This is the scariest game I've ever played. Scarier then all the Resident Evils (except 4 & 5 those were Capcom's sell-out action games, not scary at all.) They made a good choice going in this direction, another Ocarina of Time happy story would've been lame, I'm going to play this again this year in December just to fuck with myself :)
i turned it on.. when i found out the whole game is a time limit i switched it off sold it never played it again.. ocarina of time is decent, skyward sword is my favourite and twilight princess im doing atm so i cant say shit.
never really liked this one, they rush you with that time 3 day thing, even with the song of time, it gets annyoing to play it everytime you want to go back, you also lose all your rupees if you don't put them in the bank which gets annoying too, idk, guess i still like the ocarina of time one.
Great review! However, I do have one problem with it. The story wasn't meant to be 'epic'. It was meant to be a spooky tale with emotions rushing through you all the time you played.
@shellyhynes who knows, maybe behind the circular glow with wings is a stupid, yet beautiful creature, Fi was like navi, tells me obvious things all the time, but no side kick tops midna, she starts as a bitch, but a bitch you start to care for.
@MasterOfPuppets4080 Hmmmmm, came out in 2000, right? If so, 3 years old. WASN'T OLD ENOUGH TO PLAY IT. But don't worry I beat it like, 2 years ago :>
Just downloaded it from the Wii channel. I never played this game back in the day. The only Zelda games I ever had in my childhood were Zelda OoT and Zelda 2. Awesome game :D
Hate me for saying this, but for some reason, this game never did it for me :L Idk why, it always made me feel like I was being rushed (Yes, Im well aware of the song of time...)
I brought my computer into the bathroom because I had been constipated for the past week and suffice to say this game literaly scared the crap out of me and thank goodness......
@darkmandoom1 anyways, I got it the same way and this is quite honestly my first 3d zelda game and I just got it a few days ago (and I call myself a nintendo fan) but i was just blown away by the controls and the entire concept, I have yet to explore the first dungeon but I think this is a really good game from my standpoint.
@darkmandoom1 I approved of your thing because you did not swear at me at all like alot of people do on the internet, damn people need to learn (oh wait I sweared)........
This game really forced me to be a hero. In Ocarina of Time, I felt like I could take my time on whatever I felt like, but in this, it LITERALLY forced me not to f*ck around or the giant moon will kill us all. Well being a hero sucks -_-
I don't understand the people who say this is the best Zelda game of all time. After a match of Mario Kart7 with my buddy the other day, he made that bold statement, and I was stunned. It's unique, I'll give it that. But the time system always felt like a weight on my shoulders...
Sure, it was a good one, but the BEST? :/ I guess it's all opinion.
@Snoutmasta I loved this game, almost as much as Ocarina of Time, but to me, it was the story of MM that did it. I felt truly connected to it. But Ocarina, for me, was the true, "epic" adventure of my childhood. IMHO
I don't know about some people but I'd prefer to play the original over some updated 3D version. Also about the game, there are things you have to do like side quests in order to progress that it doesn't tell you about really unless you explore I guess
for anyone watching.. the part where you gotta cross that bridge with snowballs and blowing Goron.. you need to play a song to get him to sleep, i say this because i spend to many times trying to pass.. until i had to watch a walktrough
@RepaleoN Well what song specifically? I'm on that part now, and I can't seem to do it. So what song should I use and how should I pull it off? Any information would be helpful. :)
@HombreHonest its some gorong song you have to learn in a cave.. i cant really remember but im sure theres a walktrough here.. and play it with your goron drums
@TheBizarreBurrito Search for "Operation Moonfall" for ways to get it to happen. There's a petition with over 45,000 signatures. Hopefully that sort of action will get Nintendo's attention. I'd love to see a Majora's Mask 3D too!
well, your partially right.but the simple fact is that majoras mask forces you to complete the game in a certain amount of time. There is a meter of three days, once three days is up,the moon will crash into the land and destroy it,and you loose and have to start all over again.but there are many ways to make sure you get everything done in time youll have to play it to see what i mean.and the n64 controller is kind of bad,but functional.Id reccomend using gamecube controller.Cuz it feels the best.
I've never played a Zelda game, Like ever. The series always looked lame to me, but after I saw that cool mask, Majora's, I bought both Ocarina and Majora on the Virtual Console on Wii. I'm gonna play Ocarina 1st, the Majora. Any tips you gusy can give me about playing a Zelda game in general? Like what to do whens tuck of "Watch out for"?
@KYUBIMATIAS Ok first of all,if you were standing in front of me right now id punch you in the face for never playing a zelda game.Lol,jk.But,as for advice,i would just tell you that your gonna do a lot of sidequests, meaning that theres alot of stuff youll do that doesnt pertain to the main quest. Most of them are generally fun and enjoyable.Dont go into a zelda game ezpecting to ravage through and beat it really fast.It takes time and dedication. But if you love the games,it shouldnt be a problem
@rkofan2323 First off, I whanna apologize for my horrible spelling. I type so fast that this keyboard can't count all my keystrokes and it looks like crap :/
Also, I know OoT is supposed to be Legendary but I like The Look of MM more. I know MM is the sequel and stuff, but would it be absolutely horrible for me to play MM first and then OoT? Would it take away from the story? What do you suggest?
@KYUBIMATIAS Well,Ocarina of Time is clearly how most zelda games today are,its the roots of the series, meaning that its gameplay is the same as most zelda games today is.And it is the first of the two,so if you want to figure out how link ended up in the woods at the begining of the game, youll have to look up the story of OOT on the internet to understand that if you dont play OOT first. Also note that majoras mask has totally different gameplay than any other zelda game and is not the same.
@rkofan2323 So it really depends on whether you want to experience the roots of the series first,or something thats totally different than any other zelda game. But if you want my opinion, play oot first because you really need to see what the gameplay is like for every zelda game besides majoras mask.Majoras mask has a onetime gameplay aspect that hasnt been used in another zelda game. But it wouldnt be absolutely horrible if you played MM first.
@rkofan2323 Oh, really? I didn't know the gameplay was so different. I thought you had to run around exploring The land, finding heart pieces, and solving temples. Also, I plan on playing the game with a Classic Controller Pro in black, do you think this might also take away from the experience of not having the N64 or even Gamecube Controller? Thanks for your advice :)
I discovered Zelda games not so long ago, since I never really owned a nintendo console besides SNES. I always thought Zelda games are kinda childish and meh all over, but the hype was big, so I decided to try Ocarina of time. And it's great, it must've been amazing playing it back when it was released. I also played Majora's mask, and now I'm playing Twillight Princess on Wii. All the games are fantastic. As soon as I complete TW, I'll get Skyward Sword, and after that Wind Waker.
@KYUBIMATIAS I just played through zelda mm and I think the classic controller pro works better. But i'm not sure how your hands are shaped so it may be different for you
@dreamkaster64 I already got my CCP in black in the mail an I'm playing OoT and it feels great and works great. I expect the same with MM as soon as I start it :)
@KYUBIMATIAS Um yes, the water temple. its hard as shit! but other then that it is my most favorite of video games, so much that I'm actually getting a trifroce tattoo sooner or later :]
I would prefer Majoras Mask if it wasnt so damn hard and the Saving wasnt so badly screwed up I prefer Majoras Mask as a game in General, but overall i prefer Ocarina of Time
This was the most unique, twisted and utterly genius video game I've ever played for 2 reasons. 1: Theres this weird sensation you get playing it, a contrast between the old and very unfamiliar which creates a very odd and unique feeling. 2: The intense, melancholic, ominous thought of the moon crashing is almost depressing, and the depressing "tic toc" in your head counting down those 72 hours until the very last second when you rewind the clock and feel as though you'll be alright for now.
@SuburbanScourging I know right, this game is so godamn deep. The way it blends what seems so famiular on the outside, but within lays somthing so much more darker, its just a amazing piece of interactive story telling. I wouldnt say its the best Zelda, but its surreal journey into both Links and you, the players, mind makes it the best zelda story, next to SS and TP (my favroute Zelda)
This game is WAAAAY underrated. IMO, its as good as or better than OOT, and just behind TP and SS, but not by much. Its unique (in a good way). If im in a zelda mood, but not in the middle of a quest, and dont really feel like starting one, i can pick up MM and just do some sidequests for a while. I love it!
It sold less not just cause of how different it was, but because of its incredibly late release and that some people were drawn away because it needed the expansion pak. A mask taking control of a child and dropping the moon on a parallel dimensien of Hyrule sounds very epic. The art style is amazing. Tp's style is much more funky and wierd. As for helping strangers, well what about saving Hyrule? You're helping a bunch of strangers there. This game is underrated.
I prefer Majora's Mask 1000 times instead of Ocarina of Time...This Zelda make's you feel...Weak...Why?Because the stupid Moon it's going to crash over Termina...I feelt that way when i was kid...( 7 years old)...This game is beatiful on every context...
this game and super mario sunshine are the same. they are totally different from the true franchise but offer a different experience and a fun one at it too. They are both under appreciated and lost in time. I personally didn't like majora's mask that well but it was different too what zelda fans are used to. Same with SMS (even if the story is exactly as a mario game should be). They are both really fun but didn't get the attention they deserved
the problem of this game is the lack of coherent, well-thought out, and important main story. the game is so focused on the mask collection and side quests that it loses its main storyline experience. also, the problem with the time mechanic is giving the player the time altering songs. they song of half-time ruins any bit of possible challenge based on the remaining time, and the beggar/banker ruins the tension of losing money/items. its flaws far outweigh its great moments.
@connor7772009 A link to the past. Not only was it my first Zelda but it was also the game the got me started on my path as a gamer. Ah the memories~ However, at the rate I'm going Skyward Sword might take that spot as my favorite Zelda :D
This was the right way to do mature content on the N64...not Conker's Bad Fur Day...nothing against that game, because it was pretty good, but it sure did flop commercially.
@hotchocolate420 The stories do connect. Eiji Aonuma, director of Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Phantom Hourglass, proposed the big link being that Ocarina of Time has a split timeline. Shigeru Miyamoto stated that Ocarina of Time is the first in the timeline in 1998...6 years before Minnish Cap was released...Minish Cap being the maiden journey. The rest can be kind of pieced together.
@thermalKITTEN The answer to that question is yes...yes it does. Ocarina of Time has a split timeline. There's the timeline in the future when Zelda sends link back in time. That timeline I believe continues to wind waker. The second timeline is when Link is sent back into the past. This Link is the Link in Majora's Mask.
@thermalKITTEN fyi..Eiji Aonuma, the director Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Phantom Hourglass, proposed the split timeline theory so I'm not pulling that out of my ass.
@thermalKITTEN it does in a sense because zelda put link back as a child in orcarina of time, so its a partial connection, but this one starts a personal journey for link and nothing about him saving hyrule again, pretty neat
I'm playing Ocarina of time now (first time) and was planning on playing this next.I'd be lying if I didn't say I was confused.I'm sure it's worth a try right?
Uh isn't Majora's Mask what happens after Zelda gives Link back his childhood? Doesn't that mean that he isn't really the hero cause in that timeline he didn't actually save Hyrule?
i never got into this game. but, despite never finishing it, or getting past the first temple, even, i love this game something crazy. i can't describe it. this needs a 3DS remake for sure.
@CinematicallyUnhappy Actually it has already been announced for a 3ds remake but Shigeru Miyamoto want to make a completely new Zelda game for the 3ds before they make that remake. :P
@CinematicallyUnhappy Well it been said he was going to make a remake after a new fully fledged zelda game is done for the 3ds (I think this system)As said on IGN
@CinematicallyUnhappy The Video that confirms it is call "IGN daily fix new Zelda reveal". This is the latest new from the new Zelda game but only the 1st 40 secs will matter cause that whats on Zelda.
Damn Freshman year at college, this game came out in what 1999-2000, you sound really young, not a knock, just an observation, no dis man, we cool right bro, yeah we cool!!!!!

@Themastercode1235 I couldn't agree more

my all time favorite game, I've yet to play another game with such amazing level design. Skyrim came close, but it's just not as great as this was.

@xyo68 the moon looks kinda like Ganondorf's face... Possible reincarnation???

@CrashSucksMariosaGOD No...I think the face represents all the evil on Majora's...

This game is too difficult. I made it farther in it when I was 10 then I can now, probably because I spent soo much time on it.

This game is CRAZY. The most notable thing I take away from it, is being overwhelmed. The game is a cluster fuck.

this game and super mario sunshine are the same. they are totally different from the true franchise but offer a different experience and a fun one at it too. They are both under appreciated and lost in time. I personally didn't like majora's mask that well but it was different too what zelda fans are used to. Same with SMS (even if the story is exactly as a mario game should be). They are both really fun but didn't get the attention they deserved
foreversoccer98 2 months ago
the problem of this game is the lack of coherent, well-thought out, and important main story. the game is so focused on the mask collection and side quests that it loses its main storyline experience. also, the problem with the time mechanic is giving the player the time altering songs. they song of half-time ruins any bit of possible challenge based on the remaining time, and the beggar/banker ruins the tension of losing money/items. its flaws far outweigh its great moments.

This was a very good zelda game. This was after the kid's link oot adventure not the adult. This I think was the split timeline shining moment game,

connor7772009 3 months ago
@connor7772009 A link to the past. Not only was it my first Zelda but it was also the game the got me started on my path as a gamer. Ah the memories~ However, at the rate I'm going Skyward Sword might take that spot as my favorite Zelda :D
hmompoint 3 months ago
@hmompoint I enjoy link to the past, i used to have on my game boy. I really like the art style in it

This was the right way to do mature content on the N64...not Conker's Bad Fur Day...nothing against that game, because it was pretty good, but it sure did flop commercially.

does majoras mask continue the story of ocarina?
thermalKITTEN 3 months ago
@thermalKITTEN i don't like to think any of the stories connect, but a fresh start each time.. as if the other games never happened.
hotchocolate420 3 months ago
@hotchocolate420 The stories do connect. Eiji Aonuma, director of Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Phantom Hourglass, proposed the big link being that Ocarina of Time has a split timeline. Shigeru Miyamoto stated that Ocarina of Time is the first in the timeline in 1998...6 years before Minnish Cap was released...Minish Cap being the maiden journey. The rest can be kind of pieced together.
Dreamewalker 3 months ago
@Dreamewalker Very interesting.. I can't wait to play them all!!
hotchocolate420 3 months ago
@thermalKITTEN The answer to that question is yes...yes it does. Ocarina of Time has a split timeline. There's the timeline in the future when Zelda sends link back in time. That timeline I believe continues to wind waker. The second timeline is when Link is sent back into the past. This Link is the Link in Majora's Mask.
Dreamewalker 3 months ago
@thermalKITTEN fyi..Eiji Aonuma, the director Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Phantom Hourglass, proposed the split timeline theory so I'm not pulling that out of my ass.
Dreamewalker 3 months ago
@thermalKITTEN it does in a sense because zelda put link back as a child in orcarina of time, so its a partial connection, but this one starts a personal journey for link and nothing about him saving hyrule again, pretty neat

@CinematicallyUnhappy Lol just like me xDI never passed the first dungeon and the game is my favorite Zelda game to date I don't know why xD.
Ikesama 3 months ago
@CinematicallyUnhappy Actually it has already been announced for a 3ds remake but Shigeru Miyamoto want to make a completely new Zelda game for the 3ds before they make that remake. :P
TheBlurr14 3 months ago
@TheBlurr14 it hasn't been confirmed yet...
CinematicallyUnhappy 3 months ago
@CinematicallyUnhappy Well it been said he was going to make a remake after a new fully fledged zelda game is done for the 3ds (I think this system)As said on IGN
TheBlurr14 3 months ago
@CinematicallyUnhappy The Video that confirms it is call "IGN daily fix new Zelda reveal". This is the latest new from the new Zelda game but only the 1st 40 secs will matter cause that whats on Zelda.
TheBlurr14 3 months ago
@TheBlurr14 he said they didn't want to release a remake right after the ocarina remake.
that video confirms that they're making a zelda for 3ds, it doesn't extend to what.
CinematicallyUnhappy 3 months ago
@CinematicallyUnhappy yeah but either way it still tells that once the new 3ds Zelda game is done they might make the remake for Majora's mask.
