Very delicate and touching. The sentiment stirred up in this combination of images and the lyrics and music in Stereolab's "Whisper Pitch" remind me of the lives the women lead in "Fahrenheit 451"- either the film or novel. Check it out peeps if that intrigues you and you aren't familiar with it.
I wish they made videos with themselves in them. I mean this is great, but I would prefer to see them as much as possible while they are together, although I hear they have just split up again, or are at least taking a break from each other for the time being.
from wikipedia: On 2nd April 2009 Stereolab manager Martin Pike posted a message on the band's website, announcing that after 19 years the band would go into hiatus as "there are no plans to record new tracks". =(
wow!!!,que trabajo extraordinario es este ,una belleza obra de arte lo que realizaron aqui, que cuidados tan minuciosos ,the song by itself its a natural masterpiece and with the video job defintely captivate me,just beautiful!.
dude...the fluidity of the notes with the smoothness of the way these women move is really captivating. And believe me, I'm rarely ever this nice on youtube. Good job.
The lyrics sound a lot like dialog in the movie Waking Life. It's toward the beginning of the film where a professor is talking about existentialism. He says something like: we should never write ourselves off and see ourselves as the victim of various forces. It's always our decision who we are...
this is my favorite song now!! i like the way the video goes with it. one thing about it though that i like is some of the clips of the women puting on the stockings and showing off their legs creeps me out! i don't know quite why~~~jessica
love the editing in this found footage vid. i have a few of my own actually that play around with these kinds of notions. may i presume you are a huge fan of Bruce Connor?
i'd suggest that with this video, it becomes an appeal to women in this cultural hemisphere to re-think their inherited dependency on men, and re-think whether they wish to conform to expectations of looking 'smooth' and 'pretty'...?
I like smooth-shaved feminine legs too, but in my humble opinion nothing beats the Chinese tradition of foot-crushing as a Patriarchal-cultural means to control women ... (it has taken a single generation to finally abolish "foot-binding", why do other traditions take so much longer?)
This seems like a well-learned adaptation of their other videos, a fan work following a type of canon. It's very well done, and believable as one of their own.
Very nice. The material works great with that song. Incredible job on the editing, very Pro. Favorite part is the ending with the lady in the red coat walking thru some trees. Props!
I remember when I first stumbled upon this video, in November 2008. This video is fab! It reminds me of 60's Doctor Who!

@PicNique You where first! Its Robert C. Solomon. His TTC course "Passions: Philosophy and the Intelligence of Emotions" is great!
Furthermore I was playing around with the sample from te movie (spokenword dj set) the day before I first heard this song.

Just put on those stretchy stockings, smile pretty,
pose with a beachball, and keep those heels lifted.
Cognitive dissonance isn't always a pretty thing,
but in this case, that foxy '60's look knocks me out!
