Pettitte was the Yankees stopper. He wasn't always a sure thing, but he was definitely a big-game pitcher and especially so in the twilight of his career. His retirement is a major setback. This is a void that will not be easy to fill, this year and perhaps beyond.

I highly doubt Mitre will be the yankees 5th starter. Maybe Freddy Garcia or they trade for one.
