  • this shit takes me back.love it

  • This brings back so many memories... Had it for the Speccy. It didn't load ;_;

Then played it on the arcades a few years later and fell in love with the awesome graphics and colours on-screen. Then finally had it for the Commodore Amiga.

To not get pass through the first friggin boss. I swear the arcade version seems easier to beat.

  • @melvoin Like most games of that vintage it was an ST port, so it didn't use any of the Amiga's features (32 colours, hardware scrolling etc). The only games of the late '80s that used the Amiga properly were games written specifically for it (e.g. Shadow Of The Beast). Later on, developers used the Amiga as the gold standard and down-converted the ST version, or towards the very end dispensed with the ST version completely. Pang, Rodland and Snow Bros were near-perfect conversions.

  • @turricaned Though Rodland did only really do this by sacrificing the whole second chapter game :(

  • @jamesbuc I'm sure Ronald Pieket-Wieserik would have kicked himself had he known - the guy is sometihn of a perfectionist.

  • MOTHERFUCKENKIWIBASTARD at 0:05

  • Loved this game as a kid. Amiga had some of the best games ever

  • I don´t know if it´s true or not but the KIWI can fly: I used to pull up the joystic like crazy while in mid-air and the KIWI started to fly up!!!

  • @Strap1205 lol I did the same but he doesn't fly up. If you push he joystick up and down fast he flaps his wings and glides down much slower. doesn't go up though

  • @dageezerboi Well, he did fly up but only a few flaps - and then my arms fell off because of that much joystick-raping!! xD

  • I think this might've inspired Yoshi's Island in more ways than one. Seems like a good port though it could've looked and sounded better obviously.

  • OMG!!! This was one of my fave ever games!!!!

  • omg yes!!! i finally found this game!!! oh the nostalgia! thank you so much for the gameplay <3

  • Loved this game as a kid, but I never noticed that all ocean versions have the main theme cut in half, I didn't see that until I bought the Mega Drive version.

  • anyone remember the mutherfuckinkiwibastard cheat?? lol

  • Loved the game but had to use the infinite lives cheat and usually used the 'shortcuts' to speed things up. The Finale levels would catch me out since each time you died you went back to start of the level.

Nice to see the last boss but guessed it would be the seal.

What was the boss on Level 3. Never could work it out. Took me ages to kill. I might try your method.

Bit boring at the end. At least Rainbow Islands gave you congratulations.

  • great seeing it again :) loved this game! but only had it on the Spectrum 128K disc drive. no colours - but it was still great fun! never did make it to end, but it was interesting to see the ending here. the final battle with the walrus/lepord seal looked actually quite easy and underwhelming, especially after all the hard graft!! but thank you for uploading it. could sit there and just watch. even the music makes me happy :)

  • I remember getting infinite lives by accident when I was playing this a long time ago...

I got to the walrus, but then i kept dying (falling off my ride for no reason!) and I had to start from the beginning of the level! Eventually I got frustrated and never finished the game... =(

  • I spend countless hours on this game not having a clue what I was doing... oh the memories <3 :D

  • this game had the SAME 32 BARS OF MUSIC ALL THE WAY THROUGH IT. No wonder it's been stuck in my head since I was 4 years old.

  • Best music EVAR!

  • those jellyfish that eat you were pretty terrifying at the time

  • the ending music is the same as the title music on the c64

  • Gota love the song ...over and over and over lol was a fun game <3

  • oooo so many memories with this game..i was so little and i yell i want to paly "the birdy" at the amstrad pc!! :))

  • Motherfucking kiwi bastards indeed. The music for this reminds me now of the "Puffin Party" music from Four Lions.

  • That must have been annoying at 21:56, you had no way to get out. Still, awesome longplay, Cubex55, this game brings about alot of good, if frustrated memories. :D

  • This game is so cute :D

I love it! I love all my old Amiga Games!

    Never forgett!

  • Always found that pirate ship level the toughest, especially the arcade version.

How does a walrus float on a balloon, anyway LOL

At least there was a half-decent ending with a little ditty.

  • ive been living in new zealand since 1995, and my life is just like this game!

  • amiga good old memories =)

  • My god, I start to cry when I see these amiga games!!! I want to be 5 years old again ;(!!! /cry a river!

  • Taito had a flair for creating utterly weird games - a Kiwi in sneakers shooting bows - dragons spitting bubbles - small fat kids throwing rainbows...

Their shooters were also instantly recognizable - weird colour schemes and over the top explosions.

They have created a bunch of classics, though, and this Amiga version was utterly brilliant!

  • ey, Cubex55 pls play nebulus too

  • Lil Kiwi is cutee!!! xD I only passed first boss once or twice ahah. What a newbie i was back then =P

  • You're the demigod that made it through the last level.

  • Decent conversion with jerky scrolling á la Atari ST.

  • thee only good game from Ocean

  • Solid. Solid Teeky or whatever it's name was. Imagine playing this game full blast. Music would do the neighbour's heads in! :D

  • Only remember beating this game once. Last level was solid but you made it look easy! Would set you right back to the start if you died. Very frustrating.

  • The tension. Sthffffffft!

  • I could never get past the first level! All those years ago... Thanks for the nostalgia, Cubex55! :)

  • OH WOW!

This has just brought awesome memories from my childhood flooding back! :P

I used to play this game all the time on the Amiga in early 90's.

I can even remember the cheat code was "fluffykiwis" then you could just press Esc to skip to the next level :P

    Thanks for the upload!

  • I never even got close to finishing this game. The guy playing must be an all gaming master!

Its funny... Seeing the game beaten is sort of making my life complete, or something like that - I feel much better now

  • Wow! Top 3 easy! What a game....Big up to da old skool.

  • OH MY GOD.....i always loved this game. i remember playing it as a little kid. all the levels are coming back to me now from the far reaches of my memory.

im getting scared thinking of how hard some of the levels got!

  • fantastic to see (and hear) it after so long - thank you! :D

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmm !!

After 21 years i found my favourit game on Youtube *hahaha*

Great Game that i played on my old amiga 2000,back in the year 1988.

Thank you very much for the upload !!!

    Regradsssss from Germany

  • OMG anyone know where I can find this for download, I can't find it, one of my all time favourites :P

  • Read our channel FAQ :)

  • Thanks agian, you rock!

  • @cubex55 You must be getting bored saying that by now. :P

  • @Yoshoku

    search for tnzs.zip

  • Got this for Christmas 1990 and didnt stop playing it for months. Got that good on it I could clock the score and it would start to display symbols rather than the numbers. Classic game.

  • i tried to get this working on an A1200. it failed.

  • Yeah!!- Quick type FLUFFYKIWIS on the keyboard! Do-da-dum-dum-dum-derm-durm!! :)

The end levels were nuts: They were so sophisticated and you got to use lasers and stuff!!

  • I used to know where all the warps were too!! Ahh- the memories!!!

  • I still think its a chicken :p

  • Thank Heavens they kept the BGM. -.-

  • This was my first game ever ^^ and was for spectrum

  • superkiwimotherfucker

    I love this game.

  • wasn t it motherfuckinkiwibastard? :)

  • in the original release version, that was the cheat yes.

in the more common, later release verson, 'fluffykiwis' was the (much more friendly!) cheat

  • oh yes, sounds more friendly :)

  • this game was so addictive. happy days of me as a 9 or 10 year old playing this obsessively.

  • power!!! amiga rules

  • FLUFFYKIWIS was the cheat for infy lives!

And the one frustrating thing I noticed was that in all the levels you lose a life and restart at point you got killed but for that final level, lose a life even if close to the end, you still have to go back to the beginning! AAAAAAAAAAARGH!

  • but there is no time limit on the final level, so you can always sit around grabbing points until you are awarded an extra life :)

  • You beed the reflexes of a ninja by the look of this game!

  • io AMO questo gioco...e ci voglio rigiocareeee

  • thanks, brings back so many memories...especially of having all my warp points printed in Amiga Format - so many more than Amiga Power managed ;-)

  • watching this game makes me so happy!! :D

  • i almost cry :-D

  • When i see this video all the tender memories of being a child come flooding back, that was life at its best. I miss the amiga! Also i loved lemmings to bits, such beautiful games... :'(

  • This was the VERY first of many years of GREAT gaming... Amiga... R.I.P.!

  • @windh yeah. amiga died cause of microsoft's pcs so i use ubuntu also. you could install linux on the amiga

  • was this game any link to bubble bobble or rainbow islands?

  • Not directly, but all of these games were created by Taito ;)

  • aaah amiga.. those were the times

  • Thanks for this it was fun to see what was after Strait Cook... used to get that far as a kid and then get annihilated! I gotta say too... as much as I love the theme music its so annoying after a while! lol

  • i loved this game!! Man, like a look in the past of my life! See it first time again :D

  • The cheat code was "motherfuckenkiwibastard"!

  • I used the cheat code "fluffykiwis". It gave you infinite lives. ^^

  • i loved the game but it was soooo hard...

    best music!!!

  • loved this game as a child

  • Thanks for reminding me of the hours (days)

    I wasted,did I get any wiser ?

Just kidding...nice to see it back,

after all...it was state of the art then.

    BUT....I got my doubts.

    Still got 'm all,(those games,in their

    beautyfull boxes, Q>======

  • i had this for the amiga! soo hard. never made it past the first few stages, mind you i was only 3 at the time lol

  • my god nostalgia, as for the cheat WOW never knew it. As for the hardness of the game, well I remember dashing home after school and playing this for hours. Was so happy the first time I got past level 1!

  • it's was soooo difficult... insane AFAIR!!

  • me too, so happy!

  • lol cheat! i couldnt step 3 inches without dying. i wish i knew how to cheat when iw as young lol!

  • oh gosh

    i loooved this game

  • Me too, one of the greatest Amiga platformers of all time.

  • ah nostalgia

  • OI LAspurs

    You are correct lol!

hahah. Laughed so hard when i read it in the Amiga cheat book XD

  • *dies*

    *a lot*

  • my god this game was truley amazing!!!!!!! took me back!!x

  • If I remember correctly the cheat on this game on the Amiga was "muthaf*ckinkiwib*st*rds"!! I swear!!

  • OMG! This was my first Amiga-game! Truly classic. :)

  • any of you guys remeber antartic adventures??

  • aye, I remember this. what utter madness

  • Far out!!! I remember this one, it was a long long time ago!

  • Well, there is no animation at the end of 4_3 and no boss in 4, it seemed that this video has been assembled from different run-throughs ;-)

(knowing the MFKB-cheat it is easy to push up to a certain level)

  • Nope, this is one run through. No skip was used.

I have not looked back on the video but on one stage the last level is slit into 2 so it seems to stop short.

  • There's no boss for the penultimate location.

The "pirate ship" stage is in place of the boss.

There was no cutting - I remember this game well from my youth, as I used to play it all the time :)

  • awesome vid! wat ever happend to ocean?

  • Ocean was bought by Infogrames in 1998.

  • You know i never noticed till i was converting this video that one of the kiwis in the intro is smoking. BAD KIWI :O

  • Awesome, remember it like yesterday now 'cos of the music! =D

  • One of my favouite games. Great memories

  • OMG how I remember this game! I used to cheat my way through it!

  • they have this game on the DS in japan. i should damn well get it, considering how many times i tried to freaking BEAT this game.

  • They also have it in Europe. It's not exactly the same - there are some changes and some obligatory touch-screen parts, but for the most part, it's a very solid game.

  • And now make another video clip where you use all the warps :)

  • I tried openeing one of the warps on my runs but it never opened :( I think i needed the bow because i had the big ball weapon. It opened first time round but i never got in it. Thought it would of skipped the boss and i didnt want that in recording.

  • The music is nostalgic.

  • I remember 1989, when everybody used to say: "amiga is capable to do arcade stuff". Damn good old times.

  • I love what you guys are doing.

Keep up the great work. :)

  • YES.

What a game. Thanks for posting this!
