The purpose of this is to calm an aggitated chicken or to prepare it for examination with less stress... stress equals death or cannibalism (eating each other or even themselves alive). On that note, which is actually cruel in reality here. Relax viewers, we love our chickens just as much as you do, if not more, we own em AND care enough to do the RESEARCH. This is intended for neccessity, not for the "fun" of it.

we used to line up like five in a row then you gently nudge the first one a wake it will jump up in surprise waking up the other one and so on making a chain reaction you can also throw in the air and midair it wakes up and glides down

I've seen other videos where this is done, but they don't even rock it,. They just stick the head under the wing and gently lay it down and the chicken just lays there asleep.
