  • NOSTALGIA OF BYGONE RAILWAY NEVER FORGOTTEN TRUST BEECHING TO PUT

    HIS EVIL ON THE LINE

  • @NIGELNIGEL1954 Beeching didnt close this line, if you look at his Report "The Re-Shaping of British Railways" it is not included anywhere in it.

This line was selected for closure later by HM Department of Transport at their own accord and Beeching was rumoured to have been trying to save this line due to its profits in summer months

  • All these closed routes, we'd have so much use for them nowadays.

  • I still remember going to Hunstanton from Foxton as a child. Happy days.

  • the crab and winkle line it was known as

  • used to go to hunstanton on special trips from bedford they were mostly hauled by a B1 this is a real treat to watch but also with sadness .Thanks for getting it together

  • Lived in Heacham North Beach and Now Hunstanton these last 10 yrs. have walked the old track bed most of the way. Beeching has a lot to answer for . The 35 Fast! bus service is no replacement. And the monstrosity that now occupies the old station site Azzam Bros Market... Nough said !!!

  • Hear Hear!!!

  • Great Video, 5 Stars!

  • Smashing video even though I have no conection with the line,,, it must have taken a lot of work and time to gather all the clips and pictures,,, and well done on putting them all together,,,

  • Imagine today if the wires did not finish at Kings Lynn but went on to the natural end of the lne from London - the sea at Hunstanton

  • Was a 6 year old when we moved to Heacham in 1973. Can't remember much of what was left of the railway, just remember the bank along the coast between North and South Beach (was the line still there - I don't remember it) and going to Wolferton on a scool trip to see the station. Thanx for this video; another peice of our history, now sadly, gone.

  • The Line Went from Kings Lynn to Heacam where there was a junction that split left and right, the left went to Hunstanton Terminus, and the Right Went to wells. up to 1950 You could go direct from hunstanton to Kings Cross And Return.

  • The line from Heacham to Wells closed to passengers in 1952, a few months before the floods washed part if it away near Holkham. It stayed open for goods as far as Burnham Market for a while. I think in those days, trains from King's Lynn to London (and a few starting from Hunstanton) went to Liverpool Street rather than King's Cross.

  • I read the book about this line and it DEFINATELY said Kings Cross. maybe liverpool street too. i dunno

  • Where did the other routes go out of hunstanton?

  • great video, I was going to see what was left of the line after watching the original John betjamin BTF, now perphaps I don't need to. Good stuff.
