NOBODY can make a bonkers 4-pot like BMW can. they once made a 1.6 liter 4-cyl for F1 that kept up with the V8s.

They made a normally aspirated 2L with 320 bhp back in the 60's! It had 3 sparkplugs per cylinder, 8 carbs (2 on each side of each cylinder), and quad valves arranged in a radial pattern to make room for the massive intake horns that stuck up out of the hood making it look like a V8. Crazy!

Guess they're using smaller lighter engines to meet upcoming FE standards. Go BMW!

The Volt is no revolution, its just hype. Hybrids SUCK! You can get 10mpg better with a 60s VW bug & a dozen others. Its just another item to make consumers "feel" like they are doing something good. The 96 EV1 was 100% electric. Oh thats right, GM killed the electric car & storage warehoused all the EV tech. You're ignorant OR just lying. The Volt is not like the ALL ELECTRIC limited range V1. The Volt has a 40 mile range ALL ELECTRIC, then, after 40 miles the GAS motor kicks in extending range to 500+ m. The best part is if your daily round trip mileage is around 40 miles you will NEVER use any gas. You come home and plug it in.
