as you, and i play hockey...

  • lol yeh :( i was the first out because i couldent do 20 press ups in a Min on this test thing but for the sit ups i did over 300 lol 20 a Min.

  • Go to your recruitment center, sign yourself up, they give you a workout plan, trust me I only used to be able to do 10 in a row and that was very poor, I can now do 180 without stopping.

Take the workout plan and it works. I done it.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah they're not easy if your body is not used to it. Once you get fitter it becomes easier the more you do them, and if it's really hard just fight through it.

  • ive played rugby since i was 5 im now 14 and ive always played my hardest, i can hardly do 30 thats realy good

  • no offense. but yhu dudes are weak. i hate sports.... but i can do 43 push ups in a minute. and im 13. this is my sisters acount, but yhu can still reply if yhu want to...

  • i started at beeing able to do 36 push ups , after 4 FREAKIN months with daily push ups i can now only do 43... kinda frustrating :/ any tipps for me , help desperatly needed -_-

  • My gym teacher always says that its not worth it if you dont push yurself to your hardest. do yhur push ups until yhur arms shake and yhur BODY says no. not when yur MIND says no. those are two different things. work past your thresh hold. Good luck !

  • I'm training for the Royal Marines and i got told you must always have your arms tucked in, elbows in not out when doing a basic push up. I only have elbows out when doing wide arm pushh ups concentrating on the pecs.

  • dammit... i have a hard time doing push-ups tsk tsk got bad arm strength

  • how many a day

  • How many reps and sets a day.

  • Dude good vid, however you didn't talk about breathing, for those who are still learning. I feel that is still one of the more important points overlooked.

  • yeah i agree perhaps a video is in order :)

  • you can also pushup off your fists or your finger tips which is by far the hardest or you can set your hands closer towards you sholders to work with your triceps and chest if you do perfect form otherwise you'll also work your shoulders

  • ill send you a medal shirairyuscorpion if you reli want one for tht achievement!

  • Showing off your push-ups is cool if you are telling the truth but it would be better to stimulate girls to do it because I would not give a penny about watching guys do push-ups for me or in front of me. I would prefer a chick performing squats very close to me and right in front of my lap or my face. Greetings ! GeorgeRocky

  • I think thats awesome. However,I find it kind of cocky to post this on differnt videos trying to show off.

  • Is it ok to do them 5 days in a row (mon-fri) and rest on the weekend, or is this overtraining?

  • hey, if your asking about it then i take it your not use to that, and then yes it is overtraining, but do it anyways!after 2 weeks or so your body will be so use to it and youll be able to do more

  • it's not overtraining at all. If you do heavy exercise than 1 rest day a week is a good idea. If you're doing a couple of hundred a day then you can safely do it every day. It's not taxing on your body.

  • It's not about how many push ups you can do, it's about how much more waight you can add to the exercise besides your bodyweight. For example if you can do like 50-70 push ups, try to elivate your feet higher while your doing the push ups. Which means to raise them higher up in the air than the ground level like on a chair, table etc. Take 30 while having your feet on a chair 5 times a day. That's very effective.

  • why do you think it's nonsense?

  • Why the hell are there soo many ppl on youtube who think that its good to do as many push-ups as possible every day... It's nonsense -.-

  • sometimes i will just do pushups for the fun of it, and not like 30 then cba, like... loads =D until my arms cant do another, then loads more =D try it you'd liek it.

  • marko,you are overtraining

  • Hey I don´t want to sound a little cocky, but I´m 19 and since 2 years I can do 6 sets of 100 or plus push ups, right now I can do 6 sets of 145 push ups,and the next day I do some curls,to this day my chest has very good definition and my triceps too,in fact I like more doing push ups than curls,I find it more fun.

  • =) do you ometimes like, just do pushups just cause you wanna, and liek carry on till you cant to any more xD i love push ups, right now i can do about 60 sometinhg in 30 seconds, done 55 in 30 at school for GCSE PE, but im improved more =)my goal is being able to carry on the pace that i do for about 3 minutes.(2.5 or so pushupos per sec)

  • I'm doing 100 every day in as less time as I can. Do you guys think that's good or am I overtraining?

  • I'm a doctor of exercise science.

    Yes, you are overtraining.

  • You should allow yourself atleast 24 hours rest.

I do 300 pushups within 15-20 minutes every two days, by going in sets of 10 and resting about 20 seconds between sets.

    Try that regimen.

  • what?? i dont call that ovrtrinaing,if you oveload on exercise the more you get out of it, and when you get to a point of doing 100 in as less time as you can, then 100 everyday starts to turn into nothing.gio if you start dogin 150 a day, youll find it no prob and then if you take a 24 hour rest then next days youll find you get tirred way less + omre

  • Damn, I hate doing push ups. It feels like work instead of a workout to me. I'd rather hit a bench any day...lol

  • My only complaint in this video would be the common tactic of trying to over emphasis unimportant details as a replacement for real technical information. The fingers dont need to be aligned with anything, and the abs contract on their own as soon as you get into position.

Other than that, no real problems here.

  • paultae-

If ur trying to tone ur body u can keep doin what u r doing but try and increase the amount of pushups u r doing by 1 set every week-to every other week. If you are working for build elevate your feet as high as possible and do ur pushups VERY slow. This will stimulate the muscle and increase the muscle tearing, which will heal stronger and bigger. You can also use weights. I use a weight vest while elevating my feet and it works great

  • Super slow workouts have been debunked in the scientific community for quite some time. Also, accumulative microtrauma (the muscle tears) do not in any sense guarantee muscle building. Finally, connective tissue such as tendons and ligaments do not strengthen during the eccentric portion of the rep, and neither does speed strength or explosive strength owing to neurological input.

tl;dr - there's just no reason to do slow negatives!

  • I'm doing 7 sets of 15 push ups each, every other day. I'm skinny. Should I add more? Should I make it everyday?

  • You are doind great after a week or two increase the number of sets, if you do them everyday you could harm yourself so it is good every other day.

  • email me at zendreams(at)gmail(dot)com if you're interested. I dont mind answering your questions in detail.

As for your program, 7 sets of 15 reps??? Every other DAY??? Sir, you're significantly over training! Its no wonder you're skinny, and here you're talking about adding more or making it every day.

3 sets of 10 once a week is pretty standard.

  • Head up! I don't know why raising your makes it harder but trust me it does. Always head up!

  • cuz when your head is up you intend to go more lower

  • what would you suggest for someone who wants to build upper body strength without weights, but by doing pushups only?..how many should i do? and how often?

  • I'd like to know this too. I do 5 sets of 50 pushups 4x a week. What's a good target range?

  • that would probably keep ur arms tone,it depends really,i do 90 on mornings/b4 i sleep.and 90 when i get back fomr school,so that 5 times a wek, then at weedends, i do as many as i can in 30 secs, normall get 95-110 then drop, gets better everytime tho, then atleast 2 50-90's gonna start doing 12 slow ones too.2 secs going down,5 sec down,1sec going up-12times, gonan tyr that atleats 2 times after the 50's

  • If you're going for any kind of mass or strength, you're wayyyyyyyyyyyyy off.

Even if you're going for endurance, you could benefit tremendously by laying off for a while. Rest 1 week completely, without doing anything at all, then have 1 workout where you do as many push ups as possible with almost NO eccentric stress, then wait another few days and start back. Your strength will have gone up tremendously.

  • Hey, everyday i do like a 60 pushups straight, and do a 50 more. Is that more effective than doing more sets with less reps or is it less effective???

  • Even though this is a VERY gross oversimplification of the entire process:

    less reps = more strength

    more reps = more endurance

So it depends on what you're trying to do. If you just want to keep in shape, it doesn't matter how many you do short of overtraining. If you're going for strength or size, bench pressing is best - though you could add lots of weight on your back and do less reps for a few sets.

  • david, do slow push ups,2 secs going down,3-5 sec wait, then 1 sec going up,10+ would be ok, then just do that asmany times as you want really. also - i do inverted pushups, when you use a bench, i use the side of my bed,sit on floor like a doll with legs together but out,and ur back on the side of the bed, grab the side with ur hands and do them.you should alos do situps, nopoiint for me tho im fine with situps xD

  • I'm not a big fan of slow decent, as there's really no medical or scientifically validated reason why this should be included in a push up movement. Tempo counting has been debunked as well, as it detracts the brains neurological input from your ability to lift. The 3-5 second wait thing is just horrible - this completely robs your muscles natural plyometric response, and doing 10+ violates the law of individual differences.

  • well if you are a beginner, you should do push ups EACH set until you are exhausted

I typically do a 100 push ups a day, with 5 sets of 20 or more, and my upper body strength significantly increased.

  • There's nothing critercising I can say about those pushups...except maybe when you go down you should go down slower like go down in about 3 or 4 seconds then pause for about 1 and then come up quite fast. This will make it a tiny bit harder...Otherwise good video *thumbs up*

  • There's really few advantages to prolonging eccentric contractions To make push ups harder, bearing in mind that the ultimate goal is adaptation, you would either increase reps or increase weight.

  • Looking up has nothing to do with form or cosmetics, it's just a tip to achieve better range because most people tend to pull their face closer to the ground when they go down. If you're looking up (even slightly up at an angle), you tend not to do this and will go down farther.

  • No pain- no gain

  • good form but supposed to look up not at the ground

  • you are supposed to look at the groung, if you look up, you'd be straining your neck. you look at the ground with your neck straight (looking at the ground in front of you).

  • wrong!. look up not down

  • thank you are the only person that has stated that in any on the 10 push up videos I've seen. HEAD UP!!

  • thanks very much! that was a very useful vid.

    No Pain, No Gain!!

  • This one was quite useful:)

Guess a lot of another people appreciate your videos,

at least I do;) *5 stars*

    No pain- no gain;D

  • Look up not at the ground??? So when you bench do you look behind you??? It doesn't really matter...you can achieve good bodily form either way,but cosmetically it does appear better.
