  • i wish that music was not playing those merlins are music to my ears! my father was on a p51 ground crew. In the mighty 8th air force!

  • That was such a great airshow!

  • Band of Brothers soundtrack

  • Wow, those are the best of the best pilots of P-51's, specially the one in the Cavalier. Very very good video, one of the best of P-51. Thanks for sharing.

  • For me, one of the best P-51 video ever, thanks for sharing.

  • Only complaint, lose the goddamn music and the commentator...what is it with these air shows(and Others) ,when you come to hear airplanes, not some airhead talk !!

  • Love the horsemen routines was really glad to catch them when they visited the UK this year

  • What is the name of the song in the beginning?

  • I don't know the name, but the song was playing over the PA system during the taping. I believe the music was from the movie "Empire of the Sun".

  • the song in the begining was written by john williams and its called suo gan . and when the horsemen go up,that is band of brothers suite one and two.

  • The P-51 has a 12 cylinder Merlin engine, not a 16 cylinder.

  • wow... listen to those 16-cyl's roar! My grandfather worked on these planes when they were current-production models... he helped the mechanics rebuild those same V-16's after pilots used the water-injection systems during dogfights. I have a Mustang myself (the 4-wheeled type ;)) and my dream is to have a picture taken with my car and one or more of these beautiful aircraft.

  • Yes - there's no comparison to the Rolls Royce Merlin mated to the P-51 airframe! (But they are 4 cylinders short of 16 :)

There's lots of Mustangs around. I'm sure you can find one to get the Mustang-Mustang photo that you want. BTW - The car was loosely based on the P-51. The later Mach Mustangs resemble the P-51Bs & Cs in profile.

  • sorry, I AM a little rusty on my P-51 lore... 4 years working on rotary-wing, turbine-powered aircraft will do that to you, unfortunately. Here's one for you... there's a guy in my area (northern IL) who painted up his 9.60 Fox-body convertible in tribute to the 352nd... the 'Bluenosers'. He has actually met with the original pilots, and has a hood for the car painted up like the cowlings and signed by the pilots. Think mine's going to have to be in honor of the 'night fighter' squadron...

  • @thanatos0446 I hate to burst your bubble, but mustangs had V12's not V16's!

  • I heard Empire of the Sun music. A great movie. and tribute to great planes. Was that a 'C' model taking off at 1:05?

  • Yes - it was either a 'B' or a 'C', which are virtually identical.

  • Nothing beats the sound and beauty of a P-51, but a Spitfire is very close!

  • Man those things look nice when they peel out!

  • i LOVE the was he flies close to the ground, picks up speed and pulls right into a roll. awesome. i love the mustang, probably one of the best airplanes ever to grace the sky. and graceful the mustang pulls off like no other aircraft ever will

  • This is a very beautiful airplane.
