Have you noticed how rappers disses often reflect things they don't like about themselves? Weaknesses they perceive internally - their rap style, appearance, persona etc. For example, a fat rapper calling another guy fat (Madness v Iron Soloman). They expose, as this video illustrates, their self-deprecating subconscience.
- In doing so is he and others just trying to cover up and compensate for their weaknesses? Bring opponent to their level? Or are they making their weakness their strength?
@Kingphilosophy Well as long as they recognise that they have these 'faults', there's no need to not say it. Trying to attack your opponents faults and wear them down is a part of battle rapping. Also, having such weaknesses could give rappers an insight into innovative ways to attack an opponent with the same problem, for example a fat guy might know what pisses him off, and use that against an opponent.

But actually, Phranchyze did bite Iron by using his lyrics. What made it bad, is that he calls out his opponent for biting Iron and somehow didnt see he did the same. All in all though, biting will occur due to how lethal the lyrics are. Not to condone it, but it happens often.

@Kingphilosophy Well as long as they recognise that they have these 'faults', there's no need to not say it. Trying to attack your opponents faults and wear them down is a part of battle rapping. Also, having such weaknesses could give rappers an insight into innovative ways to attack an opponent with the same problem, for example a fat guy might know what pisses him off, and use that against an opponent.

@Kingphilosophy you don't understand rap battling. Battling is like chess, you play the offensive to force your opponents to play defense. Each of your opponents flaws are pieces you can take. You play defense by flipping your opponents insults, or ruining their credibility. Obvious insults, like race or weight are pawns. Barely anybody wins a game of chess without taking pawns. Everybody has pawns. Fat rappers calling each other fat is just them taking pawns.

Its usually filler, to add fire to their flames. A fat guy raps about how his opponent is fat, is just comedy. He knows hes fat as well, but its still quite funny. But actually, Phranchyze did bite Iron by using his lyrics. What made it bad, is that he calls out his opponent for biting Iron and somehow didnt see he did the same. All in all though, biting will occur due to how lethal the lyrics are. Not to condone it, but it happens often.
