its what its worth to someone that has a love for that particular sound on that label.i have payed hundreds for a sound that i wanted.and regularly spent twenty pounds for a record back in the seventies.that was over a weeks wages.stick it on e bay with a reserve of about a grand or use it as a frizbee and throw it my way.lol
probably the most original begining of any northern soul sound ever.the dancefloor would fill during the intro and then the dance beat would have everyone in a frenzy.
Great tune!! Which reminds me I have this on the original Roulette 7". I swapped it for Carl Carlton 'Competition aint nothin' on the Action record label back in '93 (which I got for a pound at a flea market in Bolton). Wonder which is worth more these days?
i do know this record is on a cd called jazz spectrum real jazz for real people.remember this track blasting out at the all nighters in peterborough many years ago, brilliant.
Al Foster is just an alias of Ivano Alberto Fossati. He re-released the song as "Night of the Wolf" for the US-market. The original 7" is italian and has the title "Tema del Lupo". It's also up on youtube but has only about 500 views because nobody knows it's the original breakbeat monster.
It's considered a Break Beat only after it's original genre, due to the fact that there is a distinct "Break beat " in the song. This is actually Contemporary Jazz, or Jazz Fusion. God, I love music..........
as it says in the tag for the video, this is called northern soul - check out some northern soul compilations and see if you like it, lots of great stuff.
did many a shuffle to this song , great memorys

I know this was originally - Ivano Alberto Fossati & Oscar Prudente - Tema Del Lupo (1973) and was also released as Al Foster.
But does anyone know which club/DJ started playing on the Northern Soul scene first?

Anyone know what genre this song belongs to?
hirrz 3 years ago
Well, not exactly. I wouldn't really know how to categorize it other than saying it's a very well-known break beat.
