Does anyone know how many horses in total came to grief at the canal turn? Must have been quite a few to leave only 4 horses running. Same thing happened in 2001

One of the great rides in steeplechasing history by Tim Brookshaw. No stirrups from Bechers second time. But for that the galland Scottish hero would have had the National victory he deserved, instead he is still the only horse to finish second three times and one of six Scottish second places in 11 years, two from Freddie in 65 and 66 and Moidores Token in 68 from Wyndburgh' s stable at Denholm near Hawick. Freddie was a Borders horse too trained near Kelso.
