i dont understand how to turn thing goes. because when i do it i kindof straighten it out ^^" do i put it on the celing and make knots and go around in circles to make them?
Does this type of knot work for other materials? Like Embroidery thread? I don't have hemp right now.... (more accurately I cant find it since I moved) But I want to make a key chain for someone and was wondering if I could use some other kind of string... yarn perhaps?
@RawkStarrPrincess Yes, I've done it multiple time with embroidery thread. As for yarn I'm not positive, I've never done with with yarn but, I image it would work. With embroidery thread, the spiral isn't as prominent though so the look isn't as strong.
Which ever makes you more comfortable...whatever string is in your right hand is the right hand knotter and whatever string that is in your left hand is your right hand knotter when tying spirals.
I know I was just curious if the name of each knot had some logic on the technical side of it's stitch. I didn't want to be telling people I was doing a right half knot when I wasn't. Thanks for the info it works great!
Why does the right half knot appear to turn counterclockwise and the left clockwise. It seems to me a right knot would turn clockwise or "righty tighty" , left knot counterclockwise or "lefty loosy"Am I being dislexic or missing something.

i know how it twists in the prosses of tieng it, so do you stay in one string the whole time or switch when it makes an entire turn?
