@bsegg04 the band was around before schembechler passed and their name is a take off of 70s punk band "the dead kennedys". They changed their name after the passing of Bo Schembechler, but got permission from the family to continue using the name. In 2006 and 2008 they also donated half of the funds of their shows to the Schembechler Heart of A Champion Foundation.

I was at the show they did the day Schembechler died. They were very praising of him and honored him with a moment of silence and the playing of Hells Bells. I saw the pumpkins last halloween in Columbus and the crowd was respectful to him. He even sang "Hang On Sloopy" for the crowd (video of which is posted in my videos). He has a hell of an ego, but what rock star doesn't?

Dimebag's death was a freak occurrence, Iggy Pop hasn't been caught for a lot of stage dives (not limited just to Columbus), Tory Amos sucks (although that doesn't excuse the beer bottle thing) and the Misfits still play Columbus every now and again with no problems.

To their credit, the band was not named for the actual death of coach Schembechler but it is a parody of the punk rock band "The Dead Kennedys". In fact, Bo died shortly before the 2006 game. DS was playing a gig at The Newport in Columbus the night before the 2006 OSU-Mich game and donated all the profits to the Bo Schembechler heart of a champion fund.
