@kemi7689 I can see where you're coming from and I understand how the film was controversial. In fact, when it came out, it didn't do well in the box office because of the race issue. BUT as a second-generation Nigerian American, whose Nigerian mother showed her this film, I have to say that I truly LOVE this movie and can see past its faults. There's a difference between what they did in this flick and the blackface that was around in the late early 20th century.

Plus, the actor is sexy!

I'm African American and i love this movie! It shows racist issues in the movie because racism still existed, and i love the message. People can say black because i say white. The racism shown in this movie doesn't bother me at all because racism is ignorance, i just take it and laugh at it. Its just a white man trying to be black and you get a lot of whites trying to be black because they think its cool, but they will never now the struggle. We know what it means to have SOUL!
