  • This song, this movie... they marked my birth as a cinema lover.

    Thank you, François Truffaut.

  • It has impact for the 400 blows, but even more so for The diving bell and the butterfly.

  • One of the most remarkable pieces for any film ever. <3

  • Why does this make me cry - why is it so moving?

  • does anybody know what recent movie this song is in?

  • @stubeef9890 The diving Bell and Butterfly (2007) its in the scene when he's driving his new car, beautiful sequence full of nature and happiness.

  • @andreilis1 I am a big fan of Les Quatre Cents Coups and when I heard this song in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly I cried a little.

  • who else in the whole human race could make a movie like this? We ought to thank Truffeaut for making this.

  • @cys12141 I could not say it any better myself- "Who else in the human race could make a movie like?"

  • Déchirant.

  • Fantastique

  • I just wish more people new and heard about this song

  • Many great scenes from this masterpiece.

One of the more heart wrenching ones was when Antoine is taken from the holding cell in the police station in a paddy wagon and he takes his last look of freedom at the streets of Paris at night as tears silently roll down his face. Wow.

  • geode has done a brilliant remix of this music which is up on the music media website soundcloud. do a search for 'geode - ephemeral' in the Soundcloud search bar if you're interested.

  • Muy Bueno!!!!

  • This is my favorite motion picture of all-time and this theme just exemplifies Truffaut's greatness in cinema history!

  • no Jesus

    no peace

    know Jesus

    know Peace

  • Any idea what font is used in the credits?

  • Amazing piece, used to great effect in the modern masterpiece The Diving Bell and Butterfly.

  • i cry at many movies, but never my eyes have burst into such big teardrops... the song reminds the heart about it's never-coming-back childhood . it's a very sensible, yet sober and nobel song. bu t maybe the best complimnt one can bring to the song it's one's teardrops...

  • Antoine runs from his mére to the mer

  • I normally hate music from older films, but I *love* this.

  • I like this song. This was my favorite part of the film.

  • @mikeellerbeck What do you mean? It was played multiple times.

  • La Nouvelle Vague!

  • la nusica music

  • 絶対の探求読んじゃいましたww

  • this piece always makes me cry and I don't really know why

  • @shinyalbert It happens the same to me. It's my favorite movie, ¡la mejor!

  • @shinyalbert I love you for saying that

  • i`ve watched this film in the art of the film class. And i love it. it`s one of my favorite now

  • ♥ :)

  • those memories, so many emotions ...

  • i soooo love this song! thanks! ~ i like d oboe part,if its the oboe 1:26

  • Thanks for this clip. I would love to see the WHOLE film.

If this is such a classic film & if it is also so old (1952) then I wonder why I can't find much of it on youtube? You'd think nobody would be worrying about copywrite anymore.

  • It JUST got a Bluray release. I think people are still making money off of the best French New Wave film released.

  • i really love this movie

  • 2:41 :)

  • Your videos completely make my day. I can never find the scores for many of Truffaut's films.

    Thanks!
