Truly an amazing thing Matt started, I went to the Summer Bash in 2010 and enjoyed the worship. God really moved in Church of the Highlands that night!! Praise be to God for letting Matt hit the bottom and saving him. If it wasn't for what Matt went through there would be "The Basement" to reach out to others across not only Birmingham and the U.S., but across the World.

Matt is an incredible preacher. the Basement is the only ministry I've been to that truly spoke to me. It changed my life. For the first time, I actually realized just HOW amazing Jesus is. I enjoy listening to his interpretations of the bible, because the Bible just isn't very descriptive. No offense to the Bible, I mean I read it and its amazing, but Matt translates it to our language.

I was there as well!! You know, I've seen Matt live on two other occasions but, in my opinion, he has transformed in a profound way. As you two witnessed, his message left the crowd speechless and in tears. The "Awesome God" blaring ... the "PAID IN FULL" ... the almost inexplicable passion has changed me. I still catch myself zoning while thinking about it. Just beyond surreal.

Only a few people had the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, before Jesus, but after Him, EVERYONE who is a truly Born Again Christian has not only the Holy Spirit, but God the Father and Jesus dwelling within their human spirit!!! The devil is responsible for all the different religions, using the strategy of divide and conquer!

It's intresting I guess. I saw a clip of "The Basement" where they played Linkin Park's "Numb" during a skit. Looks like a club. I know a girl who is hardcore into the basement. A different breed of christian I'll say that for sure. Snotty, arrogant, but very nice to people who are in her click. Makes sure her Bible is visible. WIthout it, you'd have no clue she's a christian. Bet Pitt's making a killing though. Prai$e God.

The mark of a true Christian, is that you can tell them apart from "worldly" people! They are becoming more like Jesus with the passage of time! If that is not happening then the person has not truly become Born Again, and is just playing church! The person you mention may be a very young Christian, and the Holy Spirit has not changed her much yet.

I have been to the basement before. I'm very traditional and I'm saved. The basement isn't my way of worship, not saying it's wrong. There's no wrong way of worship. Everyone has their own way of praising God, but the time I went, I wasn't treated very well because of my past. I drink every now and I'm 21 so big deal. I took it overboard in the past but not anymore. I personally think its hypocritical. Not because of the leaders, but because of the followers.

I used to be like you, but then I came to realize that my drinking could negatively affect young people who saw me do it. So I quit completely. The Bible tells us that if we cause someone else to stumble, it is a sin unto us. Also i am convinced that NO ONE can be a casual drinker all the time. I believe EVERYONE who drinks will get drunk every now and then, even if he is a casual drinker. That's why I stopped.
